Su Yang was very well aware of the benefits of evolving to the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan.
But he didn't choose to evolve, not yet.
The reason was simple: if his current Mangekyō Sharingan were rated as "level 1," then his newly enhanced one could be considered "level 2."
So the question arose:
Would a Level 2 Mangekyō evolve into a stronger Eternal Mangekyō than a Level 1?
Or better yet, what if he pushed it to Level 3 first?
The answer seemed obvious.
The stronger the base Mangekyō, the stronger the evolved Eternal version.
Was that a confirmed fact? No, just a theory. A gut instinct.
But for Su Yang, that was enough. After all, if he was wrong, all it would cost him was one simulation attempt to get the Eternal Mangekyō anyway.
No big deal.
As for the side effects of overusing the Mangekyō Sharingan? That was even less of a concern.
All he needed to do was claim it once through a simulation, and his eyes would be fully restored. So what was there to worry about?
If he was right, then he wouldn't just have an Eternal Mangekyō, he'd have the strongest Eternal Mangekyō.
As for simulation points? He already had a plan for that.
But for now…
Time to sleep.
Su Yang slipped under the covers. Before he could make a move, Ai seemed to sense something, and suddenly wrapped herself around him like an octopus.
"Tss… yeah, that hits the spot."
Outside the villa, one of his phantom clones hovered silently in the air like a ghost.
In that state, the moment any enemy approached, Su Yang would be instantly alerted.
Elsewhere...
A man tilted his head slightly and sighed.
"So they failed, huh?"
He wasn't surprised.
"As expected. Jujutsu sorcerers of that caliber could only go so far."
Still, it wasn't a loss. If anything, it confirmed his expectations.
"After all, anyone who can make Gojo Satoru back down… well, there's no way some disposable mercenaries could take him out."
A strange, amused smile crept across the middle-aged man's face.
"You really are twisted, you know," said another voice.
This time, the speaker was a grotesque figure, its head shaped like a volcano, a single eye staring out from its jagged face.
It wasn't human.
It was a special-grade cursed spirit with sentience, Jogo.
"Why not just let me go? Wouldn't that be faster?"
"You?" The man chuckled. "Please, even Gojo Satoru wiped the floor with you. What do you think would happen if you faced someone who Gojo himself chose to avoid?"
Another voice chimed in, this one from a cursed spirit with a far more human appearance.
He looked like a man in his twenties, with medium-length blue hair braided into three strands, one of which hung over his right shoulder. His face and body were eerily stitched together like a patchwork doll.
One yellow eye. One blue.
Mahito.
Another special-grade cursed spirit with intelligence, and a cruel sense of amusement.
"Tch. Gojo this, Gojo that. You're telling me he's some kind of god? I don't buy it."
Jogo clearly wasn't convinced. His tone was fiery, just like his nature.
"Let me go test this Su Yang guy myself. I'll kill him and be back by morning!"
But another special-grade cursed spirit, Hanami, intervened.
"Calm down, Jogo. No one's denying Gojo is strong. And if this Su Yang made even Gojo step back… then he's not someone we can afford to underestimate."
Ha! Hanami was clearly pretending to be cautious while secretly stirring the pot.
He didn't really care about Su Yang's strength. He just wanted Jogo to go and test him, to draw out Su Yang's true power.
Jogo wasn't as strong as Gojo, sure, but he wasn't weak either. If he went up against Su Yang, at the very least, they'd get valuable information.
But unfortunately for them, Jogo sat back down. Though he still looked angry, he wasn't moving.
"Hmph. I still don't believe it. How strong could one guy possibly be? Even if Gojo's powerful, he's not invincible."
As a sentient special-grade cursed spirit, Jogo had a lot of pride in his own strength.
Classic case of overconfidence, right up until you get beat down.
Sure, he acknowledged that Gojo might be stronger. But how much stronger could he really be?
They needed to find other ways to deal with Su Yang.
And anyway, the two mercenary sorcerers had been hired using the account of a Star Religious Group member.
Hopefully, Su Yang would notice that detail.
Not that he needed solid evidence to act.
Su Yang wasn't someone who waited for airtight proof. Just a suspicion was enough for him to move.
And this cursed spirit, Su Yang, was no ordinary threat.
Currently, he still hadn't acquired Suguru Geto's body, so it wasn't the right time to provoke Mahito and the others directly.
So for now, he would stay behind the scenes.
If Su Yang discovered the connection to the Star Religious Group?
Good.
If not, no big deal.
Either way, suspicion alone was reason enough to strike.
That said, Su Yang didn't act on his suspicions right away.
After all, Ai only got one or two days off a month, sometimes only one day every two or three months.
There was no way Su Yang was going to waste that rare time together dealing with outsiders.
He had tried to suggest she take it easier, but,
Ai genuinely loved being an idol. He didn't want to take that from her.
And more importantly, she had once said something he simply couldn't argue with:
"Hey, Yang, don't you think it's kind of exciting? A super cute idol loved by millions, yet she belongs completely to you and only you?"
The moment she said that, Su Yang's brain lit up with images.
And then…
Yeah, okay. If it's what she loves, then I'll support her with everything I've got.
Honestly? It wasn't bad at all.
In fact, he was loving every second of it.
That day, Yotsuya Miko didn't show up.
So Su Yang and Ai enjoyed their rare time alone together.
They went out, walked around the city like a couple, did everything couples do.
Dinner. Shopping. A movie.
By evening, Ai left for her next schedule.
And Su Yang didn't worry about her safety at all.
Because the night before, while Ai was asleep, he had sealed Kamui Phase and Kamui Space Rip into her eyes using the Rewriting Seal.
If anyone attacked her, it would automatically activate, phasing her out and instantly shredding the attacker in the Kamui dimension.
The phasing would last a full fifteen minutes, plenty of time for Su Yang to arrive.
He'd also made sure that Ai's activities these days were never far from his own location.
With Ai safely off, Su Yang finally turned his attention back to the Star Religious Group.
What's that?
"No evidence it was them?"
He laughed coldly.
"Please. Who needs evidence?"
"Suspicion is enough."
