Chapter 5 - 4: The journey to Mount Kawanari

Raijin stepped outside to see a gray being with fangs , muscularly huge, a jute rope on his waist. The demon saw him, retracted his claws and made his legs turn into sharp black points.

"The Lord has said to give me more blood to finish you off- i could become a lower moon now, so come here kid and let me finish you off painlessly- hihihi".

Raijin didn't budge. The letter in his hands, written by blood, was put in his haori, and then he removed his haori. His shirt perfectly fitting his body showing his training had paid off. He looked straight at the demons green eyes and said "Come at me you shithead" without showing any signs of fear, but anger.

The demon rushed at him and tried to tear through his chest, but he sidestepped him.

The demon turned around and gave a punch, but he dodged that too.

"Try ignoring this one-" said the demon and launched himself towards Raijin.

He saw the demon rushing to him , but he did not dodge, he grabbed his neck and held him up high. Raijin instead of like anyone else of his family, started using Total Concentration Breathing at all times. While eating, sleeping, training even when unconscious. So he had no worries now and now was at his peak capabilities.

The demon realized what he was against.

"Your weakness is sunlight right? Now, you try to bear up with me."

The demon tried to slash at Raijin but was not even able to reach him. Raijin threw the demon through 3 trees.

*Raijin POV*

The sun had started to rise. The demon lunged at me, I grabbed him and uppercut his jaw ,proceeding with a straight punch to his face and an elbow.

I threw him down and broke both the spike like legs and pinned him using one of them by stabbing through the top of his head and the other through his chest which pinned him like a canvas on the ground.

"You regenerate quick, I shattered your entire skull, broke your legs and they all came up again. Lets test your limits today"

I proceeded to continously beat his torso till I could see the spike that I pinned through him.

"Please spare me....no more...please, I beg you" "Fine"

I let him to enjoy the sunshine at dawn as he was reduced to ashes.

I went back inside the house, picked up the bodies of my parents and hugged them one last time before burying them. I put a stone slab on top of their graves by inscripting their names on it and laying some flowers. I ended the burial with some prayers.

I went inside , took off my bloodied clothes packed all of the bloodied clothes in a bag and kept it outside. I went to the top floor to the dining to see a cake made for me with happy birthday written on the wall.

Near the cake was a pair of fingerless black gloves made from special material that could not burn, get dirty much and was very durable according to the note with it. Beside that was the kaminari family bracelet made from silver, it was a simple chain band but as soon as I put it on, it was made by thousands of small silver chains. It fit me perfectly.

I ate the cake and weeped silently...

"Happy birthday to me.."

*End of POV*

Raijin packed his bag with clothes, little food, the money. He grabbed a fresh haori and put it on top of him before he moved outside. He had cleaned the rooms and let everything that was in there stay, except a picture of his family.

He went to the village and thanked the people and the head before leaving. He asked the village head to look after his house and that he may return once a while, and if any homeless were to use it, let him use 2 rooms to 3 rooms but to keep it clean.

He asked directions for Mount Kawanori and was said that he had to cross the entire mountain and then proceed straight to reach there.

Raijin thanked everyone and went on the journey.

After a while of climbing, Raijin reached the same bridge where he had his first adventure, feeling nostalgic, he looked back one last time before jumping with much more ease and effort than last time.

While travelling through the other part of the mountain, he realized why the bridge was broken. This part was much more dense and snowy than the rest.

As he was walking, he heard a painful howl coming from his right. As on instinct, he ran to the sound where it came from and saw a white and black wolf being surrounded by about 7 or 8 hyenas.

The wolf had a small kid, covering behind her.

The wolf was bleeding tremendously but still let no harm come to her pup. Before a hyena could land the final hit , Raijin jumped in and kicked the hyena aside.

The hyenas , rest of them saw him and got scared , but 3 of them lunged at him. With a single wave of his hand, he pushed the 3 of them away.

The hyenas ran away and Raijin turned to the wolf. It was dying and the pup couldn't understand what was happening. Raijin always had a way with animals and showed the wolf with simple gestures that it meant no harm. He tried to do something but realized the wolf had no way to be healed.

The wolf gestured at her pup as if asking him to take care of him, and then she silently passed away.

Raijin prayed for her soul and covered her with the dense snow under the towering trees. He spread his arms towards the pup and it climbed on top of his shoulders, trusting the stranger.

He then fed some fish he had to the pup as it looked hungry and went on down the hill. It was almost afternoon when he reached the habitated places and asked a cart person to give him a lift till Mount Kawanari.

It was dusk when he reached the point and saw that the mountain was much more taller than the one he lived at.

He then saw some paths behind the bushes and decided to follow them.
