Chapter 41 - The Kid Who Takes Sides with Outsiders

At this moment.

At the same time.

At the entrance of the small tavern in Yancheng.

A man wearing a suit, with a rose pinned to his pocket and slicked-back hair, clearly tacky at first glance, pushed the door open and walked in.

The moment he entered, he became the center of attention... or rather, the center of attention for one person.

That person was the woman behind the bar.

"Son! Son! Over here!"

The man hurried over.

His name was Liu Peng, a small business owner.

If one word could describe his life, it would be... smooth!

His life had gone too smoothly since he was a child!

He was pampered by his grandparents growing up, and after his family home was demolished, he took the compensation money and opened a shop on the street.

Every day, he sat and played with his phone and had a steady income.

As a member of the second-generation demolition rich, he basically didn't need to work hard—his family's money was enough to support him for a lifetime!

He already had a house and a car.

This kind of life was nearly perfect... except for one thing...

That one thing was his appearance.

He was short, just barely 1.6 meters tall, and his hair was sparse—when seen from above under the light, it was essentially a bald head.

Today, he slicked back his hair to cover his baldness.

"Mom!" Liu Peng reached the bar and jumped onto a chair. "Where's Yaya?"

"She was just here, I think she went to the back with a VIP customer to talk business. Hurry up and check! That guest is a man—he doesn't look decent at all!"

The woman thought no man was decent.

As long as someone interfered with her interests.

Liu Peng's expression changed.

From how he called the owner Yaya instead of "sister-in-law," his attitude was obvious!

Now, Yaya had gone to the back to talk business with a male customer!

Who could tolerate that?

Immediately!

Liu Peng pushed aside the tavern guests in a huff.

"Why are there so many people today! Move aside! This is my family's shop!"

Some of the guests didn't bother arguing with him.

He soon barged into the back and headed straight toward the break room!

When he got near the break room and looked at the door—

He saw.

At the break room entrance, the owner Yaya was holding a meal tray, chatting happily with a man inside the room!

"What are they talking about? Why is that man inside the break room? Damn it!"

Liu Peng immediately flew into a rage and rushed over!

"Yaya! What are you doing? Who is this man!"

He directly began questioning the owner Yaya!

Hearing the voice, both Yaya and Lin Han inside the room looked toward Liu Peng.

Their eyes were filled with confusion.

Lin Han: "Who the hell is this guy?"

Yaya: "Why are you yelling so loudly, Xiao Liu?"

Xiao Liu?

Hearing that name, Liu Peng instantly snapped.

As a second-gen demolition rich, all his friends usually called him Brother Liu!

Xiao Liu? That's not something you just casually call him!

Embarrassing him in front of an outsider like this?

"Yaya, what are you doing? How could you let a man into the break room? What kind of friend is this?"

"This is Lin Han. I just agreed to sign the temporary guardian agreement for Yaya with him. By all means, you should be calling him 'brother.'"

Upon hearing this.

Both Lin Han and Liu Peng were stunned.

Liu Peng never expected that Yaya would actually take things this far—agreeing to a temporary guardian contract for Yaya's daughter, Yaya. Wasn't that basically equivalent to making Lin Han her half-husband?

And Lin Han never expected that the loud conversation he just had with Yaya in the room—clearly audible and potentially awkward—would lead to such a sudden turn of events!

This basically meant she had… tacitly agreed.

At that moment—

The tavern owner Yaya coldly looked at the speechless Liu Peng and said,

"Also, this is my shop. Who I let in and where they go… bluntly speaking, what the hell does that have to do with you?"

"You!!" Liu Peng stared at Yaya in shock, wide-eyed.

He wasn't even as tall as her and had to look up to glare—which only made it look ridiculous.

Liu Peng took deep breaths, finally calming down after a long while.

He suddenly changed tactics, shifting to verbal attacks:

"Yaya, you're my brother's woman. Even though my brother's dead, that doesn't mean you can just fool around with random guys. If you're lonely, talk to the family. We're very open-minded—we'll arrange blind dates for you. Hiding a man in the store like this? Seriously, as a woman, try to have some self-respect!"

Smack—!!

Suddenly.

A loud, crisp slap echoed from the hallway all the way into the main tavern.

Liu Peng, small in stature, was directly knocked to the floor by the slap.

The one who delivered it was the usually quiet Lin Han.

His own hand was swollen from the force.

That's how hard he hit him!

Looking down at Liu Peng, Lin Han said coldly,

"I don't care how outrageous you act in general. But in front of my ward, if you dare insult her mother—then I will have a word with you."

As he spoke—

He stepped forward, planted a foot on Liu Peng's stomach, and started punching his mouth over and over again.

After three punches, Liu Peng's nose was bleeding, and his front teeth were knocked out!

"Ahhh!! Damn it! Stop! He's going to kill me!!"

Liu Peng howled like a dying pig on the floor.

But this was the back area of the tavern. Out front, it was packed with customers, all thrilled by the self-service raffle system.

The noise in the front completely drowned out the chaos in the back.

Liu Peng's screams never made it past the kitchen door.

At that moment—

Boss lady Yaya grabbed Lin Han's arm.

She stopped him.

Then lifted his hand to examine it. His knuckles were already broken.

"Mr. Lin, stop—your hand's all scraped up. You'd better go get a rabies shot. Preferably within 24 hours!"

…What?

Rabies shot?!

Liu Peng, still wailing on the floor, completely broke down when he heard that.

So after getting beat up, no one felt sorry for him—they were actually worried about the guy who beat him up?

And on top of that, they were talking about rabies shots?

Who were they calling a dog!?

Liu Peng was so angry, he cried on the spot!

He was in pain—and humiliated.

Lin Han glanced coldly at Liu Peng, who was curled up on the floor crying, and walked toward the restroom, saying,

"It's fine, I'll just rinse the wound."

Yaya looked at the scene helplessly, then quietly pulled out her phone to call 120 (emergency services).

Just as she was about to dial, Yaya came out of the room.

"Mommy, Uncle Lin is so cool! Are you going to marry Uncle Lin?" she asked sweetly.

"Yaya, don't say things like that~" Yaya replied, flustered.

"I'm your Uncle Liu, Yaya!" Liu Peng, still on the ground, quickly called out when he saw her.

"That man just hit me! Go tell your Second Auntie—tell her to call the police!"

Liu Peng still naïvely believed Yaya was a pure, obedient little girl who could be swayed.

But what he didn't expect at all… was that the moment Yaya heard his voice, she pretended like she didn't.

She acted completely deaf.

"Uncle Lin's bleeding! I'm going to get a first-aid kit for him!"

Oh.

How sweet and caring this little girl was!

…Too bad that kindness was aimed at someone else!

What a kid—always siding with outsiders!
