Chapter 18 - Chapter seventeen the Interrogation

They sat Noah on a single chair in the center of the room.

Eleni plopped down beside him on the arm of the chair, arms crossed defiantly.

Matteo cleared his throat. "Noah. Welcome. We have questions."

Noah: "Y-yes, sir."

Enzo: "Favorite pasta shape?"

Noah: "Uh… penne?"

The room collectively exhaled.

Leonardo: "Do you believe in ghosts?"

Noah: "I—I mean, maybe?"

Marco, whispering: "I like him."

Antonio: "Shhh, we're still in Phase One."

Giovanni: "Do you plan on hurting our sister?"

Noah: "Absolutely not. Never."

Francesco typed something rapidly. "He blinked 2.3 seconds slower than baseline. Interesting."

Nico: "If she cried, would you fight someone?"

Noah: "Immediately."

Matteo leaned forward, finally speaking: "And what makes you think you're worthy of dating our only sister?"

Eleni opened her mouth to intervene—but Noah beat her to it.
