Chapter 94 – Black Goliath!
Srak—
Srak—
Srak—
Massacre.
There was no better word to describe what was happening. No other term came close to capturing the sheer devastation unfolding across the dungeon.
Only one word was worthy: massacre.
Hundreds—no, thousands—of shadowy figures surged forward, slaughtering everything in their path. Like a flood of living darkness, they devoured everything in sight, leaving nothing but void behind.
After Shin Akira's legacy inheritance reached 75% synchronization, two new Shadowkhan units had unlocked: Alien Khan and Devourer Khan, along with two new types of shadow entities—Softshadow and Shadoweater.
Softshadows weren't built for direct combat, but their elastic bodies and shapeshifting capabilities made them an unpredictable menace on the battlefield.
Meanwhile, the Shadoweaters… were terrifying.
Born from the Devourer Khan line, these small, grotesque creatures grew stronger by consuming other shadows. The more they devoured, the more monstrous they became.
Among all shadow units, the Shadoweaters had the lowest floor... but potentially the highest ceiling.
To top it off, reaching 75% also boosted Akira's summoning limit—he could now summon 512 units per battalion.
With seven battalions under his command, that meant a staggering 3,584 Shadowkhan soldiers at once.
A full-blown military force.
And now, Akira had only one target in mind as he marched into the dungeon—the Floor Boss of the 17th Level.
The monster sealed behind the infamous Cry Wall: Goliath.
— — —
"O-Oi… what the hell is that? A Monster Feast?"
On the upper levels, a small party of adventurers froze in place, staring in mute horror at the swarm below them.
An endless wave of shadowy monsters moved in perfect formation, speeding across the floor with an inhuman rhythm. Their sheer presence pressed down like a tidal wave, drowning hope itself.
"What do we do…?"
One of them turned to the others, pale and trembling.
"What else? We hide."
"Agreed."
"Move! Before they notice us!"
"Pray to the gods…"
The four scrambled for cover, squeezing into a crack between fallen stones.
As the endless legions of shadow ninja marched past—each with their own terrifying appearance—they held their breath, convinced death had already reached their doorstep.
Minutes passed. Silence returned.
The adventurers collapsed where they hid, completely drained. The swift attacker's hand still gripped his dagger, shaking uncontrollably.
That sensation—of standing a single step from death. Like walking a tightrope over hell itself.
It would haunt them forever.
— — —
"What… what were those things?"
"Don't ask. Don't think. Don't wonder. We're just insects… and we better act like insects."
Their captain spoke in a hushed, hollow voice. His face was pale with fear.
During the march, he had accidentally locked eyes with one of the shadow soldiers.
It wasn't a human gaze.
It was the gaze of slaughter, darkness, and pure destruction.
He didn't know what they were—but every survival instinct in his body screamed at him to run and never look back.
No one laughed at him.
They'd all tasted that same abyss. And if they were still alive… it was only because those black soldiers didn't deem them worthy of killing.
That… was their salvation.
They helped each other up and stumbled away from the dungeon, vowing not to return—at least not for a long, long while.
Meanwhile, the shadow army pressed deeper—until they reached the 17th floor. A massive cavern sealed off by crystalline walls known as the Cry Wall.
Srrtt—
A rift tore open in the air, surrounded by Knightshade guards. And from within the darkness… Shin Akira stepped out.
His control over the Shadow Realm had grown immensely. He no longer needed to return to the central capital of his shadow domain to teleport. As long as there was a shadow, he could connect two points and pass through—like an instant gate.
A smile curled at the corner of his lips as he surveyed the battlefield.
He lifted his hand, and golden divine light flickered to life in his palm.
In the next instant—
The entire 17th floor trembled.
The bright glow that usually illuminated this level began to dim, as if dusk had fallen and night was taking hold.
Something ancient and overwhelming stirred behind the crystalline walls.
Shin Akira narrowed his eyes at the wall in front of him.
Bang!
A massive black fist punched straight through the Cry Wall, shattering it into glittering fragments.
From the ruins, an enormous figure emerged—muscular, monstrous, and seething with violent energy.
Goliath.
The very first Floor Boss ever discovered in the dungeon.
Its threat level? Level 4. A disaster-tier monster.
But this… wasn't just any Goliath.
This… was a Black Goliath.
— — —
Once in a while, the dungeon would give birth to Black Monsters—enhanced variants empowered directly by the dungeon's will.
Even a Floor Boss could be reborn as a variant… and that's exactly what Akira now faced.
This Goliath wasn't Level 4. It was Level 5.
A nightmare to nearly every adventurer alive.
In all of Orario, adventurers of Level 5 could be counted on one hand.
Awooooo—!
The monster's roar echoed through the entire floor.
Its glowing crimson eyes locked directly onto Shin Akira—not at his face, but at the golden divine essence glowing in his hand.
It wasn't just any power.
It was the divine energy of a god.
Back when he killed Ishtar, Akira had extracted and preserved a sliver of her divine power—for this exact purpose.
In Orario, there was a sacred law: Gods must never enter the dungeon.
Why? Because the dungeon… hates divine presence.
No one knows why. But if even a fragment of divine power enters its depths…
The dungeon responds.
And it gives birth to monsters like the Black Goliath.
— — —
It was true that gods couldn't die.
But they could be consumed.
If the dungeon were to devour the essence of a god before that god could resurrect and reclaim it…
Then all restrictions would break.
And if dungeon-born monsters absorbed divine energy…
Then this world… would truly be plunged into ruin.
