Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 Speak with strength

Although Wei Yi had seldom attended class, he still knew where his class's training hall was located.

Upon arriving outside the hall, he saw Qian Tonghe instructing students in martial techniques. Unwilling to wait, Wei Yi strode forward and pounded heavily on the door, the thundering echoes reverberating through the hall.

The commotion instantly disrupted the entire training session. Everyone turned toward the door in unison, their practice halted mid-motion.

A female student closest to the entrance ran to open it. When she saw Wei Yi, her mouth fell open in astonishment.

Wei Yi, unbothered, swaggered into the hall without the slightest hesitation.

In an instant, all eyes were on him—some filled with shock, others with disdain, irritation, even pity. A cacophony of reactions played across the faces of his classmates.

Qian Tonghe furrowed his brows, visibly displeased.

"Why are you here, Wei Yi?"

"Did Lu Xing not inform you? You've been expelled from the academy. As of today, you are no longer a student of True Martial Academy. Pack your things and leave immediately."

"Han Xiao Jia, close the door. We won't be entertaining irrelevant outsiders."

Han Xiao Jia stood hesitantly at the door, glancing between Qian Tonghe and Wei Yi, unsure of what to do.

"Still not leaving, Wei Yi? Must I personally throw you out?" Qian Tonghe barked, his expression darkening.

Wei Yi responded with a cold, mocking smile.

Instead of leaving, he stepped forward and fixed Qian Tonghe with a piercing gaze.

"Just answer me one question—was it the academy that expelled me, or you, Qian Tonghe?"

The moment the words fell, a flicker of change crossed Qian Tonghe's face.

The gathered students, too, shifted uncomfortably. The difference between an official academy decision and a personal vendetta was stark and undeniable.

But Qian Tonghe was no fool. He quickly regained composure and sneered, "It was both. The academy agreed with my recommendation."

"You're a cripple—your severed meridians are common knowledge. The academy planned to expel you last year, but spared you out of respect for your father."

"But what use was another year? Trash remains trash. Keeping someone like you only drags down our class's average."

"Every assessment, we fall short of the top three—and every time, it's because of you. If not for that, we'd be earning far more in rewards."

His words immediately sparked a chorus of agreement.

Wei Yi's personal fate meant little to them. But their own interests—their lost rewards—were quite another matter.

Before long, students began shouting in support.

"How dare you show your face, Wei Yi? You've been dragging us down for two years!"

"A man should know his limits. You can't cultivate—you're worthless. Quitting would be the best thing you could do."

"One rotten apple spoils the barrel!"

"Instructor Qian was sparing your dignity, having Lu Xing tell you in private. You should be grateful instead of acting like a mad dog biting the hand that feeds it."

Yet Wei Yi's expression remained calm and unmoved.

Lu Xing and Zhu Ling'er, standing behind him, wanted to speak up in his defense, but he held up a hand to stop them.

Wei Yi took two steps forward, scanning the hostile crowd. Then, with a scoff, he declared,

"If I'm such trash, then come teach me a lesson. Let me see just how strong you so-called elites are."

"Words are meaningless. Strength decides everything."

"Whether I'm trash or not is not for garbage like you to judge."

"Yes, you heard me right. Garbage. Qian Tonghe is garbage, and so are the students he trained."

With that, he launched a scathing verbal assault on the entire class.

The hall erupted in fury. To be insulted so brazenly by someone deemed worthless—face to face—was intolerable.

A tall student surged forward.

"You asked for it, Wei Yi—don't blame me if—"

Bam!

Before he could finish, Wei Yi's fist silenced him. He collapsed instantly.

"Too much talking."

"Next?"

Wei Yi's gaze swept the room.

"This brat needs a beating!"

"He can't cultivate! He's probably just flailing around with some techniques."

"Let's teach him a lesson before he leaves—for daring to call us garbage."

Another five or six students charged him.

But Wei Yi didn't hold back. In a few swift strikes, he knocked them all unconscious—one punch each.

As the system notifications chimed in his mind and cultivation experience surged, Wei Yi couldn't help but smile. "Who's next?"

This time, no one moved.

They weren't fools. Once, maybe. Twice, perhaps. But by the third time, it was clear—Wei Yi was no longer the same.

Instead of advancing, the remaining students took several steps back, casting uncertain glances at each other. No one wanted to step forward.

"Zhang Tianchen," Wei Yi called out. "You were shouting the loudest. Aren't you going to come teach me a lesson?"

Zhang Tianchen opened his mouth. As class monitor, he prided himself on being the best. His ego burned to step forward.

But the memory of his unconscious classmates held him back. He forced a straight face and said,

"We're classmates. I couldn't bear to hurt you."

Everyone rolled their eyes—including Wei Yi.

Cowardice cloaked in virtue.

"Then how about you, Wang Han?"

"Zhao Xuejian?"

"Chen Lufan?"

Wei Yi named the class's most talented fighters.

Only Zhao Xuejian dared step forward—and he, too, was promptly punched into unconsciousness.

The rest simply shook their heads, unwilling to approach.

Wei Yi had, alone, challenged an entire class of over a hundred.

And emerged victorious.

He stood tall before them—while not a single one dared step forward.

Zhu Ling'er and Yang Qingqing, watching from behind, were nearly trembling with excitement. Were it not for the need to maintain decorum, they might've burst into cheers on the spot.

Finally, Wei Yi turned to Qian Tonghe, whose face had darkened to the shade of storm clouds.

"Tell me, Instructor Qian—do you still think I'm trash?"

"Do you still claim I've been dragging down this class?"

"Don't get ahead of yourself, Wei Yi. This is True Martial Academy, not your Wei family estate!" Qian Tonghe spat, voice ice-cold.

Wei Yi sneered.

"I know exactly where I am. If this were the Wei family estate, do you think you'd still be standing?"

"Why don't you come teach me a lesson, Instructor Qian?"

His words sent a deathly hush through the training hall.

Everyone stared in stunned disbelief.

Wei Yi had just challenged Instructor Qian Tonghe.
