I stride down the hallway toward the executive elevator, my heels clicking against the marble floor with military precision. Behind me, I can hear Madison's nervous breathing as she struggles to keep up.
"Ms. Hayes, maybe we should call security first," she whispers.
I don't slow down. "Madison, I've handled worse situations than some delusional delivery driver with access card fantasies."
The elevator doors slide open. I step inside, checking my reflection in the polished steel. Perfect hair. Perfect makeup. Perfect power suit that costs more than most people make in a month.
Madison hesitates at the elevator threshold. "Should I come with you?"
"No. Wait in my office. This won't take long."
The doors close, and I'm alone with my thoughts as we ascend to the top floor.
