Chapter 248 - Chapter 248: Thanos Falls, New Members Join the Chat Group (End)

"Boy, I don't know who you are."

From the throne, Thanos fixed his gaze on Carl, his deep voice rumbling through the hall. "But you shouldn't raise your hand… in front of me."

Carl smiled faintly. "Oh? Is that so?"

Thanos didn't reply. He simply waved his massive hand. "Attack."

At once, countless alien soldiers roared and charged toward Carl from every direction.

Carl let out a quiet chuckle. "No matter how many small fry you throw at me… they're still small fry."

Then his figure blurred.

In a flash, he moved through the battlefield—one punch, one enemy gone.

Though it sounded simple, the truth was that the massacre took place in the blink of an eye.

To Thanos and Loki, it was as if Carl merely flickered—

—and then the legions surrounding them were gone. Not fallen. Erased.

Loki stared at him in shock. "You… what did you do?"

He had no proof it was Carl's doing, but his gut told him the truth.

After all, Loki had fought Carl—at least briefly. He knew what that kind of power felt like.

Carl gave him a sidelong glance. "What else? I destroyed the enemy."

"Oh, right… there's one more."

With that, he began floating toward Thanos.

Thanos didn't answer. He simply reached for the massive Tyrant Blade beside his throne and stepped forward.

But before he could take another step—

Carl's calm voice echoed.

"You know… I actually think some of your ideals aren't all that bad."

"But since you've chosen to fight…"

"There's nothing more to say."

"Farewell."

Thanos's eyes widened—two searing beams of crimson light filled his vision.

And then—nothing.

Thanos was gone.

Dissolved into pure light, obliterated by Carl's heat vision.

The massive Tyrant Blade clattered to the ground.

Carl raised an eyebrow. "Now that's a fine-looking weapon."

With a thought, he used spatial manipulation, drawing the weapon into his hand.

It was the same double-edged blade from the movies—majestic and fearsome.

"Not bad," he murmured, before slipping it into his personal subspace.

Then, turning around, Carl walked toward Loki.

"..."

Loki tensed instinctively, watching him approach.

Who was this man in strange Midgardian clothes?

Were all Midgardians this strong?

He'd expected Carl to be formidable—after all, he had defeated the Destroyer.

But this?

In mere moments, Carl had annihilated Thanos's entire army… and Thanos himself.

Even the self-proclaimed emperor of the cosmos—silenced instantly.

What kind of being was this man?

Was he going to kill him next?

Should he use an illusion and escape?

Just as Loki began to weave his magic, Carl's voice cut through his thoughts.

"I'd advise you not to try anything foolish."

"I wasn't planning to kill you, but if you do something stupid… that might change."

Carl actually found Loki tolerable.

After all, Loki would later redeem himself.

So there was no reason to kill him.

As for Thanos… Carl hadn't hated him, either.

But since he had already wiped out all of Thanos's soldiers, there was no turning back.

And besides—this would make Earth a little safer for Tony and the others.

"..."

Loki fell silent for a moment before forcing a nervous smile. "Sir, I—"

He didn't get to finish before Carl extended his hand.

"?"

Loki blinked in confusion.

"The scepter," Carl said simply.

"O–Oh! Of course!"

Loki hurriedly presented the Chitauri Scepter with both hands.

Carl accepted it, giving it a quick look.

It was indeed a beautifully crafted weapon. Elegant, dangerous… and glittering faintly with the Mind Stone hidden within.

He knew what it was—but it held no value to him.

He was only taking it to make sure Loki wouldn't use it again to harm others.

"I'm heading back," Carl said casually. "I can give you a lift. Want to go to Midgard or Asgard?"

"Uh…"

Loki blinked, clearly taken aback. He hadn't expected Carl to be this… civil.

Considering Carl's overwhelming power, Loki had no intention of testing his patience.

After a moment of thought, he replied carefully, "If possible… I'd like to stay in Midgard for a while."

Carl nodded. "Fine by me."

"I'll be watching you. Try not to cause trouble—or I'll come find you."

"..."

Loki swallowed. "You have my word."

No sooner had he spoken than the world around him shifted.

Moments ago, he'd been standing on a dark, barren planet.

Now—he was in a sunlit field, surrounded by green grass and curious onlookers.

"This is… Midgard?"

He blinked. "That fast?!"

He remembered Carl's words and shuddered slightly.

Maybe he really should behave for once.

——

Back on Earth, Carl reappeared at his home.

Bored, he opened the chat group interface.

——

[Little Sister with Chūni Syndrome]: Hmm, come to think of it, why hasn't anyone new joined lately?

[Hot-Blooded Spider Girl]: Oh yeah! I hadn't noticed until you mentioned it.

[Commander of the Great Wall Defense Force]: It's fine. Probably just a quiet spell—someone new will show up eventually.

[Princess of a Thousand Hands]: I feel the same.

[King of the Blade's Edge]: I wonder what kind of people will join next.

[Passing Kamen Rider]: Probably strong ones, right?

[Pink-Haired Vessel]: I think so too!

[Shirley]: No way, there are tons of people from normal worlds here too.

[Prince of Britannia]: That's true. Like me.

[Valkyrie of Chosen Heroes]: It should be random. After all, there are plenty of powerful figures in here already.

[God Among Men]: True that.jpg

"So many at once?" Carl muttered in surprise.

It was the first time he'd seen the chat group admit this many newcomers simultaneously.

And many of the names were unfamiliar to him.

He could guess a few—Sword Immortal Li Taibai, Emperor of the Cosmos—but others, like Morning Star or Suiwan, were complete mysteries.

"These usernames are impossible to figure out… unless I had omniscience."

He smirked. "Actually, that doesn't sound like a bad idea."

A few seconds later, Carl acquired a new ability.

He glanced through the member list again—and smiled.

"So that's who they are…"

"Interesting."
