Chapter 2 - The Partner

She was exhausted from work, alone, with no one to protect her. But only two hours remained before she could return home and finally rest from the weight of the day, a day that felt like carrying a mountain of burdens on her back, making each step heavier than the last.

‎She had a few important documents to deliver to the ninth floor. to the office of the financial director, whom she had never seen before. This was her first time entering his office. As she stepped inside, the room immediately struck her. It was bright, cheerful, unlike any executive office she had ever seen. It radiated joy and optimism, filling the heart with unexpected energy. The colors, warm and alive, made the space feel less like a workplace and more like a haven.

‎And then her eyes fell on the man sitting behind the desk.

‎She looked at him, nervous and unsure, but in that single glance, it was as if all the burdens on her shoulders melted away. His eyes alone seemed to erase her weariness. His voice, calm and steady, carried a reassuring warmth.

‎He asked

‎"How can I help you?"

‎She could barely speak, but handed him the papers. she whispered "I just need these stamped,"

‎He invited her to sit. There was something gentle and humble about him. In that moment, all the hardships she'd endured flashed before her eyes. She couldn't hold back her tears. One tear slid down her cheek slowly. He noticed.

‎he asked softly. "Why the tears, Sarah?"

‎She wiped the tear quickly and replied with a sad tone, "It's nothing, Mr. Adam."

‎But another tear betrayed her, falling silently. as though her eyes were trying to tell a story her lips could not.

‎Adam put the documents aside. He rose from behind the desk and sat across from her. Looking at her with calm, patient eyes, he sensed there was much she carried within her. things she didn't know how to say.

‎He gently reached out and brushed the tear from her cheek.

‎She looked at him with eyes that were both innocent and sorrowful, like a child who had lost her favorite toy. Something in her green eyes pulled him in. He felt drawn to her, moved by something deeper than words.

‎With a voice full of warmth, tenderness, and a kind of love she had never known before, he asked...

‎She couldn't hold it in any longer. She could hardly believe someone cared truly, cared about how she felt. And so, she told him everything. About how work had worn her down. How she felt unseen. Unheard.

‎Adam listened.

‎He stamped the documents, then looked at her and said gently, "Meet me at the café next door after your shift."

‎She walked out of his office feeling lighter, as if she'd shed years of pain in just one conversation. It was as though she had entered his room as one person and left as someone entirely new.

‎When her workday ended, she hurried to the café with a flutter in her chest. She waited, and he didn't keep her waiting long.

‎He arrived. They sat across from each other in silence, their eyes locked, saying what words couldn't. The moment stretched on five minutes of shared quiet, of something unspoken but deeply felt.

‎Then, suddenly, Adam spoke.

‎"I want to marry you, Sarah."

‎She was stunned. Her face flushed red, words caught in her throat.

‎He continued, "Say yes, and I will be your shield. I will free you from the exhaustion of work. With me, you'll never need to work again."

‎She listened to his words, and she didn't hesitate, not even for a second.

‎.

‎She said yes.

‎.
