...

It took about a month in real-time to learn and master all the skills my various mentors taught me. In that time, I also prepared what I needed to become Batman.

Sakuya gave me her support which was nice, but I'm also curious about her. Is she a parahuman or just a regular maid for my family?

I was currently in my room admiring myself in the mirror. I changed radically from my lean self to something less noticeable and looked like a regular person.

Thanks to my mastery of the Hercules Method I was able to quite literally compact my muscles and while I might look like a regular persona, my enemies will be surprised when I punch their jaw off.

I was currently admiring myself in the mirror before Sakuya called me from downstairs.

"Master Amamiya, please come down it's time for your lunch."

"Alright I'm headed down."

I soon went downstairs and went into the kitchen to eat my lunch for the day. I sat down and Sakuya started serving me my food.

"Master Amamiya, are you ready to head to the Pentex headquarters and meet the person in charge of the R&D Department in Pentex?"

"Yes, I am."

I started eating my large lunch which consisted of rice, fish, pickled vegetables, and meat.

As soon as I finished my lunch I set it on the sink and began walking towards the front door where Sakuya was waiting outside in the luxury car.

I soon got in and she drove me to Pentex Headquarters. It took a bit of time, because of the traffic, but eventually I was at Pentex. I got out of the car and told Sakuya to wait for me here. She nodded in response and so I headed to the building.

I entered the front door and immediately entered the elevator. Once I got to the elevator and after pressing a certain combination of numbers the lights within started flickering and soon it stopped and the elevator started going down.

I looked at the elevator screen which displayed what floor number it was going and the elevator was going down, like deep down.

The elevator soon stopped at floor -52.

Pentex which was run by and managed by supernatural creatures had many secrets, most which I knew during my training.

I exited the elevator and I soon saw a person on a computer typing some stuff up.

On a desk with large files of papers near it, folders, a lamp and other desk essentials was a young woman with long, ash-brown hair, fair skin, and deep purple eyes. She was wearing a black, white, and purple corset-style dress with white frills and keyhole embellishments. She also wears a black choker with a white-frilled jabot, a golden key necklace, and a large black and purple hat decorated with purple flowers.

(Note: That's right it's Madam Herta)

I soon approached her and tapped her shoulder. She turned around and looked at me and smiled as she held out her hand.

"Ah, you must be Ren Amamiya I'm Madam Herta I'm in charge of the R&D Department of Applied Science."

I shook her hand in acknowledgement and smiled at her.

"I heard great things about you. I was hoping if you could tell me more about what you do."

She looked at me for a bit with a curious look before eventually turning back to her computer as she typed some stuff and soon began listing out various things.

"Environmental procedures, defense projects, consumer products, and more. While we typically produce products about a few years ahead of the competition, we mostly keep the best tech to ourselves and every time we release a new product it was something we already built a long time ago."

She looked at me curoiusly as she asked me, "What did they tell you this place was?"

I answered honestly, "They didn't tell me anything."

She soon got up and walked towards a switch and when she flicked it up, the lights turned on and soon the place was revealed to be a storage place. What was stored inside I'm not sure.

She continued speaking, "The board told me exactly what was down here, a place to keep me from causing the board too much trouble." She motioned for me to follow. "Come on."

I began walking next to her and I asked some questions, "You were on the board?"

Madam Herta answered, "When your parents ran things."

"You knew my parents?" I was a bit shocked at the information

"Oh yeah, I helped build and develop most of the things they requested. I even built their underground escape routes under their homes."

"Wait really, there's underground escape routes in under my house?" I was shocked as with my memories I didn't know anything about it, but Sakuya must know as after she's been serving my parents and taking care of me. I will have to ask her.

"Well, we do live in a world where people have superpowers, monsters destroying cities on a schedule, and a bunch more stuff and you're surprised that your parents have escape routes?" Madam Herta looked at me with an amused look.

I sheepishly smiled as I understood that she was right. She soon stopped in front of a case.

"Here we are." She opened the case and it revealed to be a variety of gadgets that I requested.

She began showcasing the gadgets in the case.

"Here's a utility harness made from Dyneema, the strongest fabric in the world so expect to be very reliable. A magnetic grappling gun, and monofilament wire." She showed me each of the gadget and explained in detail what it could do.

"Come on let's go, I'll show you the other things you requested." She soon walked me to the other side and we stopped at a large container and she opened it revealing a bodysuit. She tapped it with her knuckles as she said, "This is called Midnight Carapace Armor for infantry. It's made of a composite of various materials and fabrics to make it light, durable, and flexible. There's reinforced joints-."

I touched the armor and it felt smooth as I asked, "Is it tear resistant?"

"This armor can shatter a knife on impact."

"Bulletproof?"

"Of course! Though, it's a bit painful."

"Why wasn't it put into production?" This suit was pretty good from what I'm hearing and it could save a lot of lives.

Madam Herta answered, "Those penny-pinchers didn't think spending five hundred grand was worth a soldier's life."

She closed the container and looked at me with a curious look, "So, what's your interest in all this Mr. Amamiya?"

I looked at her dead in the eye and with a serious look said, "I want to borrow it, for uh spelunking."

She looked at me with a questioning look, "Spelunking?"

"Yeah, you know cave diving exploring underground passages, that kind of stuff."

She still didn't seem convinced, "You expecting to run into any kind of enemies in these caves."

I took a deep breath, "Look I don't want anyone hearing about what I'm doing-."

Madam Herta interrupted me before I finished speaking and said, "Mr. Amamiya, the way I see it all this stuff is yours anyway."

I smiled at that.

...

As soon as I got home I confirmed with Sakuya that there really was an underground escape route and passage under the manor.

When I asked her why she simply said, "Your parents were not fools, they knew that in this world people who had powers would eventually target them, especially since they're from old money. They had years to prepare and develop advanced technology to protect themselves and always made sure they had a way out."

I understood that and was actually quite proud. Money can truly get you far in life, especially when you have a lot.

I was currently exploring the underground escape routes and while there was a tunnel leading out of here to somewhere safe. There was also a large and empty area that would be the perfect place to set up my Batcave.

I smiled as everything was coming to fruition.
