Chapter 102 - Azazel, the King of the Seas

Chapter 101 – Azazel, the King of the Seas

Despite a few unexpected incidents, the Three Factions Summit finally ended in peace.

With the blessings of the leaders of Heaven, Hell, and Grigori—and witnessed by both Heavenly Dragons—the historic treaty known as the Three Great Powers Alliance was officially signed.

For the first time in a bloody, age-old history filled with war and vengeance, the three once-hostile factions agreed to a true, lasting truce.

Once the conference concluded, Serafall Leviathan, Sirzechs Lucifer, and Archangel Michael returned to their respective domains.

Affairs in Heaven and the Underworld were never simple. Their presence was needed.

But there was one person who chose a different path.

Azazel—the former Governor General of Grigori—made a rather unexpected move after the treaty was signed.

He resigned.

And instead of returning to the Grigori base... he decided to stay in Kuoh City.

Not only that—he officially joined Kuoh Academy as a teacher.

To be precise... as the faculty advisor of the Occult Research Club.

And just like that, the club finally had an "official superior."

Kuoh Academy – Old Building – Occult Research Clubroom

The main seat, usually occupied by Rias Gremory, was now taken by a man draped in a long black coat, wearing a carefree grin like it belonged there.

"Azazel… I get that you're not going back to Grigori. But why become a teacher here of all places? And seriously? You even applied to be our club advisor?" Akira asked, clearly unimpressed.

He didn't like having someone—especially a former leader of a major faction—suddenly placed above him in the club hierarchy.

Azazel chuckled with a sly smile. "It wasn't entirely my idea, you know. Sirzechs asked me. Couldn't exactly say no, could I?"

Rias blinked in surprise. "Onii-sama did...? But he never mentioned anything about this to me..."

"After the Kokabiel incident—even though Akira handled it brilliantly—there's always the risk of something worse showing up. Sirzechs asked me to stay here and keep an eye on things. Think of me as... insurance. And maybe a part-time mentor while I'm at it."

"I see... If it was Onii-sama's request, then I understand."

Rias sighed. She knew well how heavy her brother's burdens were. If this was for her protection, she wouldn't complain.

"Honestly," Azazel added, stretching lazily in his chair, "it's a way better gig. Being Governor was way too stressful. Now I can take it easy—and indulge in my favorite hobby... researching Sacred Gears."

"Hmph. 'Researching Sacred Gears,' huh?" Akira snorted. "Wouldn't 'wandering the red-light districts and avoiding responsibility' be more accurate?"

Silence.

Every member of the club stared at Azazel in disbelief.

A Fallen Angel. Once a high-ranking angel of Heaven. One of the brightest minds in all existence...

And that's how he spent his free time?

Given his status, charm, and everything else… getting a girl shouldn't be hard.

Azazel's expression twitched. Akira's bluntness had hit a little too close to home.

His new role as a 'teacher' might not survive much longer at this rate.

"Anyway," Akira continued, changing the subject, "there's something I've been meaning to ask."

"Oh? What is it?"

"Raynare. The Fallen Angel who was assigned to Kuoh. She was one of your agents, right?"

"Raynare...? Yeah, she was under my command. But if I remember correctly... you're the one who took her out."

"That's not the point. What I want to know is—if she was so obsessed with you... why didn't you accept her? She went as far as stealing Asia's Sacred Gear just to get your attention."

Azazel fell silent.

That question struck deeper than expected. Even for him, the answer wasn't simple.

Asia, who had been listening quietly nearby, stared into the distance.

She remembered all too well—how she had ended up with the Fallen Angels not because she wanted to, but because she had nowhere else to go after being cast out by the Church.

Raynare had approached her with kindness... only to betray her.

"I'm waiting," Akira pressed, his tone sharpening. "Or is this just another one of your... unusual preferences?"

"It's not like that," Azazel muttered, sighing. "It's just... girls who throw themselves at me that hard? It kills the thrill. I've met way too many of them... and let's just say... I've already enjoyed my fair share."

"..."

Akira raised an eyebrow and thought to himself, This guy's living the dream of every man on Earth.

It really wasn't surprising. Azazel had once been an Ultimate-Class Angel—his charisma and influence were legendary.

And after falling, becoming the head of Grigori?

Yeah, he was drowning in women.

Some even said he fell from Heaven because he was too curious about worldly pleasures.

So in a way, this level of experience… made sense.

"Then why are you still into normal women? The ones who aren't angels, devils, or anything supernatural?"

Azazel gave a relaxed smile.

"Because after years of dining on the finest gourmet... sometimes, you just crave street food. It's a different flavor—raw, unexpected. Memorable."

"…You're seriously the King of the Seas."

Rias muttered, rubbing her temple. She was starting to question whether letting Azazel near students had been a wise move.

King of the Seas—a man who docked in every romantic harbor he could find. And Azazel? He was the living embodiment of the title.

Akira let out a long sigh. Equal parts impressed... and envious.

But Azazel wasn't done yet.

"By the way, Akira," he said, suddenly perking up, "can I take a look at your Sacred Gears? Just for research purposes. Boosted Gear and Chains of Heaven... Just a quick scan, I swear."

He looked far too eager.

It was another reason he had accepted this teaching job—those two Sacred Gears.

The Boosted Gear, one of the original thirteen Longinus.

And Chains of Heaven—an unrecorded, god-tier Sacred Gear with no historical precedent.

For Azazel, this was like being handed two holy grails on a silver platter.

CRACK—!

Suddenly, a golden chain whipped through the air and embedded itself in the wall, inches from Azazel's head.

He blinked, turning his eyes toward it slowly.

"...Heh. That was close."

"The next one," Akira said flatly, "will go straight for your head."

His tone was deadly serious.

This wasn't a negotiation.

His Sacred Gears weren't toys for experimentation.

Not even for someone like Azazel.
