Chapter 4 - Merciless

Karnel picked up a mission to a planet very close to Earth. He had no trouble securing it, of course, since with only a power level of 300, no one else was particularly interested. But Karnel had no intention of carrying out the actual mission to purge the planet of its inhabitants.

He couldn't bring himself to indiscriminately destroy intelligent life as other Saiyans did. Taking on the assignment was merely an excuse to leave Planet Vegeta.

Fortunately, the target planet's trajectory would pass near the solar system, giving Karnel the perfect opportunity to divert to Earth.

After 1 year of space travel...

Karnel's spacecraft reached Earth and landed on an uninhabited beach.

"So this is Earth, the planet that will nurture so many legendary Dragon Ball warriors," Karnel mused. "Kakarot should be less than 2 years old now. If I'm not mistaken, he's probably already been adopted by Grandpa Gohan. I should first find Master Roshi and learn his signature technique."

After concealing his spacecraft, Karnel stretched his limbs, relieved to be free of the cramped pod.

Meanwhile, on a small island in the middle of the ocean, Master Roshi looked up from his magazine and gazed toward the horizon.

"Such powerful energy... a visitor from beyond the sky," the Turtle Hermit muttered, setting aside his adult magazine.

Master Roshi, currently the most powerful martial artist on Earth and world-famous collector of adult magazines. According to rumors, in his more than 100 years living on his isolated island, his collection had broken world records dozens of times over.

At Kami's Lookout high above the Earth, Mr. Popo turned to Kami with a worried expression.

"It's... a powerful Ki. Kami..."

"This Ki from space doesn't feel evil, but it's not entirely benevolent either. I don't know what purpose brings this visitor to Earth. I hope they come in peace, or I may have to fight with all my strength to protect this world," Kami said, staring in Karnel's direction.

"Mr. Popo, keep close watch on the owner of this energy. See what their intentions are on Earth."

"Yes, Kami."

Karnel, of course, had no idea that the small amount of power he had inadvertently revealed was already being regarded as a potential threat by Earth's greatest martial artists.

In battle, having significantly higher power levels typically meant crushing opponents with lower levels. However, when power levels were similar, victory depended on combat experience, timing, and skill in using energy techniques.

But even the 300 power level Karnel was currently showing was far beyond what any Earth martial artist could match. That power level alone was enough to overwhelm every fighter on the planet without any special techniques.

Not to mention that Karnel was concealing his true power level of 480,000. If he were to unleash his full strength, even Kami and Master Roshi would tremble in fear.

"This must be West City. It's quite impressive," Karnel thought, walking down a busy street filled with various anthropomorphic creatures. "So many different animal-people living together." He couldn't help but marvel at the strangeness of this world.

"Help! Someone's robbing the bank!"

Suddenly, gunfire erupted from a bank ahead, and more than a dozen terrified citizens fled through the entrance.

A young woman in fashionable clothes unfortunately fell to the ground amid the panicking crowd. Behind her, a dog-headed criminal in a bandit outfit leveled a light machine gun at her, his eyes cruel.

"Running away, huh? Why don't you keep running?"

RATATATATATA!!

A burst of gunfire!

The young woman closed her eyes in despair...

"Miss, are you alright?" Somehow, Karnel was suddenly standing in front of her, shielding her from the bullets meant to end her life.

The bullets struck Karnel's body and simply bounced off as if hitting metal, creating tiny sparks but causing him no pain or damage whatsoever.

Seeing the young woman staring at him in shock, unable to respond, Karnel gently moved her to safety.

"Impossible! What kind of monster are you? Die! Die!" the robber screamed, emptying his machine gun at Karnel.

"Are you finished? When you're done shooting, you can go to hell and repent," Karnel said, irritated. He had better things to do than deal with a crazed robber, and there were still hostages inside waiting to be rescued.

While Karnel wasn't a hero by nature, if he could help others with minimal effort, why not?

In an instant, he appeared before the robber, grabbed the dog-headed criminal by the throat, and crushed his windpipe before continuing into the bank without a backward glance.

"Boss! Bad news! Brad's been killed!" one of the robbers holding the hostages shouted when he saw his companion fall.

"Kill the intruder! Hurry up and collect the money! We need to leave immediately!"

Karnel entered the bank and quickly assessed the situation. More than a dozen hostages were huddled in the middle of the floor, guarded by four armed robbers. Several bodies lay on the ground, clearly dead, pools of blood spreading beneath them. Three more robbers were busy stuffing money into bags at the counter.

"Such brutal criminals. Unforgivable." Anger flashed in Karnel's eyes as he looked at the dead hostages.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

"Haha, aren't you afraid to die?" The four guards opened fire, laughing wildly. Karnel's form seemed to blur, becoming transparent before dissolving into thin air.

In less than a second, Karnel delivered a single punch to each of the four robbers. Their laughter cut short as they collapsed to the ground.

"You monster! Where did you come from?! Stay back or I'll kill this hostage!" The terrified leader grabbed a middle-aged man in a white coat, pressing a gun against the man's head while yelling at Karnel.

Behind them, the remaining two robbers accelerated their efforts, continuing to stuff money into bags. Karnel felt disgusted. These criminals truly valued money more than human life.

"Oh? What can you possibly do to me? Go ahead and shoot. You trash with a power level less than 5!" Karnel laughed.

"You bastard! Die! Hahaha!" The robber pulled a grenade from his waistband and prepared to remove the pin.

WHOOSH!

A light blue beam of Ki shot from Karnel's fingertip, instantly piercing the robber's skull.

"You two can join your boss in hell!" Karnel said coldly, firing two more beams that ended the lives of the remaining money-obsessed criminals.
