Chapter 1 - Please sign the contract with me.

[Mr. Wanderer, please stop this meaningless procrastination and sign the contract to complete your mission immediately!]

"Not a chance! Send me back right now!"

Inside the old farmhouse, a young man with pitch-black eyes shouted to himself.

The youth had delicate, sunny features, a white towel wrapped around his head, and a simple longsword hanging from his waist.

His name was Siegfried Kaslana.

Seven days ago, he woke up to find himself in this unfamiliar world, and then...

[Ding! Wanderer Siegfried, welcome to the land of Chilan. I am your administrative historian. You may call me Shannon.]

[Elves, dwarves, beastkin, dragons, demons—within this fantasy world of swords and magic, filled with various races, I will help you survive and grow.]

[Please sign the contract, correct the timeline, and enjoy your otherworldly journey to the fullest.]

Siegfried remembered it clearly. When that thing said "correct the timeline," the voice was so quiet it was almost inaudible—just like the fine print disclaimers in a shady corporate contract.

There's no way he'd fall for that!

"Listen up! I'm not interested in some isekai adventure. Anyone with half a brain would pick a million-dollar asset over risking their life in some fantasy world! Send me back right now—I have a family to feed!"

[Of course. Complete the missions after signing the contract, and I will return you to your reality.]

"f**k!"

Siegfried grit his teeth in frustration.

If it had been a couple of days ago, he could have kept slacking off and played the patience game with Shannon, but not anymore.

"You! Come out here! Hands on your head and don't resist!"

"You over there, get down! Didn't you hear me? I said squat!"

"Hand over all the food supplies now!"

The chaotic noise reached him, and Siegfried peered out through the gap in the door.

A few soldiers wearing round helmets were going door to door with spears in hand, arresting villagers and looting their possessions.

It wouldn't be long before they reached the rundown farmhouse he was hiding in.

No doubt, this village was unfortunately being pillaged.

"D*mn it, send me back now!"

Siegfried's expression turned dark, his voice carrying a chilling edge.

[Are you planning to just sit and watch this village be looted? You've inherited the memories of this world's Siegfried—they're not fake.]

"Seriously? Even systems have learned to emotionally manipulate people nowadays?"

His eyelids twitched at the words, but he couldn't deny the logic. His mind indeed held extra fragments of memory.

These additional memories told him he was an abandoned infant, his black hair and black eyes being his most distinctive features.

In the land of Chilan, such genetic traits were exclusive to the Melan family.

This family had produced many heroes, legendary protectors of humanity since ancient times.

Siegfried had naturally been seen as a future hero, admired and respected by the villagers.

Over the course of twenty years, the village elders treated him as one of their own, nurturing him with care.

The village children looked up to him, obeying his whimsical adventure plans without question.

These memories felt vivid, almost real—both familiar and subtly disorienting.

[There's one thing I'd like to clarify. I wasn't the one who brought you to this world. You did that yourself.]

[The moment your consciousness replaced the original owner of this body, history was already altered.]

[Correcting that history is your duty. Saving this village is your responsibility.]

Siegfried pondered all this, then sighed helplessly."One request. One question."

[Go ahead.]

"Don't interfere with my actions.

And, what's in it for me?"

[Each time you complete a mission, you will receive a powerful and mysterious ability to help you conquer this world.]

"Expected. What else?"

[You will receive a richly functional Wanderer's Handbook that will automatically record your glorious deeds across the multiverse.]

"Not interested. Anything else?"

Shannon, the historian, remained silent. Just as Siegfried was about to set his own terms, a phantom image flashed in his mind.

It was a valiant and elegant female knight with light brown hair.

She wore only a tight white vest on her upper body, accentuating her ample chest and well-toned abs.

At that moment, she was removing the armor from her legs, revealing a steamy jade-like foot clad in white suspender stockings.

Even though it was just an illusion, Siegfried felt an overwhelming surge of feminine pheromones hit him—his eyes glazed over and he was speechless for a while.

[Besides that, you can also...]

"No, no—what was that just now? You're not going to explain?"

[I thought you weren't interested, so I skipped it.]

[She's the leader of the bandits outside. Defeat her, and she might become your companion.]

"Tch..."

[Now then, I'll continue listing your benefits—]

"No need." Siegfried tightened the towel on his head. "I suddenly feel like pretending to be a

hero and saving the world could be kinda fun."

[...]

[Let me confirm—do you agree to sign the contract?]

"Let me confirm too—you won't interfere with my actions, right?"

After three seconds of silence, they spoke in unison:

"Of course!" [Of course.]

The next moment, a brilliant white light burst from Siegfried's body.

[Binding Wanderer's Handbook...] [Binding complete!]

[Your mission has been assigned in the handbook.]

Siegfried felt a sensation in his heart and snapped his fingers.

A black leather-bound book appeared in his hand and automatically opened.

from the first heir, Princess Kriensid.

Her brother, Prince Roderick, mobilized the royal guard to resist, and civil war broke out.

In the chaos, Princess Kriensid fled the capital with her retinue and disappeared.

Afterward, both princes claimed to be searching for the princess under the pretense of protection.

Due to various uncontrollable factors, the civil war—initially expected to end in half a year—has been indefinitely prolonged.

Siegfried closed the handbook. Shannon's voice spoke again.

[Before you depart, I recommend identifying the sword at your waist using the handbook.]

Slightly confused, Siegfried took down the sword and appraised it.

A flash of white light, and a line of text appeared on the blank page.

Siegfried's eyes widened slightly. "So it's that kind of cliché. A bit old-school—but I like it."

He paused, then asked, "How well-known is the Melan family in this world?"

[Renowned in every household. Even crying children are silenced by the name.]

"Figures."

Siegfried wasn't the least bit surprised.

That's what heroes do—break into houses, loot every coin, then have a heartwarming chat with the homeowner.

"Let me go! You big meanie!"

"Get out here, brat!"

The chaos outside was nearly upon them—less than ten steps away from the old farmhouse.

Siegfried quickly skimmed through the handbook's features, then pressed the sword to the book—it turned into white light and vanished into its pages.

"Shannon, anything else you want to say to me?"

[Wanderer, welcome to the land of Chilan, where sword and magic reign.]

[Now go and cause some havoc.]

Siegfried slowly pushed open the wooden door.

"No doubt."
