As his words fell, gasps echoed throughout the common room!
Students stared at Sean and Ethan in shock, with many upperclassmen feeling regretful.
Hiss—!
This was the elite society that everyone dreamed of joining, the "Round Table Council"—membership alone proved one's status!
It was said that every member within it would later become influential figures in the Ministry of Magic.
It made no attempt to hide from outsiders that they were essentially a clique—the strongest network of connections one could have during their student years.
Even other houses, especially Slytherin, would closely associate with members of this society.
Limited by their understanding and knowledge, the Round Table Council had never deigned to let lower-year students join.
This year's second-year Cho Chang was already considered an exceptional admission.
Who would have thought that Sean, one of the two vice presidents, would actively invite Ethan—who had only been at school for two months—to join!
But thinking about what Ethan had accomplished since the start of school... maybe it wasn't so impossible after all?
After all, Ethan's "achievements" in two months exceeded what most students accomplished in seven years.
"Galloping Gorgons!"
Michael's eyes nearly popped out, as if he had received the invitation himself.
He desperately tugged at Ethan's sleeve, saying with immense envy:
"Your priority mating rights for the next seven years! Gah! I'm so jealous!"
"..."
That's all you aspire to.
Ethan swatted away Michael's paw.
He met the gaze of the upperclassman before him.
In the other's eyes, Ethan saw contempt, indignation, and smugness.
Clearly, the other considered giving him the qualification to join the society as charity.
He probably wanted to spit and say "Shrimp-head boy, disgusting!"
However...
He never said he wanted to join, did he?
Ethan: "Thank you, senior, for giving me this opportunity to join Ravenclaw's elite society—"
"Hmph."
Sean smugly curved his lips, crossing his arms as he looked down at the seemingly foolish little bean in front of him.
Oh dear~
He really didn't want to let a first-year brat join their noble organization.
Whatever, he'd just ignore him after joining.
Just throw him some scraps to deal with him normally.
Even this was what those other idiots dreamed of.
Sean didn't see Prefect Robert's pitying gaze.
Ethan: "—but I refuse."
Sean: "Hmph, then I'll reluctantly let you join. Remember, don't ask stupid questions about everything like a fool— Refuse?"
He seemed to be hearing the word "refuse" for the first time in his life.
His entire face contorted with shock and disbelief, eyes wide as saucers.
"Wait."
Ethan stepped back half a pace, frowning slightly.
"You're not going to say 'You're the first person to refuse me, I'll remember you' next, are you? This isn't a drama series."
Sean: "..."
The words stuck in his throat, nearly choking Sean to death.
Damn it.
Listening to this brat's nonsense was more painful than being punched.
Meanwhile, watching Sean's face turn purple, unable to say a word, Prefect Robert tilted his chin up slightly, squinted his eyes, and let out a satisfied "Ah."
Refreshing.
Finally, someone shared his experience.
Nothing was more delightful than watching Ethan torment others.
Not just Sean.
When Ethan's words came out, the entire common room fell silent again.
More shocking than receiving an invitation from the elite society was receiving an invitation and ruthlessly refusing it!
Michael was so stunned his jaw nearly dislocated.
He stared at Ethan in amazement, unable to believe what he'd heard!
Refusing seven years of mating priority rights?!
Boy, do you have someone else on the side, making you so fearless?!
Even Professor Flitwick hadn't expected this outcome.
He stumbled and nearly fell off the table.
After a long while, Sean finally came to his senses.
With a whoosh, he felt his cheeks burning hot!
"How dare you—how can you—do you know the Round Table Council's status?!"
Sean roared in shame and anger.
He suddenly leaned forward, getting close to Ethan, and lowered his voice:
"With a professor present, I can't say much. But, Mr. Vincent, who doesn't know his place, do you know what you just refused?"
"We're all future Ministry officials. You didn't refuse an invitation—you refused your future prospects in the Ministry!"
The meaning was clear.
He was threatening to make things difficult for him.
Not even in the Ministry yet, but he'd already learned bureaucratic tactics thoroughly.
Ethan's eyes narrowed, his nose twitched, and his gaze toward Sean carried a hint of scrutiny.
He seemed to smell the stench of abuse of power...
"Your statement just now had two errors."
Under everyone's gaze, Ethan spoke slowly.
As if he hadn't heard the threat at all, he calmly raised his hand and held up one finger:
"First, why would you think my future goal is the Ministry of Magic?"
Hearing this, Sean was stunned and instinctively said: "All Ravenclaws aim for the Ministry—"
"Bullshit." Michael whispered, "My goal is to live in debauchery and enjoy all the beauties in the world—Ow!"
Ethan used a Levitation Charm to toss the little rascal aside, leaving him just an inch from the fireplace.
"Your first error is being overly arrogant."
"Thinking everyone's goals are the same as yours, or that your goals are the most ambitious and idealistic."
"My goal has never been some mere Ministry of Magic—but the world."
When the last word fell, everyone held their breath in amazement.
—"World"!
Clearly an ordinary word.
But coming from Ethan's mouth, it rang out like a bronze bell hitting the ground!
Suddenly making everyone shudder!
Professor Flitwick was so excited he nearly teared up, hopping up and down, constantly muttering "Good, good!"
In a trance, he seemed to see the glorious era of the four founders from centuries ago.
Was Ravenclaw's eagle finally ready to soar?!
"You—you can't even get into the Ministry! What big talk!" Sean was both shocked and angry, involuntarily stepping back half a pace.
Unexpectedly, Ethan nodded very straightforwardly.
"That's right. I probably can't get into the Ministry. Because—"
"I most likely won't pass the background check."
Sean: "..."
All students: "..."
Such... such a simple reason!
Sean wanted to refute but found he had no grounds for rebuttal.
Indeed, with Ethan's sinister operations, daring to mess with professors in first year—wouldn't he blow up the school in second year?!
...No, it shouldn't go that far, right?
Regardless, with these records, even if he didn't interfere, the Ministry's review—probably really wouldn't pass!
At this moment, Sean felt like he'd punched cotton.
Incredibly frustrated.
"However," Ethan curved his lips, thoughtfully consoling, "Azkaban also falls under the Ministry. If you're so eager to work with me, I'm not unwilling to make an effort."
"Who—who wants to work with you—wait, where did you say you'd try to get into?"
Try to get into Azkaban?
This guy Ethan Vincent has gone mad!
