Chapter 220 - Chapter 220: Information Reveal, Family Token Fragment

Chapter 220: Information Reveal, Family Token Fragment

"Two hundred forty thousand reward points… That's steep."

Feeling the crimson core pulsing at his heart, Whitebeard nodded in satisfaction.

But then he thought about the cost—a single bloodline had required the exchange of four small islands. That stung.

"It's fine,"

Fang Yi consoled him. "Even if the islands were sold, the Whitebeard Pirates can still station themselves there by paying monthly reward points."

Islands transformed by the Reincarnation Game were treated like expanded pirate starter zones.

Players weren't forbidden from entering.

But now they were considered the Game Merchant's private territory—

any group wishing to station there needed to pay rent in reward points.

"If I get enough points later, can I buy the islands back?"

After all, these were islands the Whitebeard Pirates had occupied for years.

The idea of paying rent on them was embarrassing—and hard to explain to his sons.

"Of course."

Fang Yi nodded. "To purchase islands, you need a [Territory Purchase Scroll]. That's a rule-type item, which the Game Shop doesn't sell—it drops from hunting corrupted monsters."

"Also, only factions with family status can buy territory."

Any purchased land would automatically become part of that family's domain.

And upgrading the family level, expanding buildings, or acquiring family emblems would all consume territory capacity.

In short,

any family seeking to grow would have to buy land. There was no way around it.

That meant all the islands and continents Fang Yi had absorbed and purchased were destined to become hot commodities in future player wars.

"Mr. Fang Yi…"

Whitebeard couldn't help but ask, "So far, there's only been one family token—and it was sold by your own hand to that little girl in Alabasta. Can the Whitebeard Pirates buy one as well?"

Even though he'd unexpectedly obtained the Crimson Troll bloodline,

he hadn't forgotten their main reason for coming to the East Blue:

to heal his wounds—and obtain a family token.

Fang Yi smiled. "Seems like you've got quite the obsession with family."

"Well," Whitebeard said honestly, "even the Red-Haired Pirates, who believe in freedom, still need an island for a base."

He wasn't shy about it. "Even if I'm a Crimson Troll now, no army can survive on the run forever. Stationing on islands and building patiently—that's what a Pirate Emperor should do."

Sure, Luffy could get by early on with just a single ship.

But after defeating Doflamingo, even if he didn't want a formal power structure, others would naturally form the Straw Hat Grand Fleet for him.

Before long, they'd start taking over islands—without him saying a word.

In the pirate world,

islands were the foundation of all major factions.

Just like Marine Headquarters was the World Government's logistics base,

no great power could ignore territory.

"The Game Shop doesn't sell family tokens."

Fang Yi shook his head. "Alabasta's token was part of the Game's early promotion."

"I see…"

Whitebeard looked disappointed.

Anyone with a brain could see how important family tokens were.

If the Reincarnation Game kept expanding, eventually the entire pirate world would become game territory.

Whoever had a family could raise players and gather resources—that meant power and advantage.

"Now that the promotion is over, token fragments will start appearing."

Fang Yi raised his hand and issued a public announcement, visible in the global player chat.

[Game Merchant]:

Five hours until [Death Island] opens. Initiating intel reveal.

The returning Corrupted Lord [Soul Reaper] has broken free of his right-hand chain. All base stats increased by 20. New ability unlocked: [Grip of Fear].

Drop list: Soul Reaper's Spaulders, Soul Scythe, reward points, family token fragment…

As soon as the announcement went out,

every faction hiding in the East Blue erupted.

"Finally! A family token fragment!"

Doflamingo swirled his wine glass and downed it in one go, the crimson wine staining his collar.

Behind him

stood newly initiated members of the Donquixote Family—survivors of countless battles.

Among them was a purple-haired man in golden armor: Krieg, once a fleet admiral.

Then there was Axe-Hand Morgan, a former East Blue Navy captain who defected.

Now calling himself Axe Emperor Morgan, he had sworn to cleave off Luffy's head and erase his past humiliation.

The players who'd failed to earn a place in the family

were assigned to the [Flamingo Corps].

Whoever performed best during the monster hunt would be promoted.

"Aokiji, Sakazuki, Borsalino."

Vice Admiral Tsuru's tone was grim. "You three just became players—you haven't had enough time to grow strong. Your job is to stall Whitebeard."

Even if they could buy fate items from the Game Shop,

Death Island was sealed. Without hunting corrupted monsters, Admirals couldn't wear new gear due to low stats.

So even if they had powerful skills,

their raw attributes were too low to compete with top-tier players.

Thus,

their best use was to fight other new players—

and eliminating the Whitebeard Pirates in one strike was the optimal move.

"Garp and Smoker…"

Tsuru frowned as she saw Garp dozing off again.

"Fleet Admiral Sengoku's latest funding just hit your accounts. Use it to continue strengthening yourselves and prepare to fight the Revolutionary leader."

The military budget was drained.

Sengoku had already made a desperate gamble—this money came from selling off Marine bases.

Once the Corrupted Lord was slain,

the East Blue campaign would end.

And if the World Government regained control and the Marines weren't independent enough…

they would vanish from the seas altogether.

Sengoku understood the stakes.

But it was also the only chance to break free from the World Government and reclaim true justice.

"Understood."

Smoker nodded solemnly.

Once a captain at Loguetown, he had risen to become the fourth Marine Admiral: [Venom Dragon].

He showed no fear.

His only goal was to eliminate all pirates and uphold justice—whether as a captain or an admiral, that wouldn't change.

Inside the Game Shop

"What a shame. I didn't awaken Crimson Chains…"

Crimson Troll bloodline abilities were randomized.

Whitebeard discovered that his awakened ability wasn't the psychic link of Crimson Resonance,

nor the healing power of Crimson Bloodspring,

nor the resurrection potential of Crimson Chains.

It was a brand-new ability.

Buzz—

A wave of crimson energy burst forth,

quickly forming blood-colored shields, scimitars, and katana-like blades.

[Crimson Blood Arms Lv.1]: Consumes energy from the crimson core to provide allied units with blood-infused weapons.

Slash!

Whitebeard swung Murakumogiri at one of the shields—

and was shocked to see it hold, only cracking slightly.

With his strength, even without using Haki or his Devil Fruit, ordinary weapons shattered easily.

Yet this shield had endured.

And then—

Whitebeard manipulated the blood weapons to fuse together,

forming a crimson wall the size of a fortress.

"They can combine… The more blood arms gathered, the stronger they become."

Whitebeard's eyes gleamed. "This is a powerful team-based skill. It'll double the Whitebeard Pirates' coordination in battle."

He had been a little disappointed at first—

but now he was stunned at how useful the ability was.

"Even though family tokens can't be purchased here, all of the Troll's innate abilities can still be drawn from the Game Shop—so long as you have enough points."

Fang Yi smiled politely.

Once you hit a player's weakness, they'd spend all they had.

And the Crimson Troll's potential alone was enough to bleed the Whitebeard Pirates dry.

"I've still got some reward points left…"

Whitebeard nodded confidently and turned back to the Game Shop's shelves.

The first [Random Key] appeared.

Let the spending begin!
