Chapter 33 - Huolian Pov (1)

In the boundless planes of the Great Thousand World, power reigned supreme and bloodlines determined destiny.

Among the myriad of ancient clans that ruled over the celestial realm, one stood out not only for its heritage but for the beauty and cunning of its people—the Celestial Fox Clan.

And among them, a prodigy was born.

She was named Huolian.

she carried a bloodline so pure it drew reverence from elders and envy from peers. Her comprehension was unmatched, her talent frightening. At the mere age of 30, she ascended to the Sovereign Realm—a feat akin to reaching the Dou venerable level in the lesser worlds.

By comparison, in the Dou Qi Continent, other than ancient clans- even reaching Dou king before fifty was enough to be hailed a once-in-a-century genius.

But Huolian?

She was a blazing comet streaking across the heavens.

Too bright.

Too fast.

Too wild.

Despite her clan's repeated warnings, Huolian was playful, unruly, and full of wanderlust. She had no interest in political marriages or solemn duties. What she craved was adventure—uncharted realms, forbidden lands, ancient ruins where danger and discovery danced hand in hand.

So one day, without telling anyone, she vanished from her clan and began her journey across the continents of the Great Thousand World.

---

On one such journey, Huolian stumbled upon a collapsed ancient secret realm. A flicker of mystery in its broken seal intrigued her.

> "I've got my life-saving talismans. What could possibly go wrong?"

She smirked, waving a jade slip gifted by a late-stage Spirit Heavenly Sovereign—one that could preserve her life even through a world-ending catastrophe.

(...Famous last words.)

The moment she stepped in, the secret realm imploded.

Reality twisted.

Space shattered.

A storm of endless void swallowed her.

Time lost all meaning.

---

Her talisman held… for a while.

But even divine protections have limits.

When the storm's fury finally waned, she was but a fragment of herself. Her divine energy depleted, her soul worn thin.

To survive, Huolian made a heart-wrenching decision.

She burned her own tails.

Each tail a manifestation of her cultivation and essence.

From seven, she dropped to three—a fall from Sovereign to a mere Dou Grandmaster by the standards of the Dou Qi Continent.

---

When she finally regained consciousness, she found herself lying in a strange, barren land.

The stars were wrong.

The skies felt small.

The world lacked Origin Energy.

It was the Dou Qi Continent—a sealed lower plane, cut off from the Great Thousand World.

> "This place… it's suffocating."

The highest cultivators here were mere Dou Saint, beings that barely scratched the surface of Earth Sovereign power in her old world.

Without Origin Energy, her strength was capped. She couldn't cultivate forward. Couldn't return home.

She was trapped.

Worse still—her injuries and loss of tails had locked her in her beast form, a beautiful snow-white three-tailed fox. She couldn't speak, couldn't access her spatial ring, and her spiritual communication was sealed by the dimensional imbalance.

> "Tch... how disgraceful."

The once-proud genius of the Celestial Fox Clan was now stuck in a fluffy form, no different than a particularly majestic house pet.

---

For weeks, Huolian wandered the mountains in frustration, brooding, sulking, and occasionally taking out her rage on unsuspecting beasts. They never stood a chance.

Then... one day, something changed.

She was nibbling on a crimson soulfruit near a cliff when a young human stumbled upon her.

His red hair fluttered in the wind, his clothes tattered, crimson eyes bright with spirit, wearing a half face covering mask. His aura barely registered—1-Star Dou Fighter, laughably weak.

And yet...

He squatted, smiled, and pointed at her.

> "Aww... you're adorable."

Huolian froze.

Her eye twitched.

> Did this… mortal just call me cute?

She lunged and dropkicked him into a tree.

It didn't kill him.

But it bruised his body—and his pride.

From that moment on, Xiao Ranyu, that absurdly bold mortal, became her entertainment.

He tried to hunt her.

She beat him black and blue.

He tried to trap her.

She outmaneuvered him, stole his food, tripped him mid-training, and once dropped a dead fish into his soup pot just to watch his reaction.

> "If I could speak, I'd mock him until he cried. Hmph."

But something unexpected happened.

She began to look forward to their encounters.

Each day, he'd train, grow a little stronger, glare at her from his muddy fort with renewed determination.

And each day, she'd flick her tail, tease him, and vanish with a smug little twirl.

> "Tch. I'm stuck in this realm... with a buffoon."

But the buffoon was amusing.

She couldn't leave this world.

She couldn't return to her clan.

But at least… she wouldn't be bored.

---

This world stinks.

Not just the air—though it's dusty and thin, devoid of Origin Energy—but everything.

The beasts are dumb, the sky feels low, and the strongest expert here? A so-called "Dou Saint"? Equivalent to half step earth sovereign at it's peak is not even enough to stir up any waves in the great thousand world. To even step into the rank of strong, you have to be a earth sovereign equivalent to a Dou great emperor here.

Huolian lay sprawled on a sun-warmed rock near a waterfall, letting the mountain breeze brush through her snowy fur. Her three tails flicked lazily behind her—what remained of her former glory.

> Seven tails to three. And for what? One stupid secret realm. Ugh.

She sighed dramatically, resting her chin on her paws.

Then she heard him again.

That human.

The funny one.

The one with crimson hair, face covered with mask, flame mark between his eyebrows, eyes that danced between pride and panic, and—most importantly—the one who called her "adorable" like she was some roadside pet.

> Xiao Ranyu... you rude, idiotic, stubborn little human.

As for how she knew his name? She knew it when Xiao Ranyu was talking to himself.

She peeked over the ledge.

There he was again. Shirtless. Under a waterfall. Trying to balance Dou Qi flow like some kind of monk.

Huolian's eyes sparkled.

> Oh? He's trying again today?

She watched for a while, tail twitching in amusement.

His focus was admirable, but the way his foot slipped slightly on the mossy stone... the way his jaw tensed when he thought no one was watching...

> Too fun.

She stood, gave her fur a quick shake, and leapt silently down.

---

He didn't notice her at first.

Even better.

She crept closer behind him, tongue flicking over her lips.

> Should I slap him into the river? Nah. Too easy. Let's try the tail tickle today.

One tail dipped into the water, then slithered up like a cold snake—touching the small of his back, up the spine…

> Three... two... one—

"W-WHA—!?"

SPLASH.

> And down he goes. Pfft—

She bit her tongue not to laugh. But her body trembled with silent amusement as he face-planted into mud.

> He should thank me. This builds mental fortitude.

---

Later that evening, she tracked him again.

He was trying to meditate. Very focused.

> But I'm bored.

So she hopped onto his lap and curled up there.

He froze.

> Too easy.

She tickledhis chin.

> And there it is—the blush, the panic, the flailing. Worth it every time.

He tossed her off.

She landed flawlessly, flicked her tails with smug elegance, and pranced off just enough for him to see her hips sway.

> Come on, human. Try and ignore me now.

---

Night.

She was cold.

Annoyingly so.

And the fire he lit was just the right warmth.

She padded silently over, sniffed the edge of his beast pelt… then climbed on top of his chest without asking.

He opened one eye.

She stared down at him like a queen judging her favorite servant.

> "You're not gonna let me sleep, are you?" he mumbled.

She purred, then curled up on his chest. His heartbeat thumped beneath her like a lullaby.

> Warm. Steady. Foolish.

> But he is funny…

Her tails wrapped over her body.

> Sleep well, Xiao Ranyu. I'll be watching when you fall on your face again tomorrow.
