The Lord continued, saying, "This is what you must do to set apart Aaron and his sons so they may serve Me as priests: Take a young bull and two rams without defect, along with bread made from fine wheat flour without yeast—cakes mixed with oil and wafers spread with oil. Place them in a basket and bring them with the bull and the two rams.
Bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting and wash them with water. Dress Aaron in the sacred garments: the tunic, the robe of the ephod, the ephod itself, and the breastpiece. Fasten the ephod on him with its woven waistband, place the turban on his head, and attach the sacred diadem to it. Pour the anointing oil on his head to anoint him. Then clothe his sons in tunics, sashes, and headbands, ordaining them for the priesthood, which is theirs by a lasting ordinance.
Bring the bull before the Tent of Meeting, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on its head. Slaughter it in My presence and apply some of its blood with your finger to the horns of the altar, pouring the rest at its base. Take the fat around the inner parts, the covering of the liver, and the kidneys with the fat on them, and burn them on the altar. But burn the flesh, hide, and offal outside the camp, for it is a sin offering.
Then take one of the rams, and after Aaron and his sons lay their hands on its head, slaughter it and sprinkle its blood on all sides of the altar. Cut it into pieces, wash the inner parts and legs, and place them with the head and the other pieces. Burn the whole ram on the altar as a burnt offering—a pleasing aroma to the Lord.
Take the other ram, and after Aaron and his sons lay their hands on its head, slaughter it and place some of its blood on the lobes of their right ears, the thumbs of their right hands, and the big toes of their right feet. Sprinkle the rest against the altar. Then take some of the blood and some of the anointing oil and sprinkle it on Aaron, his sons, and their garments, so that they and their garments are consecrated.
From this ram take the fat, the fat tail, the fat around the inner parts, the covering of the liver, the kidneys, and the right thigh. From the basket of bread before the Lord, take one loaf, one cake made with oil, and one wafer. Place them in the hands of Aaron and his sons, and wave them before the Lord as a wave offering. Then take them back and burn them on the altar along with the burnt offering as a pleasing aroma to the Lord. The breast of the ram is to be waved as a wave offering and will belong to Moses, while the breast and thigh are consecrated as the permanent share for Aaron and his sons from the fellowship offerings of the Israelites.
Aaron's sacred garments are to be passed down to his descendants, so that whoever succeeds him as priest may wear them for seven days when he is ordained and enters the Tent of Meeting to minister in the Holy Place. Take the meat of the ram and cook it in a sacred place, and Aaron and his sons shall eat it, along with the bread from the basket, at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting. They must eat the food that was used to make atonement for their ordination; no one else may eat it, for it is sacred. If any of the meat or bread is left until morning, it must be burned, for it is holy.
Do all this for Aaron and his sons exactly as I have commanded, taking seven days to ordain them. Each day sacrifice a bull as a sin offering to make atonement, purify the altar, and anoint it to make it holy. For seven days atone for the altar, and then it will be most holy, and whatever touches it will be holy.
Each day, offer two lambs a year old as regular burnt offerings: one in the morning and the other at twilight. With the first lamb, offer fine flour mixed with oil from pressed olives, and a drink offering of wine. Offer the second lamb at twilight with the same grain and drink offering, a pleasing aroma to the Lord.
For the generations to come, these burnt offerings are to be made at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, where I will meet you and speak to you. There I will meet the Israelites, and the place will be made holy by My glory. I will consecrate the Tent of Meeting, the altar, and Aaron and his sons, that they may serve Me as priests. Then I will dwell among the Israelites and be their God. They will know that I am the Lord their God, who brought them out of Egypt so that I might dwell among them. I am the Lord their God."
