Loran's second report arrived before Robert had finished his breakfast. Unlike the earlier notes, which recorded movements around the markets and trading houses, this one contained a rough drawing of the northern road outside Magical City. Four marks had been placed beside an abandoned boundary post, each representing a visit made by the same Iron Wolf cultivator over the previous two days.
Robert placed his cup down and took a closer look at the drawing. The road was not a popular choice for merchants, as it wound around a patch of rough terrain before connecting to an older path leading to the mountains. With quicker routes available to the northern settlements, most travelers did not have much incentive to use it.
The stranger had visited the same section three times without entering any nearby shop or speaking to the people living along the road.
That was enough to make the movement worth investigating.
