Chapter 155 - Chapter 155: Snow Empress

Chapter 155: Snow Empress

"Human, prepare to die!"

A colossal Titan Snow Demon, fully 120 meters tall, appeared. It was as imposing as a towering mountain; compared to it, the Titan Giant Ape and the Sky Blue Bull Python were nothing but a small bun and a long chili pepper. In terms of sheer size, perhaps only Di Tian and the Deep Sea Demon Whale King surpassed it.

The Titan Snow Demon swung its massive fist, a white radiance surging around it. As though guided by some force, the icy energy of the Extreme North converged on that fist. Its blow, comparable to a level-97 Title Douluo's attack, actually reached the pinnacle of level 97 thanks to the Extreme North's boost.

Nine spirit rings—two yellow, two purple, four black, and one red—appeared at Qian Xunji's feet, and three pairs of golden angelic wings spread behind him. His first spirit ring lit up beneath his feet.

Angel Assault.

A golden shield collided with the Titan Snow Demon's white fist, producing a thunderous boom. An avalanche crashed down all around them, burying the spot where Qian Xunji and the Titan Snow Demon stood under a world of swirling wind and snow.

Floating in midair, Qian Xunji looked down at the thick snow. Beneath it, the Titan Snow Demon's enormous body lay prone, its imposing aura much diminished. Its right arm was swollen, and bright-blue blood seeped out—not crimson, but blue, containing some strange energy that kept it from freezing immediately even in such low temperatures.

At that moment, Qian Xunji sensed a swift, terrifyingly icy presence rushing toward him. A flash of seriousness flickered in his eyes as his Angel spirit power formed a holy sword aimed at the Titan Snow Demon King's neck.

"You're the one who's going to die."

The holy sword descended at incredible speed. But a blue silhouette, faster still, appeared in front of the Titan Snow Demon King. Wherever that figure passed, the surrounding area of the Extreme North turned the same icy-blue hue, as though lending her power. She didn't make the slightest movement; even so, Qian Xunji's soul-power-condensed holy sword, which had been plunging downward, froze on its own. Starting at the tip, it turned to ice bit by bit, morphing into a giant ice sword.

The ice sword then slowly reversed and shot back, moving even faster than before, cutting through the air with the sound of rending space.

"Bang!"

The ice sword shattered, transforming into fragments that scattered like countless shards of ice. Through those shards, Qian Xunji gazed upon the blue figure. The dense blue radiance—the purest of ice-attribute energy—retracted around her. Revealed was an impossibly perfect silhouette, so flawless that even those with god-given looks, like Xiao Wu or Bibi Dong in her reawakened Rakshasa God form, fell short.

She had a pair of sky-blue eyes, clear and pure as though they could see through everything in the world. She regarded Qian Xunji with loathing and murderous intent. Her long, snow-white hair hung behind her, reaching all the way down to her feet. Tall and slender, she wore a simple white gown devoid of ornamentation, yet it radiated an otherworldly grace and cold beauty—like plum blossoms blooming in the bitterest snow, noble and unsullied.

"Snow Empress," the Titan Snow Demon King said, its voice weak as it struggled to get up and salute.

"Ah Tai, you're hurt. No need to stand on ceremony."

Casting a glance at the Titan Snow Demon King, the Snow Empress turned her beautiful eyes back to Qian Xunji. Her voice, though clear and pleasant, was as cold as if it could freeze the air.

"Successor of the Angel God, you have disturbed the peace of the Extreme North, intending to kill the Three Heavenly Kings of the Extreme North. Are you planning to tear up the agreement that has stood for a thousand years?"

"Agreement? What agreement?"

Qian Xunji's face showed a hint of confusion. Did Spirit Hall really have some sort of agreement with the Extreme North?

Meanwhile, in the Heaven Dou Empire, a golden meteor streaked across the sky at incredible speed, heading straight for the Extreme North. He had six wings on his back and held an ancient-looking golden longsword about four feet in length. The blade glimmered sharply, the guard carved with angel wings. Faint golden currents seemed to flow along the sword, as if countless rays of light were churning within it.

This sword was the Angelic Holy Sword, the divine weapon of the Angel God. As the Grand Worshipper, Qian Daoliu could borrow a portion of its divine power with great effort.

Countless years ago, a mighty clan with ice-attribute martial spirits went on a rampage in the Extreme North, slaughtering soul beasts. Enraged, the Extreme North rose up, and the Three Heavenly Kings, along with all the powerful soul beasts there, slaughtered every human soul master who entered.

Humans were greedy, and naturally, soul beasts could be greedy, too.

A terrifying beast tide wiped out all the soul masters in the Extreme North and the Ice-Sealed Forest, then charged out of the region to attack the human world. The Angel God Grand Worshipper of that time—a millennium ago—was also the Hall Master of the Douluo Hall. Receiving word of the invasion, he immediately took the Angelic Holy Sword and led several Title Douluo and countless high-level soul masters to annihilate every soul beast that had broken out of the Extreme North to attack humans, then pressed on into the Extreme North, triggering yet another cataclysmic battle.

How could the Extreme North possibly withstand the Angel God Grand Worshipper wielding the Angelic Holy Sword? The soul beasts suffered devastating losses, and their numbers plummeted. Even now, they had not fully recovered. The Extreme North, vastly larger than the Star Dou Forest, could have accommodated far more soul beasts, but after that war, it had far fewer beasts left than the Star Dou Forest.

Were it not for the Snow Empress, the Ice Jade Emperor Scorpion clan, and the Titan Snow Demon King all being linked to the Ice God—particularly since the Titan Snow Demons were a race left behind by the Ice God—those clans might have been wiped out. Whether the Snow Empress could have been killed was uncertain, but the other two clans almost certainly would have faced annihilation.

In the end, the Angel God Grand Worshipper of that era forced the Extreme North to sign a tyrannical pact similar to the one with the Slaughter City: any beast that came out to cause trouble would be killed without mercy.

Naturally, the Snow Empress and the Extreme North soul beasts had been enraged to the extreme, believing that humans had provoked them first and that they were merely fighting back. Yet in the end, all blame was pinned on the Extreme North, and they were forced to sign that humiliating agreement. The reality of their situation left them no choice; to protect the soul beasts of the Extreme North, they had to agree.

From that point on, humans became entirely synonymous with greed, shamelessness, treachery, pettiness, and despicability in the eyes of the Snow Empress and all the Extreme North soul beasts.

"So that's how it was. I never expected our ancestors to be so strong. And yet in my generation, all that remains is rank 99; I can't even wield the Angelic Holy Sword."

Qian Xunji looked down at his hands, a lonely, bitter expression appearing in his eyes. Anyone who knew him well would see that a certain "Grandmaster of Acting" was at it again.

The Snow Empress heard Qian Xunji's words, and her beautiful eyes narrowed slightly. She could sense that Qian Xunji truly couldn't use the Angelic Holy Sword, and his spirit ring configuration wasn't eight black and one red. Compared to the Angel God's successor of a thousand years ago, this one was indeed much weaker.

Which meant the chance to take revenge, to make the Angel Clan repay the Extreme North in blood, had finally arrived!
