Chapter 18 - – Echoes of the Past, Shadows of the Future

Ten Years AgoThe wind was still. The moon hovered high above the old Stormbreak residence as Ray sat alone on the balcony, lost in thought—until a cold shiver swept through the air.

A voice echoed behind him. It wasn't Inavy's.

"Ray Stormbreak…"

Ray turned sharply. His small son stood by the door, but his eyes… weren't his own.

"Who are you?" Ray's voice rose. "And what the hell are you doing inside my son?"

The boy glowed—but it wasn't Inavy's expression.

"Me?" the voice answered, laced with dark amusement. "I am… Chaos."

Ray froze.

"I came to give a warning," the entity continued. "Train the boy. Protect him. Until the right time."

"Time? What time? What are you talking about?"

"The moment the pillar falls," Chaos said cryptically. "I awoke. But you must prepare… My foolish brother has arrived. For him… and for the other boy, Kelvin."

Ray staggered back, stunned.

"A war is coming, Stormbreak. Against Tyrus. He won't stop until everything Yon created is undone. Raise the boy. Prepare the Child of Chaos… before it's too late."

And just like that, the presence vanished, leaving Ray trembling under the stars.

[Present Day – Stormbreak Residence]

Ray was once again on that same balcony, eyes lifted to the sky.

"What the hell are you celebrating again…? I hope you're doing okay, Inavy."

At that moment, the front gate creaked.

"Hey! I'm home!" Inavy called.

Ray turned, smiling faintly.

"Took your time. Has the Guild already overworked you?"

Inavy dropped his bag and stretched.

"A bit. But I missed home… and you."

"Well, looks like you've got something on your mind."

"Actually…" Inavy said, "How about we train like the old days?"

Ray chuckled.

"Old times, huh? Alright. But to be fair… bring Ron too."

From the kitchen, 13-year-old Ron blinked.

"Huh? Why me?!"

"Come on," Inavy grinned. "Trust me—you won't regret it."

Moments later, the yard buzzed with energy.

Inavy lunged at Ray playfully while Ron watched, barely dodging. Mid-fight, Inavy paused and looked at his father.

"Teach me the Thunder Spear."

Ray's expression shifted—surprised.

"That move isn't just flashy—it's heavy. It's divine."

"I want to learn it. Even if it takes time."

Ray nodded. The training began, crackling with lightning. Inavy pushed himself, barely able to mimic the stance—but the form appeared. Terrifying. But real.

[Meanwhile – Valtier Residence]

Kelvin jolted awake, drenched in sweat.

The dream had felt… too real.

A ruined world. Black skies. A monstrous figure on a throne of bones, red eyes glowing—holding the Spear of Destiny.

Before him stood a lone warrior. Bleeding. Barely breathing. Still fighting.

And then the voice returned:

"You are not like them, my son. You… are Ruin."

The air in the room grew heavy—so heavy it cracked the glass of Kelvin's nightstand.

Seconds later, Lorien burst into the room, with Darius just behind.

"His aura… it's overwhelming," Darius gasped. "The same I felt… in the forest."

"I see…" Lorien muttered, placing a hand on Kelvin's shoulder. "Darius, where exactly was that mission?"

"The Shattered Grove. Near the ruins of the old temple."

[Later – The Shattered Grove]

The forest was silent when Lorien and Kelvin arrived—until it wasn't.

The moment Kelvin stepped inside, the darkness stirred.

Twisted beasts of bone and shadow emerged from the mist. Lorien and Kelvin fought side by side—radiant light clashing with abyssal flame.

But as the battle dragged on, the voices returned. Tyrus's will slithered into Kelvin's mind.

"Give in… It's who you are…"

Kelvin groaned, shadows coiling violently around him.

Just before the darkness could consume him fully, Lorien fell to the ground, summoning sacred energy into a radiant seal and grabbed Kelvin.

"You're not like this! Do you hear me?!"

The creatures retreated… for now.

Kelvin gasped for air. Shaken. But alive.

"Why me…?"

"Because the past was never buried," Lorien said grimly. "Nor the blood it left behind."

[Back at the Stormbreak Estate – That Night]

Ray and Lorien met in secret.

"You were fifteen, Lorien. Do you remember that village? You, Diana and Kai… the day you found Kelvin unconscious, clutching that strange pendant?"

What began as a mystery… had become a prophecy.

A prophecy linking Kelvin, Inavy… and a war that predates civilization.

And at the center of it all—A father, cloaked in ruin, waiting for the moment… to reclaim the body of his son.

🕯️ The war for the future begins with a single memory from the past. And not all blood… must be inherited.
