Chapter 7 - Chapter Six

Ugh, finally! I woke up to so much noise outside my room! What's going on? And why are they laughing so loudly?! They totally interrupted my sleep, how annoying!"

I couldn't stand it, so I got up and went to the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth. I changed into a simple yellow dress with floral designs.

When I stepped out, I was surprised to see Mom, Dad, my brother, and that shameless scoundrel! Why were they laughing? Don't my brother and that rascal have work today? Wait, what is he doing here again? Ugh.

I was confused when I saw him out of uniform, wearing just a plain gray t-shirt and shorts. So they really don't have work today? For sure, my day is ruined again because my brother is home! Plus, his companion, ugh.

"Yes, many guys court my daughter Melie, but I haven't liked a single one, so I send them home whenever they come here to court her." My father was recounting, why are they talking about me again?

"Ah, is that so? But if I were to court her, would you allow me?" My eyes widened at what he said.

"As if I'd ever say yes to you!" They all turned to me when they realized I was awake.

"Oh, come on, you're just playing hard to get with Rivera," my brother interjected.

That scoundrel just smirked at me when he saw me. Ugh, he's so thick-faced! He should be grateful he's handsome; otherwise, I would've punched him in the face! Grrr, what the heck, Melie, shut up! What are you even saying? You actually find this womanizer handsome?!

"Oh, yes, of course, especially since you're a proper police officer. You can protect us, especially my daughter Melie," my mother replied to him. Are they just going to give me away to that scoundrel?

"Mom! Dad! What is it?! I don't like that man!" I complained to them.

"Oh, what are you talking about, daughter? My decision is final. I'm allowing PMSg Troy Rivera to court you," Dad said. Annoyed, I turned my back on them and went to the kitchen.

"Sorry, bro, my sister's just being dramatic, but I bet she likes you too." I heard my brother say. Ugh, what is this guy talking about? I'm annoyed with his friend, actually. Yes, he's handsome and a police officer, but it's possible for me to like him even though I'm still so annoyed with him! Especially since he stole a kiss on my cheek last night without my permission.

I ignored them and just prepared some milk and paired it with bread. Just as I was drinking it, the scoundrel also came into the kitchen. I felt a bit nervous when I saw him, but my annoyance towards him didn't disappear.

"What are you doing here?" I asked sharply.

"Hi, Miss Grumpy. Did you hear what your father said? He allowed me to court you," he said happily. Oh, really? He thinks I'll agree?

"I'm not deaf! And why are you talking to me? Are we close?" I snapped at him.

"You're so grumpy. I was just going to ask you out today; it's my day off." He put down the bread in his hand and stood up.

"Hold on a minute. Yes, my father agreed, but the question is, will I agree?" I challenged him. Huh, you think you're a big shot just because you're a police officer!

"Let's see then," he said, taking my hand and pulling me out of the kitchen. I was shocked by what he did. "What the—"

"Hey, wait a minute! Where are you taking me?!" I complained to him, trying to pull my hand away from his grip. This scoundrel really loves to pull people around!
