Chapter Fifty-Three: Things Left Unsaid
Isabelle felt how the frost covered her hands, gripping the phone so tightly that her fingers started to ache from the sharp-stabbing feeling.
"What do you mean Charlotte transferred all her money to Caleb's account?" she asked Benjamin, her voice suddenly turned strict.
"It's exactly what it sounds like," Benjamin replied calmly. "One day before Caleb's death, every cent Charlotte owned was moved into his account. And then Caleb… gave all of it to Reign."
Isabelle blinked. Her mouth hung open for a second before she finally whispered, "I feel so dumb right now…"
She leaned back in bed, pressing the phone to her ear as if that would help her brain catch up.
'Charlotte gave Caleb her money. Caleb gave it to Reign. So does that mean… Reign had nothing to do with stealing from Charlotte?'
Her stomach gurgled like it was hungry.
"Why would Charlotte do that?" she asked quietly. "Why move all her money to Caleb?"
