Chapter 480 - 480 “Subspecies”

After a brief moment of shock, Sherwin quickly reacted.

The Dodo previous modifications had all been carried out at the Galley-La Company in Water Seven, and that company hid several CP9 members within it.

Moreover, much of the transformation technology came from Germa, and Judge had once been Vegapunk colleague.

Even though Sherwin had deliberately concealed part of the core technology during the ship construction, by reverse-engineering from the technology he had exchanged with Galley-La and Vegapunk understanding of Germa tech, it would be quite easy for the World Government and Vegapunk to deduce the remaining parts.

After all, their investigation team had already milked quite a lot from Vegapunk, and Sherwin even planned to keep doing so in the future. So he wasn't particularly bothered by the World Government learning the Dodo technology.

Of course, the attitude he needed to show still had to be shown.

"I think I need an explanation."

Sherwin smiled as he looked at Kizaru.

"Oh my~ how scary~ Sherwin-kun," Kizaru raised both hands and explained in his annoying tone.

"But these transforming warship blueprints were obtained through proper channels from Water Seven, you know.

Then the World Government scientists made some slight improvements on top of them.

Take a closer look—there are still quite a few differences compared to your ship."

That was complete bullshit. Who would steal technology and copy it exactly as-is?

Sherwin rolled his eyes speechlessly.

Besides, back then, in order to make the 'Valstrax' look more like Valstrax, they had added plenty of unnecessary exterior designs.

On top of that, the materials used for this warship were clearly not Treasure Tree Adam, so adjustments were obviously required.

As for Kizaru claim of "purchasing through proper channels," Sherwin didn't believe a single word of it.

Iceburg character was trustworthy. Although Sherwin had never explicitly forbidden him from spreading the technology he learned, given his views toward the World Government, it was basically impossible for him to sell the blueprints.

Of course, there was also the possibility that Iceburg had learned techniques from Purah Meow side and then organized a new set of technical blueprints himself.

But…

Looking at the warship before him, which seemed like a Valstrax subspecies, Sherwin was absolutely certain that most of the technology on this ship was taken straight from the Dodo original version.

However, Sherwin hadn't intended to seriously pursue the matter anyway. So he merely snorted coldly and then jumped onto the ship.

"Let me see just how much you've learned from Iceburg."

"Fufufufu… so there something this good hidden in Water Seven? Looks like I'll have to make a trip there myself sometime."

Although Doflamingo truly coveted Sherwin ship—the one that had managed to escape from under Kaido hands—what he said now was more about provoking Sherwin.

"Hmph." Sherwin sneered again, casting a disdainful glance at the Heavenly Yaksha.

"The core of the Dodo is its power system. Do you have someone under you with a Burn-Burn–type Devil Fruit like Klee, or a genius scientist like Vegapunk, who can solve the power problem?"

Doflamingo expression darkened immediately.

Devil Fruit users weren't really the issue. With his influence, finding a substitute wouldn't be too difficult. What truly annoyed the Heavenly Yaksha was the latter half of Sherwin words…

Because Doflamingo had long had his eye on Caesar Clown, the deserter from the scientific forces, hoping to cooperate with him to develop more advanced weapons.

However, before he could make contact, Caesar had already used his connection with "the Loan Shark King" Du Feld to attend Big Mom tea party.

That in itself wasn't a big deal. Scientists weren't limited to a single investor—waiting a bit was fine.

But that wait ended with news of Caesar death. And after carefully investigating everything that had happened at the tea party, Doflamingo discovered that a large part of the reason Caesar had met his end could be blamed on the doll cat who had once blown him up and was now by Sherwin side.

Add to that the Devil Fruits and famous blades Sherwin had extorted from him earlier, as well as Vergo being "unluckily" implicated at the G-5 base…

It was no wonder Doflamingo had wanted to team up with Gecko Moria and Cavendish to go and cause trouble for Sherwin.

In a foul mood, the Heavenly Yaksha let out a few more fake "fufufu" laughs and stopped provoking Sherwin. Instead, he began to look around the ship, clearly genuinely interested in the technology aboard.

However, aside from Doflamingo, the other Seven Warlords showed little interest in the ship beneath their feet.

That was easy enough to understand. Gecko Moria Thriller Bark might lack agility, but it was huge—essentially remodeled from an entire island.

Combined with his shadow army and the corpse of Oars that he had kept hidden all this time, that was the ship best suited to his needs.

As for Boa Hancock, her ship used a hereditary power source—the Yagara Bulls—so she was even less likely to consider changing it.

Jinbe and his Sun Pirates are all fish-men, so they don't really have much demand for ships to begin with.

As for Hawk-Eyes, there even less to say—he can head out to sea on a small skiff without a problem.

In fact, the Heavenly Yaksha himself, who can use Sky Walk, doesn't particularly need a ship either.

But the forces under his command do, and he even planning to turn it into a business once he gets hold of the relevant blueprints and technology.

As for Cavendish, from the very beginning he appeared exceptionally calm. He didn't even show the slightest hint of surprise when the warship burst out of the water…

This further confirmed the speculation that he had once been to Egghead Island and received treatment from Vegapunk.

Speaking of which…

Now that Kuma didn't go into business with Vegapunk, could it be that all the Pacifistas in the future would end up with Cavendish face?

When Sherwin imagined a group of expressionless, handsome robot men firing laser beams, the corner of his mouth couldn't help but twitch slightly.

"Everyone be careful now, we're about to depart~"

As Kizaru voice rang out, everyone on board felt a jolt beneath their feet. Immediately after, the tail section of the "Comet Wyvern Subspecies" blasted out a powerful stream of air…

Sure enough, although the exterior looked similar, the power system was completely different. Who knew whether Vegapunk had redeveloped it from scratch, or if it borrowed Germa jet technology.

Driven by the airflow, the ship beneath Sherwin feet shot forward at once, quickly soaring into the sky.

Emmmm… not as stable as the Dodo, and the speed was just average. Forget Klee Meow "Powder Fire Burst"—it couldn't even compare to the Dodo Wyvern normal cruising speed.

Watching the scenery rapidly retreat around him, Sherwin silently evaluated it in his heart.

Having experienced far greater speeds long ago, there was no way he'd be frightened by this. Not just him—even the other Seven Warlords, relying on their own strength, managed to steady themselves in time without making fools of themselves…

Well, except for a certain deadbeat otaku.

"Damn it! You warned us too late!"

Gecko Moria crawled up from the deck in a rather sorry state, shouting at Kizaru in embarrassment and anger.

Seriously, did this guy really fight Kaido in the past and actually survive?

Even if he'd been beaten to the point of losing his fighting spirit, this drop in strength was way too exaggerated.

It wasn't just Sherwin who thought so. Even Doflamingo, who had originally intended to ally with Moria, silently crossed him off the cooperation list and moved him to the pending list instead.

If it weren't for the rather special abilities of the Shadow-Shadow Fruit, the Heavenly Yaksha would have already been considering finding an opportunity to sell Moria off in exchange for greater benefits.
