Chapter 355 - Chapter 356: Diancie

Chapter 356: Diancie

Basalt's mind immediately brought up the image and data of another Pokémon.

Diancie, the Rock/Fairy dual-type Pokémon, a special mutation of Carbink.

Basalt didn't know the exact process by which a Carbink mutated into a Diancie. But he knew that for Diancie to Mega Evolve, it required the help of Xerneas. And if the Horn of Life was used directly, it seemed plausible.

"So Malik stole the Cardia family's Horn of Life and the Carbink to obtain a Diancie?"

The idea flashed through Basalt's mind. And the more he thought about it, the more convinced he was. Malik's dimensional backpack was filled with documents about Carbink. He had clearly researched this method from the ancient texts. If there was no connection, Basalt would never believe it.

"And now, I get all the benefits!"

A smile crept onto Basalt's face as he looked at the rocky cocoon before him. His excitement soared.

Holy crap, it's a Diancie! A stunningly beautiful and incredibly rare Mythical Pokémon. Crucially, Diancie could Mega Evolve, making its strength utterly devastating.

Every Pokémon fan dreams of owning a Legendary, and Basalt was no exception.

However, Basalt knew that a mature Legendary Pokémon had at least Master-level strength. Capturing one was incredibly difficult, requiring more than just superior strength; the Pokémon had to be willing to submit. But turning a Carbink into a Diancie? That was an nurturing project.

"Woohoo! We're going big!" Basalt was beaming. "This is fantastic!"

He might have lost a billion Pokédollars worth of bounty, but the value of Diancie was far greater. This wasn't just not a loss; it was a pure profit!

"With a Legendary in hand, the world is mine! Punching the Unova League, kicking the Japan League—it's just around the corner!" Basalt's thoughts soared.

This ambition cemented his resolve: this secret could never be leaked.

"But how long will it take for the Carbink to mutate into Diancie?" Basalt scratched his head. The timeline was impossible to estimate. Fortunately, Basalt could afford to wait.

He had Bronzong use its telekinesis to lift the grayish-pink cocoon, and they moved out of the cave.

"Pupitar, Quicksand Domain!"

Outside the cave, Basalt first had Pupitar create the Quicksand Domain, then opened Malik's Pokéballs and dumped his fainted Pokémon into the quicksand.

Stoutland and Claydol, who had regained consciousness, were immediately knocked out again by Bronzong. As for Gastrodon and Gigalith, they were still unconscious from the powerful Blast Burn.

Looking at the five fainted Pokémon, Basalt took a deep breath, his eyes hardening. "Numel, Eruption!"

"Dooom~"

The terrifying, high-temperature flames descended. Accompanied by magma that could melt anything, the flames quickly engulfed the five Pokémon. After a few minutes, the Pokémon were gone, and the lava solidified. Basalt had Pupitar cover the area with sand.

Destroying the evidence.

As for the nearby Skarmory, its legs were shaking. It was terrified.

"Don't be afraid. I won't kill you," Basalt said, looking at the trembling Skarmory.

Although killing Skarmory was the easiest way to ensure secrecy, Basalt couldn't bring himself to murder an innocent Pokémon. While he wouldn't show sentimental mercy to guilty Pokémon, he wouldn't abuse his power either.

Destroying the bodies, sealing the cave, and removing the scent. After confirming there were no loose ends, Basalt left the dangerous area.

His gains from this trip to the desert were simply too immense. Now, Basalt just wanted to return to school and focus on training.

Riding Bronzong, Basalt took the most direct route back to the Aridia Region airport. Seeing the stream of people, he finally felt a sense of safety. He bought his ticket and called Adil, Amuyar, and Professor Rowan to bid them farewell before boarding the plane.

At 7 PM, the plane landed in Centralis City. After eight months, Basalt had finally returned to the familiar city.

And thanks to his recent efforts, Basalt, who was only at the Advanced-level when he left, had successfully broken through to the Pro-level. Less than a year, from just starting his Advanced training to reaching the Pro-level. The speed was astonishing. But as someone who cheated fate, Basalt had done it.

Ring, ring!

Just as Basalt was reflecting, his phone rang.

"Hello, Mr. Burton?" It was his class advisor.

Mr. Burton was a man of action. He skipped the pleasantries. "Basalt, you brought honor to our university by defeating Saffron's freshman team last semester, so you're exempt from the final written exams. But you absolutely must take the practical final this semester. It's related to your academic credits and your ranking. You've been in the desert long enough; it's time to come back!"

Mr. Burton had called Basalt almost every month while he was gone, part of it was genuine concern, and part of it was hoping Basalt would return quickly to participate in events and bring glory to the class. Even though Sylvie was strong, she wasn't as aggressively competitive as Basalt.

"Mr. Burton, I'm already back. I just got off the plane!" Basalt scratched his head.

"What? You're back already?" Mr. Burton was overjoyed. "That's great! The final practical exams are in a few days. You need to prepare well and try to take first place!"

"Don't worry, Mr. Burton. Mission complete!" Basalt smiled. With all the advantages he'd gained on this desert trip, if he couldn't take first place in his class, he might as well find a block of tofu and ram his head into it.

Hanging up, Basalt returned to the dorms. After feeding his Pokémon, he took a shower and went to bed.

"Ah, nothing beats a warm bed!" Basalt sighed contentedly. After sleeping in a sleeping bag in the wilderness for so long, he had gotten used to it, but a real bed was incomparable.

After a good night's sleep, Basalt spent the next few days relaxing, watching TV, and playing games. After working so hard, a little downtime was understandable. Work-life balance!

But soon, the practical final exams for Centralis University began.
