Chapter 2 - Chapter Two: The Echo-Blooded

Location: The Forbidden Wing of the Department of Mysteries

Time: Twenty-seven minutes after Harry touched the Wandbound Symbol

Luna Lovegood pressed her fingertips to the mirror and watched it ripple.

Not a reflection.

Not an illusion.

A memory caught in glass.

She hummed softly under her breath — a thread of sound to calm the spell. On the table beside her, three enchanted silver strands floated in a glass orb, each pulsing to a different rhythm. Harry's name pulsed on the middle thread. The other two were fading fast.

One bore the name "Lyra Straithe."

The other? Blank. Scrubbed.

"They're crossing again," she murmured.

"Crossing what?" came a voice behind her — hesitant, annoyed.

Luna turned calmly. Hermione stood in the doorway, face tight with tension, clutching a scroll that crackled faintly with enchantments.

"You got his message?"

"Yes," Luna said. "And the book he saw… I dreamed about it two weeks ago."

Hermione narrowed her eyes. "You're sure?"

Luna didn't answer with words. She held up her wand — or rather, a carved branch wrapped in old runes. It shimmered faintly.

The Wandbound symbol appeared in midair: a circle of thorns. A broken wand at the center, its core spiraling outward like a star collapsing into itself.

Hermione's face paled.

"That's the glyph from the wall," she whispered. "Harry saw it on the stone. He said something about Hogwarts being… wrong. Moving. And a girl."

Luna stepped toward her.

"She's real," she said. "Her name is Lyra. She's a First Year at Hogwarts now. Muggleborn, officially — but that's not true. I tested the resonance trail in her blood last winter."

Hermione stiffened. "That's illegal."

"So is memory suppression without consent," Luna said, voice dreamy but sharp. "Which the Circle has been doing since at least the 1600s."

Hermione looked away, lips pressed tight. "If what Harry saw was real, and that child is Wandbound… then we have to alert the Concord."

"No," Luna said.

Hermione's eyes snapped back to her.

Luna held up the fading orb. "The Concord will either recruit her or erase her. That's how they've always dealt with anomalies. But this time… she's not alone."

She waved her wand again.

Three names appeared in glowing thread above the orb.

• Lyra Straithe

• Elias Greengrass

• Dara Patil

"All three of them," Luna said, "are linked to what Harry touched. One by blood. One by legacy. One by accident. And when they reach the Wandbound Vault beneath the lake…"

She trailed off, then smiled faintly.

"The world will remember what the Circle erased."

Hermione looked at the threads again. At Harry's fading resonance, still entangled in the center.

Then, quietly, she asked:

"What if they're not ready?"

Luna's reply was almost a whisper.

"Then we teach them before the Circle does."
