Chapter 186 - Chapter 186: Loki’s Death, Ares on the Run

Odin thought for a moment before speaking.

『Odin』: "Let us set aside the matter of destroying humanity for now."

『Odin』: "But the man on the arena floor—he killed Heimdall."

『Odin』: "He must be eliminated."

After all, Heimdall was also a god of their pantheon.

To have him struck down without cause—it left Odin unsettled.

『Loki』: "A wise choice indeed."

Loki smirked, his eyes glinting with mischief.

『Loki』: "But I must remind you, Uncle."

『Loki』: "That human is the very one who slew Lord Poseidon."

『Loki』: "His power is extraordinary."

『Loki』: "If we're going to deal with him, we'd better send more than one."

『Odin』: "Mm."

Odin nodded, pondering. After a pause, he spoke again:

『Odin』: "Loki, Shiva, Ares—what say you come with me to deal with this human?"

『Loki』: "Gladly."

『Shiva』: "No problem. This human is indeed strong. The four of us together will be safer."

Ares, standing aside, was far less willing.

He hadn't even been able to defeat Adam—let alone Carl, who had slain Poseidon.

But with Odin, Shiva, and Loki all going, he thought: If I go along, I'll just play the part of a bystander.

So, he agreed as well.

『Odin』: "Good. Let's go."

With that, the four gods advanced toward the arena.

Before long, they arrived on the stage.

The noise from the divine audience was deafening.

Odin frowned, his voice booming like thunder:

『Odin』: "Silence!"

The nameless minor gods exchanged nervous glances and promptly fell quiet.

After all, compared to mighty deities like Loki and Ares, they were nothing.

And compared to Odin and Shiva—gods standing at the very pinnacle—how could they dare defy them?

At Odin's command, silence instantly reigned.

『Odin』: "In Ragnarok, casualties are inevitable."

『Odin』: "But this human struck at a god after the battle had ended."

『Odin』: "Now—"

『Odin』: "—we shall punish this human on behalf of all the gods!"

His words ignited the crowd.

『Gods』: "Yes! That's how it should be!"

『Gods』: "This human has gone too far!"

『Gods』: "Punish him! Punish him!"

The chants rolled like thunder. Odin nodded, satisfied.

Then, turning toward Carl, he spoke:

『Odin』: "Human. The battle was already over, and yet you dared to lay hands on a god."

『Odin』: "Now, receive the judgment of the gods!"

Carl arched an eyebrow.

『Carl』: "Judgment?"

『Carl』: "From the likes of you?"

『Loki』: "Humans who grow too arrogant never meet a good end!"

With a twisted laugh, Loki shot forward, hurling himself at Carl.

His speed was tremendous—within a heartbeat, he was upon Carl.

But in that instant—

Two blazing scarlet beams flashed.

And in the blink of an eye, Loki's entire body dissolved into nothingness.

『Odin』: "L—Loki…"

Odin stared, dumbstruck. He hadn't been particularly fond of Loki, but he knew well the trickster god's strength.

Even if Loki faced Thor himself, victory was not out of the question.

Yet such a god… had been obliterated in an instant.

『Shiva』: "Is… is this real?!"

Shiva's many arms trembled in disbelief.

Ares, meanwhile, was struck dumb—his mind screaming.

Terror gnawed at him, and deep inside, a single thought rose like bile: Run.

He had already quaked before Adam.

He had come here only because he thought, Four gods against one human? Easy.

But reality proved otherwise.

With just one clash, Loki had been annihilated.

Could the three of them possibly prevail?

Ares thought not.

After all, this was the man who had slain Poseidon.

Regret welled in his chest. I never should have come here. This is suicide.

No. I am a god—noble, exalted. I cannot die here. I must escape.

『Odin』: "So strong…?"

Odin's face darkened as he fixed his gaze on Carl.

He had known Carl was formidable—after all, Carl had defeated Poseidon.

That alone spoke volumes.

But Odin had believed that with himself, Shiva, and two more powerful gods, victory was certain.

He had never imagined Loki would fall in an instant.

The situation had turned dire.

Now, they had no choice but to attack together.

『Odin』: "Shiva, Ares! Attack with me! Kill this human!"

『Shiva』: "Understood!"

Shiva lunged at once, his fists whirling.

Odin followed, striking alongside him.

And Ares—turned tail and ran.

Yes. He ran.

While Odin and Shiva charged Carl, Ares fled at full speed.

To him, this was the perfect chance.

That human was fast—frighteningly so. Even in his earlier bout, Ares hadn't been able to track Carl's movements.

Not only did he feel powerless to fight him—he feared even escape was impossible.

But now, with Odin and Shiva drawing Carl's attention, the opportunity presented itself.

So he ran.

Without shame.

I can't beat him. What else am I supposed to do?

Poseidon was dead. Loki was dead.

And Ares had no intention of joining them.

Odin noticed immediately.

『Odin』: "Ares! Where are you going?!"

Even Shiva, as he closed in on Carl, caught sight of Ares's retreat.

『Shiva』: "That bastard!"

He cursed furiously. How could the king of the gods, Zeus, have such a disgrace for a son?

But Shiva had no time to pursue him—Carl stood before him.

『Shiva』: "Come then, human!"

With a roar, Shiva swung his mighty fists down toward Carl.

But his strike found only empty air.

Carl had vanished.

『Shiva』: "Damn it!"

Shiva's heart sank. He recalled Carl's terrifying speed.

He's behind me!

Shiva spun, ready to defend

But Carl was not there.

『Shiva』: "What…?!"

Where had he gone?

Meanwhile, Carl had already appeared ahead—directly in Ares's path of escape.

Oblivious, Ares sprinted with elation.

I'm a genius!

I seized the chance and escaped! Odin and Shiva? They'll probably end up like Loki.

Just then

Boom!

Ares slammed headlong into something as unyielding as a wall.
