Chapter 65 - DB | Ch: 65

Somewhere within Universe 7 lies Toki Toki City. This is a realm completely severed from the mortal world, governed by Chronoa, the Supreme Kai of Time.

Inside the Time Vault—the city's heart and Chronoa's residence—the air was thick with tension.

"This is bad... I never imagined things would spiral like this."

The voice belonged to a girl who looked no older than a teenager. She had pale lavender skin and deep pink hair cut into a short bob. Aside from her pointed ears and unique complexion, she looked remarkably human—certainly much more approachable than some of her peers with mohawks and Frieza-like features.

But appearances were deceiving. This was Chronoa, the Supreme Kai of Time. Perched on her shoulder was Toki Toki, a white, owl-like bird that watched the screens with a worried chirp.

"I know, Toki Toki! I know! I can't believe this 'Lisette' girl actually stepped into that domain. Why is someone like her serving as a guardian on a fringe planet? What a total waste of talent!"

Before Chronoa, a projection showed the events on Earth in real-time. Goku and the others were being systematically dismantled by Lisette. For now, it seemed a sliver of her rationality was holding her back from dealing a killing blow, but if she were to be completely consumed by the faith of the universe and fully awaken as a god, the outcome would be catastrophic.

"Is this the work of Towa and her group?"

A silver-haired young man addressed Chronoa. He carried a sword on his back and possessed the aura of a veteran warrior. Beside him stood a Saiyan with distinct, upward-swept hair, wearing green battle armor and watching the screen with crossed arms.

"That they'd alter history only to get destroyed by their own creation? No, that's unlikely," Chronoa replied. "Cell was the trigger, but someone else... someone like Towa who can interfere with time... must have put those ideas in his head."

The Time Patrol had been monitoring the shifts caused by Towa and Mira for a long time. Fortunately, the inhabitants of that timeline—Lisette in particular—had been resolving the distortions on their own, meaning the Patrol rarely had to intervene.

But now, Lisette had lost control. Her power had spiked to a level that far surpassed the two Patrollers—and perhaps even the Supreme Kai of Time herself.

"Wh-what are we supposed to do?" the silver-haired man asked.

"We have to force her to deactivate that technique. She's drawing focus from the entire universe. If we hit her with a powerful enough shock, it might snap her out of the trance long enough for her to stop it herself."

"I see. That's brilliant, Supreme Kai... so, how do we actually land a hit on her?"

"...I have no idea."

The room went silent. Lisette was currently maintaining a barrier that could casually deflect a Final Flash. Her base durability was so high that she hadn't even flinched from Mira's full-power assault. To top it off, her body was reacting to attacks automatically; she couldn't even be touched.

The silver-haired man's shoulders slumped at Chronoa's helpless answer. However, the man beside him let out a gruff huff.

"So we just have to hit her really hard? Simple enough."

"It's not that simple—"

"I think it'll work," the man interrupted. "Besides, I don't 'see' a bad future for us yet."

Unless one knew of his unique abilities, his words would have made little sense. But Chronoa understood. "Fine. It looks like it's your turn. Get ready to move out at a moment's notice."

Trunks stood in a fighting stance, but his heart wasn't in it. He was paralyzed by confusion. This wasn't a sparring match; the idea of fighting Lisette seriously was unthinkable. Moreover, looking at her now, he wasn't even sure if a 'fight' was possible. The gap in their power and spirit was simply too vast.

"Listen up, everyone."

Turles spoke without taking his eyes off Lisette. The usual smugness was gone from his voice. Goku and Piccolo were the same; they all understood that this was a battle they were destined to lose.

"I don't know what happened to the Goddess, but we can't beat her in a straight fight. But... don't her attacks seem a bit slow to you?"

"You're right," Piccolo noted. "With her current power, she could have erased us all in an instant. She has techniques that could turn us to ash before we could blink."

The Namekian admitted their inferiority without hesitation, then began to weave a desperate plan.

"She hasn't fully awakened yet. If we hit her with a massive shock, we might be able to snap her out of it."

"What is she, an old television?" Trunks muttered.

"It's the only chance we have at staying alive," Piccolo snapped.

The conclusion was crude: hit it until it works. There was no guarantee it would succeed, but if they stayed idle, they would eventually be "purified" out of existence.

"So we just go all out, then!" Goku roared, his excitement finally beginning to flare.

"That's the spirit," Turles added, flaring his own ki.

They didn't need to win. They just needed one clean hit. One impact to wake her up. The four warriors bet everything on that single possibility and launched a desperate charge.

"Haaaaaaah!!"

Goku and Piccolo led the frontal assault. They threw their entire weight into their strikes, but their fists never reached her. They were stopped cold by a translucent barrier shimmering around her. They didn't stop, hammering against the wall until their knuckles bled.

"Take this!"

"Dah!"

Trunks and Turles flanked her, unleashed a barrage of kicks. From behind, Nappa lunged to catch her in a full nelson. Nothing worked. The barrier held firm.

Lisette watched their struggle with empty eyes. Slowly, she raised her hand and pointed a finger at Piccolo.

"Now!"

As Piccolo shouted, a beam of light erupted from Lisette's fingertip, punching a hole clean through his chest. But the others didn't stop to mourn. They saw the opening: the moment she attacked, her barrier flickered.

Goku, Turles, Trunks, and Nappa unleashed a frenzy of blows—but to their horror, they couldn't land a hit. Lisette's body swayed and shifted with impossible fluidity. It wasn't just her legendary experience; it was as if her muscles were deciding where to move before the brain even processed the attack.

Lisette caught Trunks in her peripheral vision and blasted him away with telekinetic force. She caught Turles's fist with her left hand and threw him into Goku, stopping both of them in their tracks. Finally, she grabbed Nappa by the head, shook him with enough force to rattle his brain into unconsciousness, and tossed him aside like trash.

Despite being dismantled, Goku and Turles stood their ground, a realization dawning on them.

"I knew it. The barrier drops when she goes on the offensive."

"Yeah," Goku panted. "We can't break that wall, but we have a window of a split-second to hit her when she strikes."

They glanced down at Piccolo. He had been shot down, but his ki was still there. He had popped a Senzu Bean and was currently moving to revive Gohan and Vegeta.

Lisette tilted her head, perhaps noticing they were analyzing her. Then, as if an idea had just occurred to her, she pressed her palms together. Dozens of glowing orbs formed around her, each taking the shape of a person.

"Heroes God Mission."

Just as the Hatchiyack summoned Ghost Warriors from grudges, Lisette was summoning the "Heroic Spirits" of the universe's history.

These were not vengeful ghosts. They were the legends who had built the foundations of peace. The old master who had sealed King Piccolo at the cost of his life. The three Supreme Kais who fell fighting the ancient Majin. The younger brother of the hero who sealed a demon within himself. The gods of fringe planets who had died protecting their worlds.

There were even righteous Saiyans who had stood against their own kind, and the "God" who had been their hope.

"Oh, you've gotta be kidding me, Goddess," Goku said, his face twitching.

It was a standard tactic to answer numbers with numbers, but this was overkill. Because they were made from Lisette's divine ki, every one of these spirits possessed power that rivaled or exceeded Goku's team.

The "Light Army" swarmed them. The tide of battle didn't just turn; it was as if the seesaw had been slammed into the ground and buried. Goku and the others were swallowed by the golden tide. In seconds, their clothes were shredded, their armor shattered, and they were sent skipping across the ground like broken dolls.

They tumbled toward the ruins of a radio tower. Lisette didn't let up. She waved her hand, dismissing the spirits, and replaced them with a thousand glowing spheres behind her.

She was preparing her Raging Blast. But not just one.

"Ultimate Blast."

A thousand beams of concentrated divine light rained down. Each individual shot carried more power than Lisette's usual maximum. It was a torrential downpour of absolute death. Goku could only laugh. When the gap is this wide, even frustration feels pointless.

The rain of light consumed them, descending toward the Earth. But the impact never came. Just as Goku had suspected, a subspace gate opened beneath them, swallowing the entire attack. The thousand blasts were redirected into the Dead Zone, where they struck a very confused and very unfortunate Garlic Jr., vaporizing him yet again.

「...」

Having erased her opposition, Lisette's gaze drifted across the empty battlefield. She felt a strange sensation on her cheek and reached up to touch it. Her fingers came away wet. She tilted her head, wondering why she was crying.

"Good grief. If you're gonna cry about it, don't throw an attack like that."

A rough, familiar voice cut through the silence. Lisette turned her head.

A man stood there. He had hair exactly like Goku's, held back by a blood-stained red bandana. He wore the black and green battle armor of the Frieza Force. A mask covered his face, but it was cracked and crumbling.

Through the broken mask, a cross-shaped scar was visible on his left cheek. Under his arms, he carried the unconscious forms of Goku and Turles.

「...Who?」

"Who am I? Well... they call me a Time Patroller. Some guy you know used the Dragon Balls to call me out. Apparently, my job is to crack down on people who mess with time. I've had a weird life since Frieza got me, so this was a good a time as any to show up. Right... Trunks?"

Lisette's eyes widened slightly as she looked behind the man.

Standing there was indeed a man named Trunks. But he looked different. He wore a green sweater, and his hair was cut short, unlike the long-haired Trunks currently lying on the ground. He looked slightly older, more seasoned.

"We don't have time for idle chatter—Bardock."

Xeno Trunks was also carrying the wounded: Nappa and his younger self. They tossed the unconscious warriors onto a nearby rooftop and simultaneously transformed into Super Saiyans.

The mask on the man named Bardock shattered completely, revealing a face identical to Goku's—but with a much more savage, battle-hungry grin.

"Sorry, Goddess. But those two are my brat and my student. I can't let you kill 'em that easily."

He bared his teeth in a wolfish smile and tightened his fist.
