The morning sun had risen over Capsule Corp, but there was a palpable tension in the air. The Z-Fighters gathered outside, exchanging uncertain glances. Their lives were about to take a turn into the unknown, and not all of them were sure what they had signed up for. Some were eager, others cautious. But all were filled with anticipation as they looked toward the strange being that had appeared out of nowhere—the angel Whis.
Kai stood with his arms crossed, a faint smirk on his face as he watched his friends. "You ready for this?" he asked, his voice low. There was something in the air that made him excited, but he wasn't showing it. Not yet.
The group was still processing the news. Goku, always the optimist, grinned ear to ear, his excitement obvious. Vegeta's posture was stiff, arms crossed in that ever-familiar way, his brows furrowed in suspicion. Piccolo's eyes narrowed, studying Whis with a practiced skepticism. Even Krillin looked nervous, though his face was mostly covered with curiosity.
Whis, floating casually in the air with that air of effortless elegance, caught Vegeta's stare. The Saiyan prince didn't recognize him, his eyes narrowed as he tried to make sense of the being before him.
"What… is this thing?" Vegeta asked, voice laced with suspicion.
Whis tilted his head slightly, looking at Vegeta with a mild curiosity but saying nothing at first. He then responded with an amused smile, though it didn't reach his eyes. "Oh, I'm afraid I don't quite know who you are either," Whis said with a chuckle, his voice calm and smooth. "But I'm Whis, and I'm the martial arts master and attendant to the God of Destruction of this universe. I'm here to train you all."
The Z-Fighters exchanged uncertain glances, not sure what to make of this stranger who spoke so casually about something as terrifying as a God of Destruction.
Goku stepped forward, unable to contain his curiosity. "Training us?" he asked with enthusiasm, "How? And what exactly is a God of Destruction?"
Whis let out a soft laugh, shaking his head. "A God of Destruction is just that—a being who maintains balance by destroying planets and civilizations that have grown too far out of balance. It's not as easy as it sounds," he added, his eyes gleaming with something far older than his appearance would suggest. "I'm just here to help with the more… physical part of your training. To make you strong enough to protect this universe from threats you can't even imagine."
Vegeta's eyes twitched at the mention of destruction. "So, what? You want us to become... Destroyers?"
"Not quite," Kai answered, stepping forward, a hand on his chin. "Whis is more like a teacher. He's gonna push you guys beyond your limits. We're training on his planet."
"His planet?" Piccolo asked, raising an eyebrow.
Vegeta scowled, his arms folding even tighter. "I don't need anyone's training. I don't need a teacher."
Kai grinned. "Then let's see if you can keep up, Vegeta. You might be more than you think."
The group stood in silence for a moment. Then, the air shimmered around them as Whis casually raised his staff. Without any fanfare or dramatic display, he simply teleported them. There was no flash or whirlwind, just the strange, effortless way Whis moved them from one location to another. One second, they were standing at Capsule Corp, and the next, they were standing on a completely different world.
The group blinked in surprise as they looked around, taking in the unfamiliar landscape. Whis's planet was like nothing they had ever seen. The sky was filled with swirling purple clouds, and towering mountains in the distance seemed to stretch on forever. Floating platforms dotted the landscape, some supporting large crystalline structures, while others held nothing at all. The gravity here felt heavier than on Earth, though they were able to stand with little effort.
"Welcome to my training grounds," Whis said with a smile, as though it were the most natural thing in the world. "This is where you'll train, and where you'll find your limits... and your breakthroughs."
Kai, already adjusting to the gravity without a problem, smiled. "This is going to be fun."
Piccolo, who was the most composed of the group, surveyed the area with suspicion. "So, what's the first step? You're not going to make us do laps or something, are you?"
Whis chuckled softly. "Oh, there will be some laps. But first, I'll need to see where you all stand."
Goku grinned, stepping forward. "I'm ready to get started!"
Whis raised a finger, then pointed at Goku. "You, Goku, will be first. Show me what you've got."
As the first Z-Fighter stepped up, the others watched with curiosity and anticipation. This was it. The real training was about to begin.
