A car pulled up in front of Yohan, and the window rolled down to reveal Helen. She was still in her police uniform, the badge catching a glint of the evening sunlight as she studied him.
"So you actually did call?" she said, her tone unreadable.
Yohan shifted under her gaze, unsure if she was mocking him or testing him.
Helen tapped her fingers lightly on the steering wheel, then leaned closer.
"Well, don't just stand there. Get in."
He opened the passenger door and slid inside, the faint smell of leather and her perfume mixing with the sharp scent of coffee lingering in the air.
