Chapter 218 - Chapter 218: Whitebeard’s Favored Fate Item

Chapter 218: Whitebeard's Favored Fate Item

"Then let's begin."

Fang Yi smiled as he spoke.

They all acted tough in the beginning. He wondered how long Whitebeard would hold onto his ideals—would he really never exchange Fish-Man Island's reward points?

Smoker had once said the same, yet ended up stripping an entire high-grade Marine base.

"It's been a long time since I felt this kind of excitement…"

Whitebeard took a deep breath,

first purchasing the golden gene therapy potion. After drinking it, he felt the residual pain and internal injuries rapidly fading away.

He then turned his attention to the five fate items that appeared on the shelf.

Fang Yi reminded him, "It's not an absolute rule, but the first fate item you buy usually determines what kinds of items will appear in the next refresh."

Whitebeard nodded. "Thank you for the advice."

Since fate items were influenced by one's deepest desires…

what would his desires produce?

He felt a faint sense of anticipation.

His gaze landed on the first item on the shelf.

It was a crystal-clear, colorless gem, radiating a strong magical aura—dazzling and captivating.

"A crystal stone?"

Whitebeard raised his brow, touching the item to reveal its description.

[Fragment of Broken Dragon Crystal (Sky)]

Not a complete dragon crystal, but a shard no larger than a fingernail—yet still rated blue-tier quality.

A high-grade material from a magical world,

formed from the condensed energy inside a dragon's corpse after death. It could be used to craft top-tier magical armor and weapons.

"A very rare material."

Fang Yi glanced up with surprise. "Usually, dragons return to Dragon Island before dying. That's their lair—full of high-level dragons—so humans almost never acquire dragon crystals."

"Are dragons that powerful?"

Whitebeard only knew Kaido, who had the Azure Dragon Zoan fruit.

Even if Kaido were at his peak, Whitebeard didn't think he'd lose.

"If a high-tier dragon appeared in the pirate world, it could destroy the world."

Fang Yi gave a clear answer.

In a magic world where high-tier dragons existed—typically Tier-3—the Four Emperors would be mid-tier combatants at best.

High-tier dragons could rival saint-level mages. "Destroy the world" wasn't an exaggeration.

"I see…"

"The Revolutionary Army leader's exchange was dragon bloodline. That technique that destroyed Death Island? That was just a high-tier dragon's basic attack."

Whitebeard remembered the "Black Storm" Word Spirit unleashed during the global broadcast.

It had left a lasting impression—and he had willingly conceded because of it.

So that was from a dragon…

"If you buy the Dragon Crystal Fragment, you can use it as material to reforge Murakumogiri."

Fang Yi continued, "Dragon bloodlines vary. The Revolutionary leader had a Wind Dragon, while this one is Sky-elemental."

"With Sky attributes and your Gura Gura no Mi pushed to the limit, you could manipulate weather through seismic energy."

Were Whitebeard not previously afflicted by illness,

he would have been the most feared Emperor. His fruit alone could trigger earthquakes at will, destroy islands, summon tsunamis, shake the sky…

In pure destructive terms, none of the other Emperors came close.

Had Whitebeard chosen to invade Marine Headquarters, even multiple Admirals couldn't stop him from leveling the island.

But… that was the limit of the Gura Gura no Mi.

If reforged with dragon crystal…

he could tear through the atmosphere, unleash chaos across the entire sea.

That would make him truly worthy of the title "the man who could destroy the world."

"Of course, there's a chance the forging might fail."

Fang Yi gave a heads-up. "But if you buy this item, future refreshes will favor magic-world goods—materials and techniques to increase forging success. So don't worry too much."

With enough reward points, the failure rate could even be brought down to zero.

"Does it have any other uses?"

Whitebeard could feel the energy pulsing within the crystal—it made him want to swallow it.

Fang Yi nodded. "It contains faint dragon essence. If you swallow it, you might awaken a Sky Dragon bloodline. But the risk is high—if you fail, you'll become a mindless half-dragon monster."

"Quite a dangerous item."

Whitebeard resisted the urge to consume it and looked to the second item.

Though powerful, the Dragon Crystal wasn't something he craved on an emotional level.

The second item was a scroll.

[Pulsequake Technique]

A cultivation method from a xuanhuan (fantasy) continent, which strengthened the body by repeatedly striking the Eight Extraordinary Meridians to develop seismic energy—a top-tier body-forging technique.

"What a novel idea. Other worlds really are full of brilliant minds."

Whitebeard admired the scroll after reading the description.

In the pirate world, one could also harden their body through training and develop Armament Haki,

but that was merely a physical enhancement.

This technique, though, produced supernatural abilities—similar to Devil Fruits—through cultivation.

Fang Yi added, "At its peak, the Pulsequake Technique allows every movement to release seismic force. You can even create a shock domain that pulverizes anything nearby."

"An impressive technique indeed."

Whitebeard was genuinely impressed.

Devil Fruits had ceilings. The limit was awakening.

At the highest levels of battle, fruits were secondary—Haki was what truly decided the outcome.

But these cultivation methods combined both—endless progression and supernatural power.

If someone introduced them to the pirate world, they could create a new golden age beyond what Roger had achieved.

"Likewise, if you buy this scroll, future items will mostly come from that fantasy world."

Fang Yi added, "Spirit stones, spirit fruits, matching techniques, combat arts… as long as you have the reward points, they'll let you advance smoothly to Tier-1 peak."

After that, he'd need to go to the New World and complete a tier ascension quest.

Whitebeard said nothing.

Truthfully, both items tempted him deeply.

He had clawed his way to the top by training. Now the path to get even stronger lay wide open. How could he not be moved?

Being stronger would better protect his family—

But...

Now that his illness was cured, he was already strong enough. If he kept improving,

his power would outpace that of his crew—

until even Marco couldn't follow him into the New World.

Then what?

With that thought, Whitebeard reluctantly turned away and looked at the next item.

The third was a chestplate that could neutralize the Gura Gura no Mi's backlash.

Wearing it would allow him to fully unleash his powers without injuring himself.

The fourth was access to a special device that could awaken superpowers.

If he chose to spend extra points to fix the result, it would likely align with his quake abilities.

Seeing his hesitation, Fang Yi chuckled. "None of these to your liking?"

"No."

Whitebeard shook his head.

The first batch of fate items was considered a gift—usually high-quality options that could shape a player's future.

Excluding the quake-absorbing chestplate,

the remaining items corresponded to magical, fantasy, and superpower worlds—each representing immense potential.

Just as he was about to explain, his gaze landed on the fifth and final item.

He froze.

[Crimson Troll Bloodline]

From a dark fantasy world, trolls were a brutal, hardy race with formidable bodies and immense vitality.

Depending on their habitat, they could mutate into terrifying hero-tier units: Frost Trolls, Chaos Trolls, Lava Trolls…

The Crimson variant was an extremely rare mutation.

On the shelf,

a bottle filled with thick crimson blood violently sloshed around, sometimes forming the head of a savage troll.

Even through the glass, Whitebeard could feel the bloodlust and savagery emanating from it.

"Crimson Troll bloodline… Does that mean I'm secretly craving slaughter?"

Whitebeard frowned at the sight.

Fang Yi had said that fate items reflect your deepest desires. The previous ones—crystal, armor, scroll—all aligned with that logic.

But this one emitted such madness… Did he really harbor such violent urges?

Whitebeard began to doubt himself,

glancing at Fang Yi as if seeking an explanation.

Fang Yi, meeting his gaze, said calmly, "Reincarnation Game items come from countless worlds."

"There are dragons that wish to destroy, and angels that wish to save."

"Demons who seek dominion, and holy knights blessed by gods…"

"These powers may come from darkness or light, but once they enter the Reincarnation Game, morality is stripped away. All that remains is power."

It surprised Fang Yi that even a pirate like Whitebeard would resist evil.

Weren't pirates supposed to be chaotic evil?

Then again, he reminded himself,

a few in this world—like Straw Hat Luffy—were more like adventurers than villains.

But still, he didn't expect a war-hardened man like Whitebeard to care.

It soon became clear.

Whitebeard didn't reject evil power for himself—but he feared what it might do to his crew.

Thatch's death.

Teach's betrayal.

These remained painful scars he never spoke of.

Even now, he didn't understand why.

If Blackbeard had just asked, Thatch would've given him the Dark-Dark Fruit willingly.

That was the family bond of the Whitebeard Pirates.

Even a rare Logia wasn't as valuable as family.

And yet…

Teach had committed the most unforgivable act.

So even if Whitebeard himself accepted darkness,

he worried about what dark powers might do to his sons.

"Even so… I…"

He still hesitated.

Fang Yi smiled. "Don't be so quick to reject it. If it appeared here, then it means some part of you desires something it represents."

Whitebeard frowned deeply.

He didn't feel that the Crimson Troll bloodline fulfilled any of his desires.

"Crimson Trolls are born in hell and filled with bloodlust."

Fang Yi casually explained.

"They're nightmares made flesh. Wherever one appears, entire civilizations fall."

"Ordinary trolls are dumb and sluggish, eating anything they can chew. They sit at the bottom of the food chain and are harvested for magical materials."

Whitebeard reacted with disdain. Trolls were universally reviled.

But Fang Yi continued,

"When a Crimson Troll appears, it unites other trolls into a Crimson Horde. They rise from hell, sweeping across continents. Even saint-tier paladins struggle to resist them."

"Crimson Horde?"

Whitebeard's eyes narrowed.

One troll could rally an entire species of disposable monsters into a world-wrecking army?

If power was the goal, he already had better options—he didn't need an ugly troll's strength.

Fang Yi seemed to read his mind.

"In terms of personal strength, Crimson Trolls are weak. A Lava Troll could incinerate one with a single magma blast."

Then what made them so terrifying?

A horde… A horde!

He looked up at Fang Yi's smirking face and suddenly understood.

"You can spend reward points to experience the Crimson Troll bloodline."

Fang Yi raised his hand.

The air shimmered, forming a single drop of crimson blood.

A black text box appeared in Whitebeard's vision.

[Crimson Troll Bloodline (Trial)]: Experience the powers of a Crimson Troll for ten minutes. Cost: 2,000 reward points.

Whitebeard didn't hesitate. He bought the trial.

The blood merged with his palm.

From his arm, a savage, chaotic energy surged through his body, condensing into a red crystal core near his heart.

Fang Yi gestured. "You may now activate the Crimson Troll's innate ability."

The shop expanded around them—becoming the size of a small island, giving Whitebeard room to unleash freely.

Boom.

Suppressing the madness inside, Whitebeard activated the core.

A crimson glow burst from above his head, expanding hundreds of meters outward.

[Crimson Resonance Lv.1]: By shedding blood, you release Crimson Aura. Allies within its range are mentally linked through a blood-bond, enabling seamless communication.

"So that's what it is… This is what I wanted all along!"

Whitebeard let out a thunderous laugh.
