I was on my way to the East Wing of the mansion when I decided to use the corridor instead of the stairs. "I don't know who you are. Neither do I want to know. All I know is that Beta King Xerxes is mine. He is supposed to be my mate so stay the fuck away from him." I heard a growl. Frowning, I walked faster. Turning round the corner leading to the corridor, I found Christina glaring at Clarissa. Clarissa looked sad and defeated, totally defenseless as if what the girl was saying was true. Storming towards them, I said,"if he had really belonged to you, he would have realized it the moment he had laid his eyes on you. Furthermore, I think you should take your problems to the one who did the pairing, don't you think so too, Christina?" I asked, standing in between them. We were almost of the same height but Christina was taller than Clarissa and I by an inch or half.
Christina glared at both of us, speechless for a long time before she growled out. "You stupid humans do not deserve the Alpha King and the Beta King. You are totally worlds apart. They need mates who are stronger and matured, not immatured little defenseless teenage girls like you!" Anger filled me up as I raised my hand and landed a tight slap on face. Her eyes turned red and her canine teeth elongated. Clarissa held me back, scared but I patted her hand as Christina snarled at me. Smugly, I folded my arms and smirked. "That's all you can do. You wouldn't dare try to attack your Queen. You know that and your wolf unfortunately, agrees with you." Her eyes widened as the anger faded away. "That's what I thought." I scoffed. Taking a step towards her, she also took two steps back. "Now, Christina, this should be the very last time you ever, in your miserable life, try to bully my best friend or I again. Today, I slapped you. Consider yourself lucky because I don't know how to fight like you wolves. Next time, I can't guarantee that I will be so lenient on you." I warned her.
Stomping her foot, she grumpily stormed off, crying hysterically. Rolling my eyes, I turned to find Clarissa in tears. "What's wrong?" I asked. "I think she's right, Aelia." She sobbed, sniffling. "About what?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. "We being worlds apart. Xerxes particularly needs someone stronger. Not a crybaby like me." As Clarissa's words sank in, I also began to think about it. I didn't deserve Cyrus at all. A ferocious growl startled me. A hand grabbed my arm roughly, pulling me towards the East Wing and I turned to see Cyrus. "Cyrus?" I asked. Ignoring me, he pulled me into our room. "I can smell it and it annoys me, Aelia." He growled angrily. Confused, I started checking myself. Did I smell? He walked to me and held my face gently. "You are doubting yourself, why?" He asked, looking me in the eyes.
Tearfully, I replied, "I don't deserve you at all, Cyrus." His eyes softened as he hugged me. I wrapped my arms around his torso, quietly sobbing. "Aelia, why do you never see what I see? How do you want me to make you realize that it is this world that does not deserve you. You want me to fuck you? Spank you or lash you?" He growled. "But I am not strong and I am also immatured." I sobbed. Unexpectedly, he pulled away and grabbed my cheeks, forcefully trying to kiss me. I tried to push him away. With all my might, I pushed him by the chest and he fell on the bed.
"Now tell me, who said that you are not strong?" He asked. He tried to force me to prove a point. I kept quiet. "Nobody is strong until they face trouble. Nobody is matured until they face life challenges and they're able to make it, Aelia." He said. Walking to me, he kissed my head. "You are a Queen." I nodded. We fell into a comfortable silence before he growled, "seriously, one of these days, I am going to fuck the insecurities out of you." I blushed. "Am I forgiven though?" He asked. Looking up at him, I said, "you're forgiven but you're still taking the couch."
"Aelia, please." He pleaded but I shook my head. If I let him have his way, he will repeat it. "You will do it again." I said firmly. Cyrus sighed as he went to sit in the couch. Shaking my head, I walked out to explore the place. I found Xavier in the hall. "Where's everyone?" I asked. "Out exploring along with Xerxes. That girl, Christina? She needs to rest. You need to see Clarissa, she won't smile at anyone." He said, chuckling, continuing to type on his phone. Christina. I sighed. I needed to do something about her. I stormed out and two guards began to follow me. First, it was Xerxes, now, pack guards. Not in the mood to talk, I walked out into the night.
Outside, the streets were lit. People were still around. Shops were still open. I felt eyes on me. As I passed by, I greeted and they looked at me in shock. Some also responded to my greeting. Some children ran to me. Shocked, I looked down and hugged them. "What are you little children doing out here so late in the night?" I asked, smiling at them. One little girl shyly replied,"we are playing." Chuckling, I cautioned,"then be careful okay? See you!" I waved at them and walked away. They also giggled and ran out of sight.
I met Xerxes and my family on my way back to the mansion. Clarissa just trailed behind them with a sad look on her face while Christina held Xerxes's arm. Xerxes was so engrossed in playing tour guide that he didn't even notice his own mate. Shaking my head, I walked to them. I pulled Clarissa and walked past them, deliberately bumping into Xerxes's arm so that he would see us. It was about time I talked to Clarissa.
