Years after Benizame sealed himself in the Chrono Nexus, Terra lives in fragile peace. But during a sudden Riftstorm, a teenage orphan named Kaien discovers a red feather floating from the sky. Touching it floods his mind with visions — fragments of battles, burning skies, a glowing sword, and the name "Benizame." Kaien feels called by something ancient. At the same time, time fissures begin to reopen across Terra. Zaiya, now an older leader of Rift refugees, investigates and senses the return of Rift anomalies. Kaien wanders into the ruins of Chronopolis and finds a sealed chamber where a shard of the VyrnEdge awakens to his presence, reforging itself into VyrnSpark. He's drawn into a secret war brewing beneath Terra's surface. Zaiya reluctantly takes him in, sensing Benizame's echo in him. Meanwhile, unknown forces stir in the Rift Realm, and ancient pre-Time beasts begin to stir again. All signs point to one thing: the Nexus is waking up — and breaking. A prophecy hidden in Rift scriptures speaks of a "Featherborne" who will either close the Rift forever… or become the next Devourer.
