Laz left through the exit door on the left side and made his way through the long and glowing corridor, which was lit by ordinary lamps hung on supporting pillars.
He walked slowly, scanning both sides of the corridor with his eyes and noticed the doors that were behind them. Seemingly, it appeared not to be just a corridor but a lodge pathway.
Certain that he had made the right guess and not wanting to go further into the pathway, Laz decided to settle for the room immediately to his right.
Reaching closer, he saw the emblem that was hung on the wall. As soon as his hands landed on the doorknob, the initial lettering of "Room 006" on the emblem changed to "Pending".
'I get it now. To avoid a clash of more than one occupant, the academy had placed the emblem as an indication. It means, if I get into this room, it would have changed to "occupied" or whatever will be showing someone has occupied it.'
Not letting this thought linger long enough, he pushed the door open and found his way into the room.
As he assumed, the "Pending" lettering on the emblem changed to Occupied. This time, it transitioned from showing the room number to choosing the status of the room.
***
The room was a simple room, with the basic commodities needed for a bearer, and put in place orderly.
A soft foam was placed on a high bed carrier at the extreme center of the room, with a drawer by its side. The room could also be termed empty, except for the desk beside the window, which Laz just discerned.
Moving over to the window, he found nothing on the desk and decided to use the opportunity to fold his hands and stare into the faint blue color of the starry sky outside.
His thoughts as he stood, rampaged from what happened from the beginning of the ceremony, till the moment the girl had defended herself with a completely unnecessary reply.
'She can call it a way of getting back at Timo. But the truth is that girls are not always drawn to boys because of their looks.'
Now that he thought about it, he wanted to see his reflection in the mirror, to see how handsome he was and remembered that time was no man's friend.
Although his eyes had already betrayed him with no sign of a mirror in the room, but he didn't bother.
'Why do I let less troubling matters tickle my fancy. I need to understand my system first.'
Loosening his hand from the fold earlier, he returned to the cozy bed and lay with half his body on the bed, and the other half, with his leg tapping on the floor.
Looking up to the ceiling, he summoned the screen. 'Appraisal.'
This time, what he was going to care about was the descriptions, nothing more.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
«↓ Name: Laz Mann ↑»
«↓ Age: 18 ↑»
«↓ Status: Bearer ↑»
«↓ Bloodline: Animagus |
«↓ Origin: The Right and Wrong ↑»
«↓ Talent: Blue ↑»
«↓ Rank: Ascended ↑»
«↓ Rank Core: [37/50] ↑»
«↓ Core Trait: Transformation |
«↓ Ability: Summoning |
«↓ Weakness: Reflection |
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once the screen surfaced, Laz began to tap on the description buttons on the side of each information.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
«↓ Bloodline: Animagus |
« Description: This is a bloodline that grants you the ability to transform into any beast or animal at will. The process might be complex and difficult, but it will allow you to take the physical form and abilities of the chosen animal. »
Laz could only gulp, swallowing the saliva that had formed in his mouth. Then, he tapped on the next one.
«↓ Core Trait: Transformation |
« Description: As your bloodline is tied with taking the physical form of any animal you wish for, your core ability is transformation. However, unlike other straightforward bloodlines, there are four stages before you finally become an Animagus:
> Summoner
> Tamer
> Transfuser
> Animagus
The process of graduating to each stage, just like the other bearers, is also the same for you, only that reaching the last stage might require a longer period of time.
« Dear bearer, don't you worry at all. Even as a Summoner with an Ascended Rank, you will be on the same strength page as Bearers of subsequent ranks. »
Laz read the description for the second time and now understood why his rank core and talent were not tallying.
His bloodline, after all he passed through in the trial world, was able to affect his Talent and Rank, but they couldn't affect the Rank Core. This was simply because the rank core is dependent on the Bearer's Soul core.
Simply, it's just its physical representation.
Nodding his head for this understanding, he moved over to other features.
«↓ Ability: Summoning |
Instead of tapping the Summoning description, he ignored it with the hopes that he already understood its concept and went for that of Qi Manipulation.
« Qi Manipulation — Description: This ability allows you to engage with surrounding energies, and can be used to infuse attacks or weapons that can corrode any magical defenses and disrupt life force. The process of increment and development of your Qi depends solely on your refinement, which can be ascertained by how much cultivation work you put in. »
«↓ Weakness: Reflection |
« Description: You are vulnerable to any power or emotion you project. Anything you summon, tame, transfuse, or shift into can be used against you if mirrored or reflected. »
------------------------------------------------------------------------
'That's good, right? This will add to a perfect justification of whatever action I am going to take henceforth. So, the system cannot call me lazy again.'
He waved a hand, and the screen disappeared. Then, he rose from the bed, and a wonder seeped into his mind.
If his Talent and Rank had only been graduated, does that mean he won't have to face any other graduation until I'm able to reach the required number of cores?
Oh, yeah. Talent doesn't change once they have been awakened. But will his rank just remain an Ascended until he acquires at least 200 cores?
He weakened his body into a momentary helpless state as he couldn't ascertain what the situation would be. And he had no one to ask since anyone would claim not to have any idea about his bloodline.
Then, another screen suddenly appeared before him.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
«↓ Status: Summoner ↑»
«↓ Soul Core: 37/250 ↑»
« Note, a total of 250 soul cores should have been acquired to allow for your advancement in status to take place. »
------------------------------------------------------------------------
'Should I call this a different stat reading, or an additional feature to my stats?'
'Am I the only one this is happening to?'
He remained static, sitting on the edge of the bed for a while before an idea came to his mind.
He stood up and drew the curtains of the window close, and made sure no source of illumination from his room could be detected. Then, he returned to his bed and summoned the sword given to him by the dragon snake.
Once the sword appeared in his hand, as usual glowing with energy, a name appeared and floated above it.
«↓ Nagarion Blade ↑»
"Nagarion?" He murmured. "A good name for a novice in swordsmanship. Now that I think about it, how am I going to meet up with making myself attuned to the usage of swords? I had no private tutor to teach me fighting skills, and here I am."
Even though Laz was a perfect actor when giving out punches and kicking at an effective pace, using a sword was a whole different thing.
If he was going to find someone to teach him among the bearers, well, most of them won't be in good terms with him now, except Mint.
Only if Mint is on good terms with the sword can she try to spare some time for me, right?
But their teleportation into the Land of Testament was the next day, as Lady Hiss had informed them. There was not even a time for practice and body-scratch tutorials.
Laz lay down on the bed and folded his hands above his head.
"What am I going to do?"
