Russell stared at the Desperate Avenger material for what felt like the hundredth time, thumb hovering over the purchase button. After all that hesitation, he finally exhaled and tapped "confirm."
[Your account has consumed 2800 points. Remaining balance: 420 points.]
The notification chimed, crisp and final. A moment later, the photo proof of the material he'd been eyeing for so long arrived in his inbox.
"The last silver-level card," he murmured.
Half a year of grinding, meditation, and near-obsessive training had pushed him right up to the edge of gold. One last breakthrough and he'd be considered a real combat backbone—someone who mattered in any battlefield or city.
And the cards he prepared now would be the trump cards he took to the national competition. Most of his existing cards had already been exposed; their tricks were known. But a brand-new silver-level trump? One based on a legendary anime figure with a ridiculously rich backstory? That was something else entirely.
He was determined to take first place in individual competition. With a gold-level starting card waiting at the finish line, he could snowball faster than anyone else once he advanced.
And yes—he could grind a full set of gold materials through slow accumulation. But he didn't want slow. He wanted overwhelming.
The footage of the material arrived at his manor soon after. Russell laid everything neatly on his desk, picked up a blank card, and sketched a boy with cold, hexagram-shaped pupils.
The system answered at once:
[Please start compiling your story.]
Russell inhaled and let himself fall into the familiar rhythm of narration.
[On an unknown planet, there exist warriors called ninjas.]
[They use ninjutsu—techniques of fire, lightning, shadow, and illusion—to fight.]
[Among these warriors flows a powerful hereditary gift known as Kekkei Genkai.]
[The Sharingan—called the eye of the soul—is one of the strongest of these bloodline powers.]
[The Uchiha clan bears this eye.]
[Uchiha Sasuke was the second son of Uchiha Fugaku, the clan's patriarch.]
[He grew up in warmth—parents who doted on him, a brother he adored.]
Russell kept typing smoothly. He'd done this dozens of times; the mysterious space never punished him for adding more detail. If anything, it rewarded him for being thorough. So he gave it everything.
Sasuke's childhood had been peaceful—too peaceful for the storm coming. He didn't understand the Uchiha clan's strained position within Konoha. His brother, Uchiha Itachi, was a genius, someone Sasuke idolized without thinking.
Perhaps because Itachi had witnessed the Ninja World War at age four, he grew to hate conflict. By eleven he'd already joined the ANBU, distancing himself from the family. That created tension between him and Fugaku, so their father turned his attention to Sasuke instead.
And then came the night everything shattered.
[Sasuke trained late that evening. He returned home to find his parents lying in their own blood.]
[The murderer was his beloved older brother, Uchiha Itachi.]
"You're not even worth killing right now."
"Foolish little brother… if you want to kill me, then hate me."
In that frozen, collapsing moment, Sasuke awakened his one-tomoe Sharingan—born from pure, overwhelming emotion.
When he woke again, the world had changed. The boy who rose was no longer gentle, no longer warm, no longer whole.
He was vengeance incarnate.
[Days passed. The Uchiha dwindled into memory.]
Sasuke excelled at the Ninja Academy—always first, always brilliant—but brilliance wasn't enough to kill Itachi.
Graduation arrived. Team 7 was formed:
Uzumaki Naruto, the "dead last," host of the Nine-Tails
Haruno Sakura, who adored Sasuke with all her heart
And their infamous sensei, Hatake Kakashi, the Copy Ninja
Kakashi's bell-test exposed Sasuke's flaw: he refused teamwork. Naturally, he failed. Slowly, reluctantly, he began accepting Naruto and Sakura under the surface.
After countless D-rank chores, Team 7 finally received a C-rank mission: escorting the old bridge builder Tazuna in the Land of Waves. There, in the battle against Haku, Sasuke's long-slumbering Sharingan woke again—and he and Naruto defeated Haku together.
Russell hesitated briefly. He didn't need to write this arc… but he would probably make Naruto cards someday, so he decided to enrich the bond while he was here.
Returning to Konoha, Team 7 prepared for the Chunin Exams.
Sasuke copied answers with his Sharingan during the written test. The second exam, the Forest of Death, brought his encounter with Orochimaru, one of the Three Legendary Sannin—second only to Itachi in danger.
Sasuke and Naruto fought bravely, but Orochimaru marked Sasuke with the Heaven Curse Seal. Later, unconscious, they were attacked by Sound ninja. Upon waking, Sasuke unleashed the curse seal's power—losing himself in bloodlust—until Sakura steadied him back to sanity.
The seed of power, however, had been planted deep.
The Chunin preliminaries began. Sasuke's first opponent—a Sound ninja—was easily defeated without invoking the curse. Kakashi grew concerned and pulled Sasuke aside for special training. He taught him Raikiri, a lightning technique that Sasuke evolved into his own Chidori.
Sasuke then fought Gaara of the Sand. With Chidori he managed to wound him, but Gaara's Shukaku form knocked him down. Naruto arrived just in time to save him.
Then came the Konoha Crush. A huge event, yet Sasuke—a genin—was only a small player in the chaos.
Soon after, news spread.
Itachi had returned.
He injured Kakashi. He searched for Naruto. Sasuke rushed to confront him. But how could a mere genin face an S-rank rogue? Itachi overwhelmed him, mocked him, humiliated him—breaking him all over again. Jiraiya saved his life in the nick of time.
Healing under Tsunade, Sasuke realized how weak he still was. Naruto's newly learned Rasengan stabbed right into his pride. The "dead last" was catching up.
He remembered the curse seal.
He remembered Orochimaru's offer.
And he made his choice.
He defected from Konoha. Sakura tried to stop him—he knocked her unconscious gently, but firmly. On the road, he was taken by the Sound Four. Naruto chased him to the Valley of the End, where the two clashed beneath the ancient statues of Hashirama and Madara.
Sasuke won—but did not kill Naruto. Deep down, Naruto had become someone he could not sever.
Two years passed. Sasuke trained under Orochimaru, mastering lightning techniques, pushing the curse seal to its peak. Then, when Orochimaru weakened, Sasuke struck first. Orochimaru tried to take Sasuke's body, but Sasuke's power surpassed his imagination. Sasuke shattered him and absorbed what remained.
He then formed his own team:
Suigetsu
Karin
Jugo
He named the team Snake.
On his hunt for Itachi, Sasuke battled Deidara of the Akatsuki, enduring Deidara's self-destruct thanks to Manda, whom he summoned just in time.
Finally—finally—he found Itachi.
They fought at the Uchiha hideout. There Sasuke learned information that shook him: Uchiha Madara still lived, and Mangekyō Sharingan could be evolved into the Eternal form by transplanting a sibling's eyes.
To end the fight, Sasuke unleashed his strongest technique: Kirin—a lightning beast called from the heavens by creating thunderclouds with Fire Style.
Russell laughed softly as he wrote this part. With Lucian's weather manipulation cards, Sasuke could skip the long setup entirely. Instant Kirin. Terrifying.
But Itachi's Susanoo—the half-giant red avatar—blocked Kirin entirely.
Sasuke collapsed, spent. In that moment, Orochimaru's remnants burst out to seize control of Sasuke's body.
Itachi sealed him.
Sasuke, confused and exhausted, watched Itachi approach. He thought death was coming.
Instead… Itachi reached out and tapped his forehead—just as he did when Sasuke was a child.
"Forgive me, Sasuke. This is the last time."
Then Itachi fell.
Sasuke fainted beside him.
When he woke, a masked man calling himself "Madara" (that would later be revealed as Tobi/Obito) had taken him away.
[And Madara told Sasuke the truth.]
Itachi had killed the clan on orders from Konoha's elders. He had spared only Sasuke.
Anger and grief fused inside Sasuke, and the Mangekyō Sharingan awakened:
Right eye: Kagutsuchi
Left eye: Amaterasu
Snake changed its name to Hawk.
And Sasuke set his sights on Shimura Danzo—one of the architects of the Uchiha downfall.
Russell's fingers slowed. Even for him, writing all that in one go was exhausting. But the result was worth it.
He stored the completed card into his mind.
