Chapter 171 - Chapter 171

The Kraken made up its mind. It would keep fighting with Char. No matter what the boy did, it wouldn't come out.

Char's gaze fell on the deep sea. His platinum-level night vision penetrated the surface, and he could see the Kraken hiding in its trench. He raised an eyebrow. In his previous life, he had heard of a method of taming an eagle called "hawk training." The hunter and the eagle would work tirelessly, without sleep or food, in a battle of wills, until the eagle could no longer hold on and surrendered first. Then, it could be tamed into an obedient falcon.

Now, he planned to do the same with the Kraken. He had never lacked patience. He would see who could endure longer.

He continued to play the piccolo. The songs he had heard in the countryside in his previous life, mournful and desolate, echoed in the wind, accompanied by Eugene's crying. The sea breeze seemed to grow more and more desolate.

Soon, night fell, and then the sky brightened again. Eugene's voice was hoarse from crying, and Char let him go back and rest. He continued to play the piccolo alone.

In the deep trench, the Kraken listened to the continuous sound of the flute, mixed with a magic to which it was particularly sensitive. It was very irritable. It really didn't expect that Char could play like this for a whole day. Doesn't this little wizard need to rest, drink water, or eat?! it wondered in frustration. Krakens were quite sensitive to sounds. In the past, it had attacked human ships many times simply because their noise was too loud. Now, after a full day of Char's "Great Funeral," the melody was echoing in its mind, making it feel like a tired worker forced to listen to the noise of renovations all day long. It was furious and irritable.

But thinking of Char's difficulty, it still had no intention of rushing out of the sea. It would be patient. It just didn't believe that Char could continue to play after a whole day. It wrapped itself tighter with its tentacles, trying to isolate as much of the sound as possible, and continued its battle of wills.

Another day passed, then two. On the third day, the sound of the flute suddenly stopped. The Kraken couldn't believe it at first, but soon, its heart was filled with joy. Never in its dreams would it have imagined that it would one day feel joy not from eating a dragon or a humpback whale, but from outlasting a little human wizard. The tranquil sea was simply wonderful. Over the past few days, every nerve in its body had been stretched to its limits, and every eye was bloodshot. It had really reached its limit. Fortunately, Char couldn't hold on first.

Its nerves suddenly relaxed, and its tentacles loosened. A wave of drowsiness immediately came over it. It was preparing to take a good nap in its trench. But just as its consciousness was becoming blurred, the mournful sound of the flute, accompanied by bursts of crying, echoed on the sea again. It was like a red-hot steel needle, piercing its nerves. It suddenly began to roll around in pain, staring at Char, who had reappeared on the sea.

A smile appeared on Char's lips. The enemy is tired, and I am disturbed. Strike the enemy when they are most relaxed, often with devastating effects on their morale. It seems that this guerrilla tactic can still work. His eyes were fixed on the Kraken below. He had already spent three full days on this creature, using his most precious time. If it didn't surrender, he couldn't accept it. I need to work harder.

Watching the Kraken writhing in pain, Char took out a few more test tubes. He had briefly stopped playing just to mix these bottles of [Giant Killer]. Gurgle. Gurgle. He threw the test tubes into the sea. When the water pressure reached a certain level, they shattered, and the blood, containing a vigorous vitality, spread, covering the trench where the Kraken was located in a thin blood-red color.

The tempting smell filled the water, and the Kraken subconsciously wanted to inhale it. But the next moment, it remembered. This was how it had suffered a great loss last time. There was something in this blood; it must not be inhaled. But this was only an additional torture. It was already suffering from the noise, and now it had to restrain its instinctive desire for the blood, and be careful not to inhale the diluted seawater. And the key was, Char didn't seem to have any intention of stopping. This torture seemed to last forever.

The Kraken had never suffered such injustice in its life, had never felt such shame. When it thought about how long this would have to go on, it let out a low roar, quickly left the trench, and floated to the surface. Boom. The surface of the sea exploded like thunder, and streams of water splashed out. Its huge body, like a small mountain, hovered above the sea. One after another, bloodshot eyes stared fiercely at Char.

A dull sound shook the air, a raw, archaic accent, but it was indeed human language. The Kraken could actually speak. "Human. What exactly do you want to do?"

Char felt something strange, but on second thought, if the Acromantula and the Quintapeds could speak, it wasn't too strange that the Kraken could as well. It would make communication easier. "I don't want to do anything," he said softly. "I want you to pay for attacking me before."

The Kraken's tentacles slapped the sea surface angrily, creating huge waves. "Someone summoned me last time! And you've caused me harm too! I broke off a lot of tentacles!"

Char sneered. "The one who summoned you is dead. So you're going with him? If you think so, then I can help you."

Anger shot out from the Kraken's eyes. Just as it was about to get angry and let Char know that it was not someone to be trifled with, it saw him cut the aorta directly and squeeze it hard. In an instant, a fountain of blood spurted out, spreading toward it. Char grinned. "Did you feel good about the poison last time? I can follow you forever and make any kind of toxin. Don't worry, my blood has spread to a radius of five miles, so there shouldn't be any problem."

The Kraken seemed to have suffered a heavy blow. The anger in its eyes dissipated, replaced by helplessness. "No? You're a young wizard at Hogwarts, right? Which college are you from? Gryffindor? I'm very familiar with Godric Gryffindor. His original Animagus transformation was a giant squid, so he's a distant relative of mine. Or are you a Slytherin? Salazar Slytherin, I'm familiar with him too. For the sake of the founder of your academy, young man—don't be so naive."

Char grinned. "That's unfortunate. I'm from Hufflepuff house. You don't have much friendship with the founder of our academy, do you?"

The Kraken let out a terrified cry. "Awarded? Damn it! I knew it, if anything is crazy, it must be you! After all these years, does a Hufflepuff lady have to add Kraken sashimi to her magical recipes?! I'm old now, and my meat isn't as tender and smooth as it used to be. Can't you just let me go?!"

It was Char's turn to be stunned. "Ah? What did you say?"

With horror in its eyes, the Kraken told the story of how, when it was still a young Kraken, it had been targeted by Helga Hufflepuff herself, who was not only proficient in Herbology but also particularly keen on food magic. She had tried several times to throw it into the Black Lake and make it into sashimi. If it hadn't decisively offered a few of its tentacles so she could have a taste, and then escaped while she was still intoxicated, it would have become a specialty delicacy in the Hufflepuff kitchen long ago.

Now, a thousand years later, the fear made the Kraken completely lose the courage to fight. "What on earth do you want from me?" it said, with a bit of humility. "As long as you don't use me as a cooking tool, we can talk about anything."

The founder of his own academy was so "notorious." This actually took Char a little by surprise. He asked tentatively, "What if I ask you to help me deal with a powerful wizard at sea at a specific time?"

The Kraken paused. That's it? For someone else, you harassed me for three whole days? "Little wizard, you should have said it earlier!" it complained sadly. "As long as it's not one of the Hogwarts Big Four—oh yes, they must be dead now—then no other wizard can be my opponent."

"Then do you know the mysterious man?" Char asked tentatively.

The Kraken waved its tentacles in confusion. "Who? What mysterious person?"

"The You-Know-Who," Char said seriously. "Also known as the Dark Lord and He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. The most terrifying dark wizard in the wizarding world. Powerful magic, cruel and ruthless. His ideas are extremely outrageous." Especially his eccentric habits.

The Kraken suddenly had an ominous premonition. "What are his quirks?"

Char swallowed. "He's particularly fond of slippery, volatile, slimy creatures. He would skin them and drain their blood, make them into pets, and imprison them on his body as pendants. Have a bite when he's hungry."

The Kraken suddenly shuddered, glanced at its own tentacles, and they began to tremble.

"He will come to the North Sea soon," Char continued. "To find something. What do you think he's looking for?"

The Kraken's eyes widened. "He's coming to see me?! Evil! It's so evil! It's even crazier than the Hufflepuff lady back then! Ms. Hufflepuff is very committed to the principles of sustainable development. This You-Know-Who is so scary. He must not be allowed to live in this world."

"So when the time comes, will you take action?" Char nodded seriously. "I will create a good opportunity for you."

The Kraken's eyes were also full of seriousness, its tentacles swaying. "Take action. We must take action. By helping you deal with You-Know-Who, I'm helping myself."

"Okay," Char said, satisfied. "So we have reached a cooperation?" The Kraken shook its tentacles repeatedly, seeking recognition. "Then, before dealing with the mysterious man, you're still doing me a favor." It looked at him in confusion. Then it heard a request it couldn't quite understand. "Use all your strength. Attack me."

The Kraken had never heard of such a strange request. But Char's explanation moved it for the first time in its life. "To defeat You-Know-Who, I have to seize every opportunity to get stronger."

The Kraken hesitated for a moment. "Alright," it said. "Little wizard, you are such a kind-hearted person. Then don't die. Otherwise, I don't know who will deal with the mysterious man."

Char had landed on a reef. The Kraken's tentacles were raised high, then they whizzed down toward him. He growled, and on his system panel, his Legendary Life and Legendary Power appeared with a blazing light. He raised his hands and held onto the tentacle. But the overwhelming force was like a tidal wave. A cracking sound came from his arm, his skin and flesh exploding, blood flowing, the pale bones vaguely visible. Intense pain spread from his hands, and waves of nausea came from his internal organs. He couldn't help but spit out a mouthful of blood.

But the next moment, he didn't care about the pain. His gaze was fixed on the light of his Legendary Life and Legendary Power. The progress of his two legendary abilities had changed a little bit. Although it was just a glimmer of hope, it was the hope he had been trying to see for several years. He threw everything away and roared at the Kraken, "Shame on you! Shame on you!"

The Kraken's tentacles attacked one after another, blow after blow. Thunder exploded on the sea. Char was in tatters, but with his strong vitality, he recovered quickly, only to have his skin and flesh torn apart again by repeated collisions. The reefs and seawater under his feet were stained red with blood. But with each blow, on his system panel, the progress of his two legendary abilities improved, bit by bit. Until seven days later.
