Chapter 186 - Chapter 201 Knowledge

"Skull Island? What?"Hearing Clark's words, Tony froze for a moment. The name sounded like a small island, but being called Skull Island didn't exactly give off a friendly vibe.

A moment later, Jarvis pulled up information from the internet and displayed it in front of Tony and Clark.

"Sir, this is a legendary island. However, the legend only exists in the oral tales and sketches passed among sailors who spend most of their lives at sea.

According to legend, it's an island capable of reversing the process of evolution. Anyone lucky—or unlucky—enough to find it will discover that it is perpetually shrouded in mist and storms. So, once you find the island, it basically means your life is at its end. It's known as the Island of Death.

But in reality, no one who claims to have been there has ever proven the island truly exists."

"Oh, that legend sounds absolutely terrifying. What's this about—you found it?" Tony asked, staring at the information Jarvis had just brought up.

"Alert!"

Just as Tony was studying the legend, Jarvis's voice suddenly rang out.

"Sir, we've found classified information about Skull Island in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s internal database."

"Tony, you still have a virus planted in S.H.I.E.L.D.?" Clark asked in surprise. He'd been planning to tell Tony about the island after Jarvis finished gathering information—but he didn't expect Jarvis to have hacked in so quickly. Clark remembered that after the last Avengers incident, Tony had supposedly purged his virus from S.H.I.E.L.D.'s systems.

"No, I didn't. The last time I hacked into S.H.I.E.L.D., I gave myself high-level clearance." Tony opened the file Jarvis found in the S.H.I.E.L.D. database. The fact that S.H.I.E.L.D. had records about this island piqued his interest even more.

He knew that any intel stored in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s database was never trivial. Either Skull Island was extremely dangerous, or its existence was extraordinary in some other way.

When Tony opened the file, he saw a heavily redacted report. Strangely, it wasn't labeled with the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo. Instead, it bore the word "Monarch" and an emblem made of two overlapping triangles.

"Monarch?" Tony frowned. "Isn't that some kind of wildlife preservation group? But wait… that's just a regular organization. Why would their files be in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s system?"

Of course, that wasn't too strange. Organizations like this often hid their true purpose until the right time—just like how Tony hadn't heard of S.H.I.E.L.D. before it revealed itself.

"Jarvis, search for this organization—'Monarch.'" Tony continued reading the file. But there wasn't much left to see; most of the crucial sections were blacked out.

"1973—A satellite detected an island that had never been recorded before. What's strange is that the same coordinates, taken only a week earlier, showed absolutely nothing…"The next day, U.S. authorities organized a resource expedition team to investigate.

"Huh? That's it? Jarvis, anything else?"

Tony frowned. Nearly eighty percent of the document was censored. What was the point of keeping a report like this?

"Sir, our current clearance level only allows access to this one file. Would you like me to hack deeper into their system?"When Tony had obtained his clearance, he'd intentionally avoided giving himself top-tier access to prevent attracting suspicion. After all, very few people inside S.H.I.E.L.D. had high-level authority—it would look suspicious if a new one suddenly appeared. So right now, Tony only had Level 7 clearance, the same as Coulson's.

"Forget it, no need. I'm sure Mr. Kent knows a bit more than what's written here," Tony said, turning to Clark. "So, what's up with this island?"

"There were some problems before, but I've already taken care of them." Clark paused, then continued, "The reason they couldn't find the island wasn't just because of the fog and storms surrounding it. The island itself only appears during a certain period of time.

Only during that window can it be seen. Once that time passes, even the storms and mist around it vanish completely. That's why the island has always remained a myth."

"Okay, that's… pretty mysterious. So what's actually on this island?" Tony asked, his curiosity now fully engaged. The idea of an island that could disappear didn't sound scientifically possible.

"I don't really know what's so special about it," Clark admitted, "but there's a giant ape living there—over a hundred meters tall."

Yes—Clark truly didn't know what secret the island held. The storms and fog could be dispelled by Poseidon's trident, but why had the sea god sealed the island in the first place? Was it just to contain those Skullcrawlers? Clark wasn't sure.

Still, that didn't stop him from taking control of the island—since, at the moment, nothing on it could threaten him anyway.

"One hundred meters? A gorilla?" Tony's expression immediately turned into one of disbelief.

But then he remembered Clark's pet—Godzilla—and the massive monster that had appeared in Las Vegas. Suddenly, Tony felt that the world was changing way too fast.Aliens and giant creatures were showing up one after another… and his sense of crisis was growing stronger by the minute.
