Though it was late at night, the arena was brightly lit and buzzing.
The staff had all woken up upon hearing that Master Reigun would Duel both his sons.
Reigun made no effort to hide it—he considered it a public disciplinary display.
"Duel!"

"You'll regret this foolishness! My turn—draw!"
Spirit Eyes activated, and Reigun retrieved his long-unused Deck.
Regardless, the memory of battle surged through him instantly.
After all, for Duelists, card instincts were in their DNA. Like a knight never forgets which way to point his blade.
"I Set 1 card. Turn end."
In a 1v2 Duel, Reigun simply Set one card and ended his turn.
"That's it? Calling you outdated is a compliment!"
He'd talked big, even taken on both sons alone—and yet opened with a single Set.
Even Miles would've played more cards.
As Reigun ended his turn, Kevin's Spirit Eyes lit up. His turn began.
Their first team Duel—Black Dragon x White Dragon alliance.
"I Summon The Black Stone of Legend, then Tribute it to Special Summon—Red-Eyes Black Dragon!"

The black dragon took the field in turn one, roaring and locking onto Reigun's empty field.
"Next, I activate Black Metal Dragon from my hand!"

"I equip Black Metal Dragon to Red-Eyes—evolve, Iron-Plated Red-Eyes!"

Steel armor wrapped around the black dragon—its power now equal to Blue-Eyes White Dragon.
"You've powered up the Red-Eyes, Kevin!"
Kaima saw her brother's growth reflected in the dragon.
"Now for the finisher—Spell Card Back-Up Rider!"

"Catch up to the Ultimate Dragon—Red-Eyes, max power!"

A first-turn 4500 ATK Red-Eyes.
Kevin didn't plan to give Reigun any breathing room.
"No monsters to block—attack directly, Iron Black Dragon! — 'Steel Black Flame Bullet!'"
The 4500 ATK Red-Eyes fired a scorching jet of black fire straight at Reigun.
"Hmph. That's all?"
Facing the lethal flame, Reigun calmly flipped his Set card.
"—Trap Card, Urgent Ritual Art!"
[If you control no Ritual Monsters: Banish 1 Ritual Spell from your hand or GY; this card becomes that spell's Ritual Summon effect.]
"I banish Advanced Ritual Art from my hand to Ritual Summon!"
"Wait—during my turn?!"
Why now, Kevin wondered. If Reigun had a Ritual Spell and Monster, why not just use them on his own turn?

Then he saw the materials.
"From my Deck, I send: Flamvell Guard (1), Yamatano Dragon Scroll (2), Wicked Dragon with the Ersatz Head (3), One-Eyed Shield Dragon (3), Baby Dragon (3)!"
Five Normal Dragons. Total Levels: 12.
"Heaven shudders, earth trembles—behold the strongest dragon's Ritual Summon! Descend—Mythic Dragon!"

Surpassing even Ultimate Blue-Eyes, the five-headed beast crashed into the arena.

This was why he'd waited to summon it during Kevin's turn—
To use its effect immediately and erase Kevin's full-force attack.
