Chapter 321 - DSMW [321]

After her adorable "snuggle combo," Korys Diane's Life Points had fully recovered, and she once again stood with two Level 4 monsters on her field.

"This battle should be the last one. With the Exosisters' transformation born of their bond, I'll go all out for the final strike… huh?"

Just as she prepared to end it all, the Millennium Necklace around her pale neck suddenly pulsed with light, halting her movements.

One of the seven Millennium Items, the Millennium Necklace allowed its bearer to glimpse into the near future.

However, as Korys had explained to Ren earlier, she hadn't mastered the ability to control it. The Necklace only revealed visions occasionally, unprompted, outside of her conscious will.

She couldn't actively observe the future—only passively receive whatever images the Necklace decided to show her.

And just now, as Korys Diane was about to overlay her final Exosisters for an Xyz Summon and launch her ultimate offensive—

She saw a vision.

Her Exosisters, annihilated—all wiped out as their attacks were reflected by a radiant barrier.

The culprit behind the disaster: Miles's classic "trap-heavy" tactic.

Among the three Set cards in his back row, one glowed faintly with the name—[Mirror Force].

"No way… absolutely not!"

Miles blinked. "What's wrong with her all of a sudden?"

Unable to see the future she had witnessed, Miles could only watch as Korys seized up mid-action, muttering to herself in panic.

Albeit now that she had seen that instant of the future, there was no way she could let her Exosisters get wiped out by that Trap Card—by [Mirror Force].

"I'll use this card—to change the future!"

Korys slammed a Continuous Spell into her back row.

"—Continuous Spell activate: [Exosister Carpedivem]!"

The spell activated, glowing faintly on the field, though its effect did not manifest immediately.

"Transformation, once again! Exosister—Xyz Summon!"

With a sweep of her slender arm, her two Level 4 monsters—beautiful exorcist girls—merged through the overlay of light, their bond forming the key to the summoning.

"Level 4 [Exosister Sophia] and Level 4 [Exosister Irene] overlay! Rank 4—Xyz Summon!"

The Exosisters transformed again, Sophia taking the lead while Irene lent her mana, the two manifesting under the night sky with a bow of divine light.

"Pierce through all evil with your purifying arrows—Exosister transformation, shine upon justice! Xyz Summon—[Exosister Asophiel]!"

[Exosister Asophiel] Rank 4│LIGHT│Warrior/Xyz│2100 ATK / 1800 DEF

[2 Level 4 monsters]

Fully transformed, [Exosister Asophiel] floated gracefully above the field, drawing and releasing twin sealing arrows toward both Graveyards.

[If this card is Xyz Summoned using an 'Exosister' monster as material: This turn, neither player can activate card effects in the Graveyard.]

She had sealed both players' Graveyards—the Exosisters' way of "exorcising" evil directly from the dead.

Regardless, the true turnaround—the act that would change the future—came next.

"When an Exosister Xyz Summon is successful, the effect of my Continuous Spell [Exosister Carpedivem] activates!"

[Exosister Carpedivem – Continuous Spell: When you successfully Xyz Summon an 'Exosister' monster, declare 1 card name; until the end of this turn, the effects of cards with that original name are negated.]

Triggered by her Exosister's summoning, Korys declared a card name—an unorthodox move that made both Miles and Ren stare in disbelief.

"The card name I declare is—[Mirror Force]!"

Ren gasped. "Impossible!"

From her perspective, there was no reason for Korys to declare that. After all, the card had only been drawn last turn through [Pot of Greed] and had not yet been revealed.

Miles's eyes narrowed. "So it's the Millennium Necklace… seeing the future."

Given Korys Diane's previous accurate prediction during the theft incident, this perfect call could only have come from the power of the Necklace.

"So, she's seen the future of my trap-heavy strategy."

The declaration took hold. [Exosister Carpedivem]'s effect sealed the chosen name.

Chanting her spell, Asophiel extended countless ribbons of light across the field—each inscribed with the words "[Mirror Force]."

"Now the future where we were wiped out is changed! Next, I'll activate my Xyz effects!"

Both of her Exosister Xyz monsters could act now.

"I detach 1 material—[Exosister Sophia]—from [Exosister Asophiel] to activate her effect!"

[Detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 monster your opponent controls; return that target to the hand.]

"Return your [Elemental HERO Honest Neos] to your hand!—'Purifying Arrow: Heavenbound!'"

Asophiel drew her bow and loosed a shining arrow that sliced through the air, knocking Honest Neos straight back into Miles's hand.

"Next, I detach 1 material—[Exosister Elis]—from [Exosister Gibrine] to activate her effect!"

[Detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; all Xyz Monsters you currently control gain 800 ATK until the end of this turn.]

Gibrine fired her radiant rifle skyward, the explosion scattering light across the field—blessing the Exosisters with newfound strength.

[Exosister Gibrine, ATK: 1400 → 2200]

[Exosister Asophiel, ATK: 2100 → 2900]

The 800-point boost made Asophiel's attack strong enough to wipe out Miles's remaining Life Points.

"Ren, even the most joyful duel must come to an end."

Korys declared her Battle Phase.

"First, [Exosister Gibrine] attacks your face-down monster! And during the attack declaration, the effect of [Exosister Carpedivem] triggers—it can destroy one of your Spells or Traps!"

A volley of light blasted through the field. The flipped card revealed a smiling man in armor, confident as ever—but not this time.

[Elemental HERO Bubbleman – Destroyed]

[Mirror Force – Destroyed]

Along with it, the declared Trap—sealed and powerless—was obliterated.

"Next, [Exosister Asophiel], direct attack!"

Her bow of purification locked onto Miles below, the arrow of radiant light ready to deliver a beautiful, decisive finish.

"It might hurt for a moment, Ren. Though don't worry—I'll heal you afterward!"

"No need!" Miles declared sternly. "Let's make it clear now, Korys—I'm not interested in women like you!"

Of course, he was speaking on Ren's behalf.

His words were harsh, yet for someone as relentlessly forward as Korys, that firmness was necessary. Hesitation would only make her cling harder.

"Eh? Really?" Her dazzling smile finally faltered, her bright eyes trembling slightly in hurt disbelief.

"Ren… did you mean that?"

"Then it seems you didn't see this part of the future, Korys. You must have missed the other outcome—the one where you're wiped out!"

With those words, and one final flourish, Miles raised his hand and flipped his Set card.
