The night before the synthesis, the workshop was transformed into a sanctuary. The main hangar bay outside was sealed, its massive blast doors closed and locked. A heavy, mag-locked security door separated them from the rest of the world, its glowing red light a clear warning to stay away.

The sound of the lock engaging was final. On the other side of that door, Seraph stood guard. Her posture was rigid, her hands clasped behind her back, her expression unreadable. Jax and Titus stood with her, an informal honor guard.
They didn't fully understand what was about to happen in that room. The technical details were beyond them. But they knew it was important. They knew Jonah was about to attempt something that had never been done before, something that could change everything. Seraph had staked her entire career, her reputation, and her unwavering belief on the boy in that room. The very least they could do was make sure no one bothered him.
