Chapter 1 A DIAMOND IN SILK
The Chandelier sparkled overhead like a thousand stars frozen in time. The Grand ballroom of the Gold beautiful estate glistened with luxury- crystal flutes in every hard, diamonds on every wrist, and whispers of envy carried champagne- scented air. It was a lovely, splendid night designed to flaunt and show the influence of the" kelvin empire"and his only heir-Ruth Kelvin. It is actually one of the beautiful empires, an estate that is so expensive like gold. Most people fondly called it "Gold empire" because of its beauty and ambience.
But Ruth stood near the back, her fingers lightly touching the rim of her untouched glass, her eyes wandering the French doors that led to the quiet garden. The music was loud, the lyrics of the music were interesting, and the smiles were too sharp. She did grow up in this world of opulence, born into it like a gemstone encased in silk- but unlike the cutthroat crowd gathered tonight. She looked so pretty dressed in a neat and glamorous gown.
" Miss Ruth, you look stunning tonight", said a voice to her. Richy Stone, heir to a chain of luxury resorts leaned in too close to her.
"Thank you", she said politely, stepping away. " Excuse me".
As she walked away, the whispers trailed behind her like perfume.
She's too cold, too picky
Still single? Probably looking for someone even richer.
She smiled tightly, pretending not to hear.
None of them knew the truth- that the real reason she was single was because she did never met anyone who wanted her. They wanted the Gold name, they wanted money, they wanted everything money could buy. They never wanted true love, they were far from truth, honesty, and integrity. They never wanted the woman behind the wealth.
Ruth was in search of a man who is genuine, pure, who loves from the heart, and not a man who is "money-blouded".
She slipped out through the French doors and into the garden. The night air was cool, fragrant with jasmine and roses. Out here, it was quiet,. Just Ruth alone beneath the stars. She sat on a marble bench and looked up "where is he"? She whispered, more to herself than anyone. " where is the one who is genuine and honest? Where is the man that values truth, genuine love and integrity. The world is filled with a lot of dark people, people with low moral values and ethics, people of pretense. We are in a world where wealth and riches are celebrated but character is not valued. A world of increasing love for riches at the expense of integrity. There are only a few people that are not money conscious but people of true character.
Ruth, a priceless daughter of a billionaire, truly searches for a man of that capacity. She has had a lot of failed relationships because the men seeking to marry her are not after love but they are after wealth. When she was in college many years ago , Kenneth, a young man and well to do approached her for marriage. They were good friends for some years before the relationship clashed. Kenneth came from a wealthy background but lacked certain characters that Ruth wanted. He was proud, not humble, rude,highly temperamental, not considerate. He never considered the poor nor the middle class, he despised anyone who wasn't at his level. He had no love in him. He only loved his rich friends, he has zero attitude. This was not the kind of man Ruth wanted. Ruth has gone through a lot in the hands heady men. She only wanted peace and comfort in life which money cannot afford.
Shortly after her graduation from college, she met a young man at the restaurant who also came to have launch. He was tall and good looking. His name is Stephen. Stephen was nice to move it but it occurred to Ruth that Stephen was a gold digger. He was able to find out that was Ruth was a billionaire daughter, he got the information from the media. He became desperate to marry Ruth, he was not concerned about his happiness or Ruth's happiness. He sought for ways he could steal from her. He was interested in her account details, her properties, her savings, her Dad's net income. She eventually called the relationship off, they both parted ways. Ruth wants a genuine man with a heart of gold and a man with a pure heart. Even though it was difficult to get a man like that, but she was determined to keep searching, she was not willing to give up. Everybody may not be priceless, everbody may not be sincere from the heart, but there are few people who are priceless. These are the words of Ruth as she thought deeply. Just as it is difficult to refine gold, it is also difficult to get priceless men.
That night has so many attendees, there are friends of the billionaire that came to see his gold empire. It was a night of the gathering of eagles from all fields of life. As Ruth sat on the marble bench, a gentle man approached her, His name is Perry.
"Hi Ruth, Perry said".
Ruth responded" Hello".
Nice meeting you, Perry said. I have heard a lot about you. My Dad told me his friend's daughter is a pretty single lady.
" Perry asked, Ruth why are you still single"?
Ruth replied " I need a priceless man".
What do you mean by that, Perry asked.
She replied, a priceless man is a man that values genuine love, honesty, integrity, and a man that cannot be bought over by money, a man that values truth over the riches of the world, a man that believes money cannot buy virtues, a man of good report.
Perry replied,"such a man is difficult to find". Perry is one of the men that believes money is everything. He said to Ruth," what the world needs is a man who has riches, wealth, fame, power. If a man has all these, he his a priceless man. Ruth already knows she was talking with the wrong person. She knows that the kind of man she wants and desires is yet to be found.
Behind her , the party continued.
Maxwell Kelvin watched from his private balcony. His daughter was the face of his empire's next generation. He watched his daughter discussed with his friend's son. Time to find her a husband", he muttered to himself. " one that has the rules of this world".
Just immediately after the night party in his empire, he thought how he could get a richer young man to marry his daughter. Ruth's Dad didn't know the kind of man his daughter wanted. He thought she wanted a richer and a more handsome man.
