Chapter 1 - Ch 1:Prologue

The year was 1993, November 26, 5:00 PM, California, Los Angeles

The cries of a baby could be heard, wailing and wailing throughout the hospital room. Where the screams of a mother giving birth could be heard.

"Congratulations, Mr and Ms Martinez. It's a baby boy". The nurse exclaimed in excitement and then proceeded to give the baby back to the mother. The father was there crying himself from joy and happiness.

"Oh Juan, what should we name him" the mother said between sniffles and grunts of pain after giving birth.

The man then smiles and says "Rosa, what about we name him after your father. How does Carlos Martinez sound to you.

Rosa then smiles and giggles at Juan with an amused face before repeating the name. "Carlos Martinez, huh". She then looks back at her baby in her arms and giggles to herself. "What a beautiful name".

Meanwhile in the baby's head

(What the hell!!! WHY AM I A BABY!!! One second I was driving home from school and the next thing I know I was in a white hospital room before everything went dark.

17 years later

"Carlito ven aqui. ¡Es hora de cenar"! (Carlos, come here. It's time to eat dinner)

"Coming Ma"

17 years. It's been 17 years since I reincarnated as a baby. My name is Carlos Martinez but my family calls me Carlito. Both my parents are immigrants from Mexico and I love them more than anything in the world. With this new life, I did things that in my old life I never thought I would be able to do. When I was born anew I decided that from that day onwards this would be my new life and to forget my old one entirely. My old life was nothing but a miserable and lonely life that I'm glad I could never visit. After many years I even managed to forget my name from my old life. Throughout my life as Carlos, I did things like play soccer and join the park's soccer team, play basketball with the other kids in the neighborhood, box, kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Judo, Kendo, go to the shooting range with my uncles and cousins in Texas and sometimes in California with my friends' older siblings or cousins, do some parkour and skating with my friends from school. I even had a habit of collecting knives and as a hobby I did throwing knives and knife tricks.

Back in my old life ever since childhood all I ever did was study, study, and study, I never had time to play outside so no neighborhood kids ever hung out with me when I was a kid and in my High school days I always kept to myself. With this new life, I did whatever the hell I wanted and to an extent, my parents approved of it because they saw me as an active child from the very beginning. Though they don't approve of my knife collection and going to the Shooting range. They still let me because it kept me busy and doing anything stupid like drugs or joining a gang like the other kids. Even in this new life I'm still a quiet teen but this time I have friends. Though even my new parents disapprove because of the people I hang out with and the way they dress, look, and talk my parents think that I'm hanging out with cholos and gangbangers. But here in the neighborhood that's just the style I don't really dress like the other kids at all but I usually dress in baggy clothes or all black clothes. The friends I hang out with give my parents a bad impression because my parents know that some of my friends my age already have baby or one on the way and because of this they think it's better for me to be kept busy then to do something stupid.

And speaking of stupid. One of the dumbest things you could do is get a tattoo without telling your parents. . . Which is exactly what I did and boy were they not happy. That same day it was found out that my Grandparents from my dad's side were in immigration custody and were being sent to Atlanta that same day. Both my parents now have papers in the USA and they were working with lawyers to get my dad's parents their papers as well. But somehow they were taken into immigration custody. And with my new tattoo and finally getting a good look at it my parents were not just disappointed they were absolutely livid.

It was a black and gray full sleeve tattooo of a skeleton snake going around my arm with Japanese flowers around it. One of my older friends was a really good tattoo artist and gave a half percent discount for a really big full sleeve tattoo which actually came out awesome in my opinion. But if I'm being honest after thinking about it, I could understand where my parents are coming from. If my kid ever came up to me with a full sleeve tattoo out of nowhere I'd be pissed too. Looking back I guess this new life changed me and because I'm still a teenager making mistakes like this was bound to happen sooner or later

After a couple of days of driving and sleeping in motels and stopping for gas. We finally arrived in Atlanta. That day we decided to sleep in a cheap Motel and find my dads parents and hopefully fight for there papers. When we arrived in Atlanta one of the things that caught my attention was how when I was watching the news there were many incidents of people fighting and biting each other and many people getting sick. The day after it turned out that my grandpa was actually bitten by one of these people and was taken to a hospital. That same day we found out that my grandma was also bitten and died that same day. Unlike my Grandpa, Grandma was bitten in the neck killing her. While Grandpa was bitten in the leg trying to defend grandma but was still bitten in the leg and was then taken to the hospital.

When we got to the hospital it turned out that the name of the Hospital was Harrison Memorial Hospital. Looking back that name sounded very familiar to me and so did the biting. One of the first things that popped out in my head was zombies but this is real life. . .right.

Harrison Memorial Hospital, Recovery Ward South Wing

"Papa estas bien? ¿Cómo se siente? Juan said in a hurry and worry. My dad mom and myself the only people in the room, paused in shock by the state Granpa was in. He looked so weak and sleepy with sweat pouring all over his body. Grandpa grunted and twitched every time he heard a sound but never really opened his eyes.

Despite all the fighting we had during the ride here I was very worried about Grandpa and my dad. Dad looked devastated and looked to be on the verge of tears from Grandpa's situation. Not long after, my mom and I being close to the door heard some noise coming from the hallway. It got so loud that my dad went with us to check it out. What we saw terrified us to the core. Nurses, doctors, and patients alike were all standing against a wall hip to hip being questioned by what looked like soldiers. The next second made us go back in the room in terror. The soldiers shot every person they saw like it was an execution. When we saw that scene we instantly closed the door and looked at each other with our faces pale all over. With the loud noise, Granpa finally opened his eyes and looked at my dad. But when I looked at Grandpa's eyes it gave me nothing more than the chills where the hairs on my neck stood up on end.

My dad seeing Granpa situation, quickly went to Grandpa's side. Grandpa grunted and looked like he was trying to say something but couldn't so he got close to Grandpa's face. Me sensing something wasn't right pulled my dad back because of the pull grandpa grabbed Dad's hand and bit it to the point that when we were trying to pull Dad away from Granpa. Dad lost his middle finger. Dad then screamed in horror. We left the room and seeing how there were people evacuating the hospital we quickly left the hospital as well and went straight to our car parked in the hospitals parking lot. But before we left I managed to take a Colt M4A1 carbine and Beretta 92FS pistol from one of the fallen soldiers in the parking lot.

Seeing the severity of the situation my parents didn't question my actions and just told me to hurry to the car and leave the hospital. After arriving at the motel we were staying at, we got all our things from the car and went straight to our room we were staying in. When we got to our rooms we quickly cleaned my dad's wounds and because of the things that happened we all felt extreme exhaustion. My mom and I grabbed my dad and positioned him so that he would sleep comfortably and hopefully figure out what was going out there outside our motel's door. I then went to my side of the room and slept on my bed while my mom slept with my dad on there bed. Before my parents went to I looked outside the motel's window and then looked at myself in the reflection of the window. I scratched my head in fustration because there was something itching in the back of my head because all of this felt really familiar to me and no matter how much I tried to rack my brain about it, I just couldn't remember. Looking back I just decided to let it go and try to sleep despite the constant groans my dad was making.
