Chapter 20 - 20 A deadly awakening

Do you know the phrase where people say there's no use crying over spilled milk?

Now think of Gengyo as being this boy who knows right from wrong but chooses wrong anyway and as he indulges himself and keeps on defiling himself in his wicked ways, he's like a glass of milk that has spilled and a person who knows that that glass of milk has value happens to stumble upon them and cries out in pain, wishing they could have done something, anything to change what had become of it.

Obviously, the phrase isn't about a person crying over actual spilled milk.

If you literally cry over spilled milk then…I don't know what exactly to tell you.

And Kurai clung onto the hope that maybe, just maybe she wasn't in an unequally yoked (secret) relationship and tried convincing herself that staying with him was fine just because they did a little Bible study now and then and prayed for each other every night.

Each second that passed by, Kurai's love for Gengyo grew stronger and Kurai would stay up late and pretend to be asleep so her father who would most times make sure she and Teruna wasn't up too late, wouldn't catch her being awake and question her about the guy she was up late with.

That was the last thing she wanted when the only voice that soothed her soul when she was up at night was Gengyo.

The two lovebirds continued their usual dirty talk, flirting, reading their Bible, and praying.

But she started hearing this voice in her mind that something was off about Gengyo but she brushed it off, firmly holding onto her belief that once his mother's side of his family knew nothing about her that she would be fine.

However, Kurai's deepest fear came true.

Being stuck with a guy that had the worst intentions in mind.

A tragic day came for Gengyo and he complained to Kurai about how his father fled from Japan to escape a group of gang members and he told her to keep it a secret from everyone, and to not even tell her family and that's when Kurai's deadly awakening started.

Gang…? Why would Gengyo's father need to run from a gang?

"Ugh, I'm so mad right now, my father fled Japan cuz of those stupid gang members!"

"Why…Why would he even need to flee from them? What did he do?" Kurai asked innocently.

"That's not what the issue is! He's still a good father and he had to leave because of them! This is the worst fucking day ever!" Gengyo ranted.

Kurai knew Gengyo was mad but all she could think about was that if she accepted his father for what he had possibly done and stayed with Gengyo, not only was she endangering her life and be forced to remain in a life that was dangerous but it would be far too dangerous for her family too; Teruna was so little, thinking of some gang members killing her with one blow all because of Gengyo petrified her and the look on her parents teary and disappointed faces as gang members pulled the trigger on them and Teruna and at her too, sent her trembling like a leaf.

Gengyo was a walking red flag, he wouldn't admit what his father did for him to reach the point of having to flee Japan, his mother's side of his family literally tried to kill his mother just because they didn't like his mother and not just any regular kind of killing, with the use of witchcraft, something that stripped her away from the holy things Kurai's family centered her around from the day she was born.

If I stay with him, it would hurt my loved ones and that'd be selfish.

So with no hesitation, Kurai said, "I want to break up."

"What…?" Gengyo asked.

"I said I want to break up," Kurai repeated.

"You stupid hoe, after everything we've been through together, and all the nights we've been on call with you saying you love me, now you're leaving me when my dad's left me too?! I'm angry about my father leaving and you chose today of all days?!"

"You were a bad boyfriend."

"Bad boyfriend?! How was I a fucking bad boyfriend, you dumb bitch. Go kill yourself you dumb hoe-"

Kurai hung up the call and blocked Gengyo from every social media platform she added him on and even after all that, tears built up in her eyes and her heart was feeling all sad and droopy, craving to be in Gengyo's presence again as though she was a helpless puppy.

But she pushed away the feelings and said to herself.

No, I have to put me and my family first, it'd be selfish he somehow puts me and my family lives in danger!

Kurai sighehd heavily.

And he was right...we are so lustful with eachother that we're not even taking God seriously anymore!

Immediately, God saw that Kurai chose him over Gengyo and in the blink of an eye, he shattered the love spell that was on Kurai and she noticed how her intense desire to be with Gengyo had disappeared.

But she didn't stop to think about how this intense desire disappeared and if she truly wanted to cut him off completely, one thing for sure was she needed to tell her mother that she no longer wanted to go therapy again, and fast.

She didn't even waste a second and prepared breakfast for her family and when the rest of her family woke up, they all sat around the table to eat the breakfast she had made.

Kurai stood up next to her mother and poked her and Mrs. Tsukikage looked at her to listen to what she had to say.

"Mommm are you enjoying the lovely breakfast I made?" Kurai asked.

"Yes," Mrs. Tsukikage said, eyeing Kurai suspiciously.

"Well that's good and you know I love you right?" Kurai said.

Mrs. Tsukikage just stared at Kurai, she had known all Kurai's little antics and this one was definitely one where she wanted something in return.

"Yes…" Mrs. Tsukikage replied, "And I love you too Kurai."

"Wonderful! So could you do me this small favor and perhaps…not have me go to that therapy session ever again?" Kurai asked.

Mrs. Tsukikage sipped on her green tea and gently rested it on the wooden table and looked back at Kurai.

"Now, why would I ever do that?" her mother asked.

"Because... I asked nicely?" Kurai foolishly smiled.

"I'm not sure why you want to leave the therapy session because your therapist is such a nice woman, it'd break her heart to see you leave so soon," Mrs. Tsukikage said, hoping to change Kurai's mind.

"Nice? I told you before and I'll tell you again, I don't need that stupid therapy," Kurai replied.

"Fine I'll let you have it your way, okay? But I expect this time if you're going through something that you come talk to me and your father and not run away, even though I didn't agree with you for punching a teacher in his nose, I know that you were just looking out for your sister," Mrs. Tsukikage said.

Kurai beamed.

"Wait! No more therapy sessions?!"

"Yes, no more…"

"Thank you so much!"

--

Lenieve glared at Kurai with hatred.

What is with this mortal?

Such resistance, such a nuisance

She's becoming wiser, I have to be quick before this nit wit ruins my image that I wish to maintain!

But why Gengyo...Gengyo.

Gengyo...

He kept thinking about Gengyo for all few minutes then focused on reality, Kurai would no longer be near Gengyo which meant she was safe and God had shattered the love spell.

Why...why must the Almighty be so cruel?!

A little lamb that once strayed from her shepherd yet now runs back to her shepherd's flock, what stupidity!

Don't think that because you are no longer near Gengyo that you are safe, the wicked never sleeps, but so were you.
