"The trap card is… Human-Wave Tactics!"
The Millennium Eye's dark energy trembled violently—this strategy, beyond what Locke Slint had calculated, struck him with undeniable shock. More than anything, it was Miles's instinctive judgment and faith in his own luck that shook him most.
Had Miles not held out until the last moment, hiding the Continuous Trap as a "hole card" in poker terms, Locke never would have fallen for it. If Locke had known of Human-Wave Tactics, he wouldn't have wasted Raviel's Shimmering Scraper to destroy three Mokey Mokey, giving Miles the chance to draw out what he truly needed.
Three eerie white skeletons crawled up from the ground, blending seamlessly into the hellscape of the Shadow Game.
"But… why Skull Servant?!" Even Locke, with the Millennium Eye, could not discern Miles's reasoning. He could only peer into thoughts regarding actual, existing cards—never the intent behind them. Just as with the Legendary Dragon fusion that had brought out Dark Magician Girl the Dragon Knight, Locke could not read Miles's true plan.
Yet Locke had already ended his turn; even knowing, he could no longer interfere. All he could do now was continue triggering Raviel's effect.
"When a monster is Special Summoned to your Field, Raviel creates a Phantasm Token!" With Human-Wave's three Special Summons, Raviel should have spawned three Tokens—but space was limited. With only one Zone free after Tributing a Token for Shimmering Scraper, only one emerged.
[Phantasm Token DEF: 1000]
The field was full: Raviel and Hamon at 4000 ATK each, plus three Phantasm Tokens at 1000 DEF, fortified by their innate resistances and Fallen Paradise. Against that, all Miles had were three Skull Servants.
To be honest, Skull Servants offered no more power than Mokey Mokey—both Level 1 weaklings with 300 ATK. The only difference was—
Aisha said, "These are the monsters Mr. Miles himself Summoned."
A peculiar significance. Aisha had insisted on keeping them in her Deck, arguing that weak monsters were weak monsters, but at least these were his.
Miles, embarrassed from that Summoning Class where he had boldly promised to summon in Aisha's place, only to end up with Skull Servants, had treated the card as a personal black mark... Still, Aisha had forced them into the Deck. And so, within a light-and-angel deck, three DARK Zombies remained.
"Why Skull Servants now, Mr. Miles? …Could it be that in this hell, a new power lies waiting?"
Indeed, Skull Servants fit the hellish backdrop unnervingly well. But however fitting the appearance, Skull Servants were still just Skull Servants—Normal Monsters with no effects.
"To strike darkness with darkness, Aisha. However weak, Skull Servants carry something different!"
"Different only because you Summoned them yourself, Mr. Miles~"
"Now's not the time for embarrassing memories. My turn—draw!" If that soul-deep cry meant anything, then within this hell lay a true power Miles could wield.
"If hell truly exists, then I'll tear a card straight from it! Spell Card—White Elephant's Gift!"
[White Elephant's Gift — Spell: Send 1 face-up Normal Monster you control to the Graveyard; draw 2 cards.]
A Pot of Greed substitute tailored for Normal Monsters, though cheap and C-rank. It required tributing a weakling, but in a deck overflowing with them, it worked. "I send one Skull Servant from the Field to the Graveyard—draw 2!"
From the Spirit Eyes, Miles drew his destined card—the one to unleash the hidden potential of the remaining two Skull Servants. The card of limitless possibility—Polymerization!
"Spell Card—Polymerization, activate!" He slammed it down, the swirl of Fusion engulfing the two remaining Skull Servants.
"I fuse two Skull Servants, and from this hell of death, call forth a new monster!"
Aisha: "Two Skull Servants as Fusion Materials?" She knew such fodder usually only produced First of the Dragons—and its 2700 ATK would never match two 4000-ATK Sacred Beasts. But Miles, hair fluttering in the Fusion vortex, smiled with confidence.
Ren shouted, "An Evil HERO of ultimate darkness, Fusion Summon—Evil HERO Malicious Bane!"
Kaima declared, "Dark chaos ruling the earth, Ritual Summon—Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon!"
Almost simultaneously, the three duelists summoned their Decks' DARK ace monsters. And Miles's was—
"Roar from the underworld, tear through hell itself! Fusion Summon—Doom Dragon, Dragonecro Nethersoul Dragon!"
