Chapter 25 - Chapter 23: The Fire That Doesn’t Listen

You can light the world on fire — but don't expect it to burn your way.

Anonymous Video – Trending #1

A man screams on the floor.

His daughter — age 12 — stands off-camera, begging the masked attacker to stop.

They don't.

The man was never accused.

Only listed in a "Hollow Allegiance Tracker" — for liking a Hollow post.

> "He watched. That makes him guilty."

The stream ends with a fatal blow.

The internet doesn't react with celebration this time.

Thousands of comments flood in:

> "This isn't justice."

"You're just murderers now."

"Is Hollow even real anymore?"

Naomi's Apartment – Whiteboard Covered in Names

She's traced the source of the last stream.

All roads lead to one name:

> Marika Tsuda

Age: 17

Class: 3-A

Known copycat leader. Ruthless. No known affiliation with Silas.

Naomi circles her photo.

> "You're the wildfire. He's the matchstick."

She loads her pistol.

Silas's Studio – Empty Chair

Kai's chair is vacant.

His phone disconnected. His room, untouched.

Silas walks to the window.

Watches students fighting riot cops.

Molotovs fly like confetti.

> "He's gone," he murmurs.

He doesn't chase him.

He just smiles.

Underground Safehouse – Kai's New Location

Kai enters the dark. Alone.

He's greeted by a group of masked teens — but these aren't Hollow loyalists.

They call themselves "Ashless."

> "The fire went too far," their leader says.

"We're here to bring balance."

Kai says nothing.

Just sits down.

And writes:

> "Truth Thirteen: Not every scream deserves an echo."

Naomi – Inside Marika's School

She walks through the halls.

Surveillance disabled. Security bought.

She corners a girl in the stairwell.

Marika. Calm. Composed.

No mask. Just steel in her gaze.

> "Detective Naomi," she says, smirking. "How old-fashioned."

> "You executed a teacher on camera. A father. A grandfather."

> "They were guilty."

> "No proof."

> "You still want proof?" Marika leans forward. "This is a war. And in war, we shoot first."

Naomi presses the barrel to Marika's head.

> "You're not part of Hollow."

> "We are Hollow. We're what happens when you don't draw a line."

Naomi hesitates.

Marika spits at her feet.

> "Go ahead. Prove we're wrong."

But Naomi lowers the gun.

> "No. I'm going to make sure you stand trial."

Citywide Response – News Coverage Begins to Shift

Anchor:

> "Today, police detained a Hollow copycat leader accused of murdering three innocent civilians."

"Public support for the Hollow movement is now beginning to fracture."

"Protests have split — some demanding accountability from Hollow itself."

A new sign appears at rallies:

> "WHERE IS THE REAL HOLLOW?"

"CLEAN YOUR HOUSE."

Silas – On a Rooftop

He watches a mural of Sora being torn down.

Half graffiti. Half government order.

He hears the voices shifting.

The chant changes.

> "Justice!"

"Not slaughter!"

"Who decides guilt?"

He tilts his head.

> "They believed too easily," he mutters.

"Now they doubt too loudly."

A voice behind him:

> "Then kill the doubt."

Silas turns.

Kai.

Eyes colder than ever. Holding a flash drive.

> "This has everything on the Ashless."

"They want to end the fire."

Silas takes it.

> "Do we kill them?"

Kai shrugs.

> "Or let them speak. And see who the world chooses."

---

Final Scene

Naomi visits Sora's grave.

It's been vandalized.

Someone scratched:

> "YOU DIED FOR THIS?"

She fixes the stone. Lays a flower.

Then whispers:

> "I don't know who the Hollow is anymore."

---

Final Line:

> In the shadows, Silas records a new message:

"They want the fire controlled. But chaos never obeyed a leash."
