The roar shattered the silence.
It was not merely sound, but pressure, heat, and malice, all rippling outward from the core of Subject V. The underground lab pulsed crimson, every wall alive with the chakra's erratic heartbeat. Lights burst into sparks.
Glass canisters cracked and wept black fluid. Even time itself felt warped, each breath thick and slow, as if the air was rebelling.
Kakashi's eyes narrowed.
"Here we go."
Subject V's Chaos Unleashed
The core chamber twisted. Red chakra tendrils, half-liquid, half-light, slithered along walls, crawling into pipes and vents. The stone groaned. Metal screamed. A wave of crushing pressure slammed into the team.
"Chakra… doubling-tripling-!" Crane staggered, nearly crushed by the invisible weight from chakra pressure.
"Kakashi-sama," the second Orochimaru said, unnaturally calm behind his blank mask. "The subject is trying to fuse with the facility. It is no longer contained by flesh. This lab is its body now."
"Wonderful," Kakashi muttered. "Let's amputate."
…
"Mantis, scrolls secured?"
"Seventy percent done. Fifteen more seconds-"
"You have ten. Ghost, find me a clean path to the shaft. Crane, barrier wall. Ox, prepare to punch anything that breathes wrong."
He pivoted to Naruto and Sasuke.
"Stay close. Sasuke, feed me every fluctuation in that chakra. Naruto, you're the wildcard. Trust your gut. Move when I say, not before."
Sasuke's eyes were already spinning, his three-tomoe Sharingan blazing.
"The chakra is unstable, three-second spikes, five-second drops. Next pulse in two-one-!"
Another shockwave slammed outward. The walls split. A crack opened beneath Ghost's feet.
"Got it," Ghost said smoothly, vanishing and reappearing behind Kakashi with barely a flicker of motion. "Mapped two safe paths. One's slower but has less exposure."
"We take that one," Kakashi ordered instantly. "Ox, take point. Clear debris. Ghost, rear. Crane, guard Mantis. Sasuke, flank left. Naruto, with me."
The team moved like a blade through chaos.
Subject V Tries to Stop Them
The lab seemed to resist. Doors that had once slid open now snapped shut like jaws. Vents hissed scalding steam. Red tendrils lashed out, forming mock limbs, some skeletal, others oozing with chakra so thick it sizzled the floor.
"Targeting us through the lab's nervous system," Orochimaru's clone noted. "Kakashi-sama, its chakra is unrefined. It's pure chaos, without identity or restraint."
"Then we hit it where it hurts," Kakashi said. He slid a scroll from his sleeve and slammed it onto the floor.
FRT: Nerve Severance.
A glowing network spread out across the floor and walls, latching onto the chakra veins running through the lab. For a moment, the walls shrieked. The chakra writhed, severed from control.
"Go!"
...
The hallway collapsed ahead. A support beam, glowing red-hot, snapped and fell toward Mantis. She flinched, hands still clutching the scroll case.
Naruto didn't think, he just moved.
"Wind Style-Random Dash!"
A blast of wind propelled him forward. He tackled Mantis out of the way, letting the beam crash behind them.
"Nice instincts," Kakashi called, not missing a beat. "Now get up and run."
….
Sasuke's eyes scanned the corridor. "Ceiling's unstable. The left wall is hollow, a weak point. It'll collapse in five seconds if we keep going straight!"
"Ox, break through that wall."
The big ANBU grunted and charged. One massive punch shattered the false wall, revealing a maintenance tunnel beyond.
But Subject V was no longer content to manipulate the environment. A form, half-formed, a writhing, centipede-like mass of chakra and bone, descended from the ceiling, blocking the path to the shaft. Its scream didn't come from a mouth. It came from every surface.
"Crane," Kakashi ordered, stepping forward alone, "Shield them."
He faced the creature calmly.
"Subject V," he said. "Your birth is premature. Your hunger is directionless, and your chakra lacks purpose."
He raised his hand. The red, spiked diamond of the Genesis Seal rotated slowly in his palm.
"Let me fix that."
The monstrous shape reared back, tendrils lashing.
Kakashi was faster.
He vanished and reappeared inside the creature's chest, hand pressed flat.
"Formula Reconstruction: Feedback Purge."
A storm of seals exploded outward from his palm, spiraling across Subject V's form. It shuddered violently. Its chakra screamed.
"You tried to control the lab," Kakashi said in a low voice. "but you never learned to control yourself."
The creature convulsed, and imploded in on itself, its chakra being stripped apart and refined mid-air. The red glow died instantly. Silence fell.
"Done." Kakashi lowered his hand.
The team stared in stunned silence.
"Flawless, Kakashi-sama." Even the Orochimaru clone murmured.
…..
With Subject V gone, the lab began its death spiral. Without a chakra core, the facility is destabilized. The support systems failed one after another. Sparks flew. Distant explosions rumbled through the halls.
"Mantis?"
"All scrolls secure!"
"Ghost, vent shaft status?"
"Clear, but crumbling. We have twenty seconds, max."
"Everyone, go!"
They sprinted through the final tunnel as the floor cracked behind them. Crane's last barrier held long enough to keep a blast of heat from incinerating them. Ox hoisted Naruto over a fissure. Sasuke grabbed Mantis before she slipped.
Kakashi brought up the rear, one hand extended behind him, a single seal holding back the collapsing chakra storm for just a few more steps.
They burst into the ventilation shaft and scrambled upward, Ghost leading the way with his eerie silence, Naruto and Sasuke side by side, their faces slick with sweat but eyes burning with resolve.
Behind them, the lab collapsed into itself, sealed in darkness.
Above Ground
They emerged under the dead forest sky. The earth shuddered beneath their feet. A low rumble echoed from deep below. Then, silence.
The trees seemed darker than before. The wind blew ash instead of leaves.
Crane slumped against a tree, panting. Ox sat cross-legged, bleeding from the shoulder. Ghost simply stood still, staring at the blackened ground.
"That was… intense."Naruto dropped to his knees, exhausted but smiling.
Sasuke was silent, watching the forest tremble.
Kakashi stood tall. Not a scratch on him. The Genesis Seal slowly faded on his palm.
"Well done," he said softly. "We completed the mission. And more importantly, you all came back alive."
He turned to Naruto.
"That instinct, saving Mantis without hesitation. That's what being a shinobi is."
"You saw that?" Naruto blinked.
"I see everything," Kakashi said, almost smiling.
Then to Sasuke.
"Your eyes saved us more than once. Don't underestimate their value. You're more than just power, you're a strategist."
Sasuke looked away, but a faint smile pulled at his lips.
"Thank you. All of you." Mantis stood and bowed slightly.
Ghost, still facing away, said, "The forest will bury that lab within the hour. The chakra's gone. But the stain remains."
Crane murmured, "Was that just a failed experiment?"
"No," the second Orochimaru answered, still disturbingly calm. "It was a mirror. One of many. My inferior clone had made many monsters like this when experimenting… but he also sacrificed a lot to create them."
Kakashi looked to Naruto and Sasuke, his students. His family.
"Let's go."
