Chapter Forty Three: The Crash
There was an uncomfortable silence on their way back home.
Maxx was glancing at Isabelle from time to time, to see her reaction or expression.
Deep inside, Maxx had something to share with Isabelle, but didn't know if this was the right time to tell her and express himself.
But since her home was getting closer and closer, he felt like he was running out of time.
"Not tonight, then," he mumbled and tapped his hand on the wheel.
"Do you have something to tell me?" Isabelle opened one of her eyes.
"No."
"Then why are you driving like it's your first time on the road? You can relax one of your hands, you know?"
Getting looked down by a female, Maxx decided to drive with one hand on the wheel and the other lightly touched the side of the door.
The night turned dark, and quiet real quick, until Isabelle started laughing beside him.
"You think this car can fly?" she asked, her voice slurred. She lifted her head toward the window.
