Not long after, Du Bushi drew in a deep breath, suppressing the fury in his heart. He said to Jiang Shengyu:
"Fine! However, these four matters must not bring any harm to the safety of the Body Sect. Otherwise, no matter what you say, this old man will never agree!"
"Senior, please rest assured!" Jiang Shengyu nodded.
Du Bushi then continued:
"Now you can undo your methods, can you not?"
Jiang Shengyu shook his head with a smile.
"No hurry. One task, one Title Douluo—when each is done, I will undo one."
"You—!" Du Bushi frowned, almost unable to control his temper again.
But Jiang Shengyu went on calmly:
"So, please, Senior, give me a way to contact you. Otherwise, even if I wished to ask for your help, I would have no means of reaching you."
Du Bushi's expression turned ugly. With a flick of his hand, he tossed Jiang Shengyu a jade token.
"There is a wisp of my spiritual sense sealed within this. If you need to find me, simply inject your soul power, and I will sense it."
With that, he swept his sleeve wide, gathering his people, and left the place.
The emerald-green clouds quickly dispersed, once again revealing the blue sky and sunlight.
Jiang Shengyu let out a long exhale and led Huo Yuhao back toward Jing Hongchen and the others.
As soon as he landed, Xiao Hongchen rushed forward impatiently and thumped Jiang Shengyu in the chest with a fist.
"You brat, impressive! You actually managed to threaten a Super Douluo. How did you pull that off?"
Jiang Shengyu chuckled.
"Pure luck."
"…" Xiao Hongchen's lips twitched.
"Say you're fat and you'll start panting, huh?"
Meng Hongchen and the others were also looking at Jiang Shengyu. Her eyes were shining, fixed steadily on him—but the moment she recalled Jiang Qingtong, her beautiful eyes quickly dimmed.
Jing Hongchen let out a breath of relief as he looked at Jiang Shengyu.
"You boy, you nearly scared me to death just now! That was a ninety-eighth-level Super Douluo! You've got guts… Good thing you didn't push him too far."
"Don't worry, senior brother, I know my limits." Jiang Shengyu reassured him.
Not far away, Yan Shaozhe landed and walked toward them, his gaze never leaving Jiang Shengyu. With a smile, he said:
"Shengyu truly lives up to the saying 'heroes emerge young.' You won't mind if I call you Shengyu, will you? After all, I am Qingtong's teacher at Shrek."
Hearing this, Jiang Shengyu turned his head to look at him and politely nodded in greeting.
"Dean Yan, hello! I've heard Qingtong mention you."
Seeing that Jiang Shengyu did not keep him at arm's length, Yan Shaozhe felt he had found the proper measure. He then asked:
"May I be curious as to how you managed that just now?"
Jiang Shengyu replied directly:
"That was my teacher. How could I possibly have the ability to defeat five Title Douluo?"
At those words, Huo Yuhao pressed his lips together. In his mind, Tianmeng Iceworm shouted:
"This guy lies without even blinking! What nerves! Too sly…"
Sly…
But Huo Yuhao did not quite agree with that assessment. In his eyes, Jiang Shengyu was a bold warrior. To face five Title Douluo alone with only a Soul King's cultivation—such a feat could scarcely be found anywhere in the history of the Douluo Continent!
Still, when the enormous ice wall had blocked his view earlier, Huo Yuhao had no idea how Jiang Shengyu had managed to suppress those five Title Douluo—killing one and sealing the other four.
"Teacher came?" Jing Hongchen was surprised at Jiang Shengyu's words.
"Kong Deming came? Then why didn't he appear directly?"
Jiang Shengyu glanced at Jing Hongchen and gave a small nod, though his eyes conveyed another meaning altogether. Their years of camaraderie allowed Jing Hongchen to read Jiang Shengyu's intent immediately.
This kid was bluffing again.
Since Kong Deming had not come, then it meant Jiang Shengyu really had dealt with those five Title Douluo himself?
Truly worthy of being the one he had set his sights on!
Jing Hongchen looked at Jiang Shengyu, nodding slightly in acknowledgment.
Yan Shaozhe, however, continued his inquiry:
"Shengyu's teacher… that would also be Hongchen Hall Master's teacher, wouldn't it? Which senior might that be? Should I perhaps pay my respects?"
At this, Jing Hongchen turned his gaze toward Jiang Shengyu, as if to say: You explain this yourself.
Jiang Shengyu did not falter. He answered smoothly:
"When those five Title Douluo pursued us, they triggered a soul tool I carried. Teacher sensed it, and he took some time to come and deal with them. Now, the elder has already departed."
He spoke as though Kong Deming had dispatched those five Title Douluo as easily as one might step outside to buy groceries.
Hearing this, Yan Shaozhe grew more wary of the mysterious powerhouse hidden behind Mingdetang and the Sun–Moon Empire. He was unsure of Kong Deming's exact strength, but he had seen the condition of those five Title Douluo clearly just now.
Even for himself, defeating those five would not have been so effortless.
While Yan Shaozhe was deep in thought, Jiang Shengyu drew Huo Yuhao to his side and whispered to Jing Hongchen:
"Senior brother, I think Yuhao should remain in Mingdu. With Teacher here, he'll be much safer. The relationship between Shrek Academy and the Body Sect is far from simple—I worry for Yuhao's safety."
These words gave Jing Hongchen pause. Du Bushi's interception still left him shaken. If Huo Yuhao were to head to Shrek Academy only to be targeted by the Body Sect again, it would be disastrous!
Though Jiang Shengyu could now compel Du Bushi to carry out four tasks, who could guarantee that Du Bushi would not strike at Huo Yuhao regardless?
But ultimately, it would have to depend on Yuhao's own choice.
After a moment's deliberation, Jing Hongchen turned to Huo Yuhao.
"Yuhao, what do you think?"
Huo Yuhao glanced at Jing Hongchen and Jiang Shengyu, pondered a while, then said:
"I think I should stay in Mingdu. My main focus is on soul tools, after all. Besides, there are more spiritual-type soul beasts in the Evil Forest, which will be more beneficial for my Spirit Eyes martial soul."
As for his Ice Jade Scorpion martial soul, Tianmeng and the Ice Empress would surely help him find suitable soul rings—this aspect of his cultivation needed no concern.
He had no need to deliberately worry over his martial soul training.
Jing Hongchen nodded. But just then Yan Shaozhe came over and said:
"This young friend isn't going to Shrek Academy? Although our soul tool department is indeed somewhat behind the Sun–Moon Imperial Soul Engineering Academy, our technical path is different. You might still gain much from visiting."
Though Yan Shaozhe did not know Huo Yuhao's exact talent, the fact that he had been chosen as an exchange student already spoke to a considerable level of aptitude. Shrek had always welcomed geniuses.
Yet after hearing Yan Shaozhe's words, Huo Yuhao still shook his head and declined politely.
"Forgive me, Dean Yan. I've decided to remain in Mingdu."
Seeing Huo Yuhao unmoved, Yan Shaozhe could only sigh softly, a hint of regret in his voice.
"That is truly a pity!"
