Chapter 6 - Meeting the Shadows

After the conversation in the small room ended, the bald man slowly left his desk. The lights in the office were dim, casting long shadows on the walls, while he smiled in silence. It was a strange smile, a mix of satisfaction and anticipation, as though he had just directed himself towards an obscure goal that no one else could comprehend.

As he moved towards the door, the screen of his computer flashed with a bright blue light. A woman appeared on the screen, with stern features, but there was something in her eyes that pulsed with darkness. It was Elin Valeris, an official in one of the dark organizations, Black Eye. The same woman who had met Reis in the previous building he had moved to.

She spoke in a sharp, unflustered voice:

"Naer, your results are concerning. The child you've been assigned, Reis, is not just an ordinary case. He's had intense training before, but he carries something different. Part of his bloodline comes from the ruling family. They've been noticing what's been happening to him since his family abandoned him, but we don't know if we can control him as we want. Is he ready for testing?"

Naer, still smiling silently, gestured towards the computer screen and replied:

"He's surpassed all expectations. But we haven't seen anything yet. There's something else, something we didn't expect... and I don't think any of us knows what will happen."

Elin coldly replied:

"We know he's being monitored unofficially. The information we've received suggests that he possesses a power yet to be discovered. His noble bloodline means this child could be useful. I want you to bring him to Black Eye to be part of our grand experiments. Let me see this power for myself, Naer."

Naer smiled and raised an eyebrow, speaking in a sarcastic tone:

"You have no idea how dangerous he is. But that's the goal, isn't it?"

Elin's voice became harsher:

"Yes. So make sure you prepare him well. We'll discuss later how to integrate his experiences into the grand plan."

With those words, the call was cut off, leaving Naer standing in front of his computer screen, still wearing that smile that hid many secrets.

After a moment of deep thought, he left his office and moved toward where Reis was waiting. He knew that the coming days would be pivotal in Reis life, but he was certain that his next test would be far from ordinary.

In Reis Room:

Reis slowly woke up, his body heavy as though it had been filled with iron, and every movement required extraordinary effort.

Though his eyes were closing and his heartbeat raced in an attempt to wake up, his mind drifted further into another world, a world that seemed to pull him farther away.

But something felt different, as if someone else had taken his place in this cold room. An inexplicable feeling circled around him.

A strange sensation, as though ghosts were swirling in his head, and the air itself had changed. Distant sounds blended with his inner voice, screaming, yet he couldn't escape.

Then, as though he felt something freeze in his heart, he realized that nothing around him was as it once had been.

He felt... something darker.

Suddenly, from afar, he noticed his vision distorting. The room's lights flickered and disappeared, as though turning to ash, while words froze on his lips as though trapped. He wanted to scream, to shout... but he couldn't.

The feeling of being lost began to intensify, but at the moment when he thought he would drown in the darkness, his vision shifted again.

There was an image, an unclear image, but he could feel it. Something... it was alive. A pulse emanating from the depths of the past, as though time itself had pierced the vessel of his memory.

Then he heard a voice... no, whispers, distant whispers from his body, but they entered his mind directly. Words he didn't understand, but they weighed heavily on him.

Suddenly, the room fell into complete darkness, as his eyes finally settled on those whispers.

And his mind slid into nothingness, drowned in that endless chaos, but he felt as though something new was being born.

But he didn't know what it would be.

In Another Room, in the Same Building:

Naer walked toward the door where others were waiting for him. Suddenly, he stopped. He sensed something unnatural in the air, as though things were beginning to take a different turn.

At that moment, one of the individuals entered the room, holding a small device resembling a phone, and began to observe the data displayed on the screen.

"Everything is ready, sir. The child is in a state of suspended animation, as if he suddenly fell into a coma. The analysis shows a disturbance in his brainwaves. Do you wish to proceed?"

Naer replied in a low, firm voice:

"Yes. We will proceed, but I don't want any mistakes this time."

And so, they left the room slowly, waiting for what would happen next, while Reis, in his coma, had his world turned upside down.
