Rylen was a Knight, technically speaking.
But if anyone asked Kael, he would classify Rylen as a "hazard to public safety."
While most Knights focused on the purity of the blade or the strength of their shield, Rylen's calling wasn't the honorable 1 vs 1 duel. His calling was to make sure that by the time the duel started, his opponent was already on fire, trapped in a net, or blinded by a flashbang.
Rylen was a Utility Knight.
He was obsessed with the idea that equipment and gadgets were the great equalizers. Why swing a sword when you could build a gauntlet that punched through walls? Why learn complex footwork when you could invent boots that exploded to make you jump higher?
Surprisingly, beneath his Golden Retriever energy, Rylen was actually a genius at Artificing. He was brilliant at building things.
The problem was, he was terrible at testing them safely.
This was the primary reason why the last month had been a living hell for Kael.
