Chapter 69 - Humiliation of the Class S Teacher

Some students were gathered—almost all from Class A and half from Class S—separated in different areas around the place where the battle was supposed to happen. The students wanted to watch the teachers' fight, but no students were allowed inside because they could get hurt in a battle of that level.

"I wanted to see this battle happen."

Kai said as he arrived next to Enrico with his arm bandaged, while Enrico was deep in thought about how to enter Director Hao's Barrier.

The Director's Barrier was extremely strong, so there was no safe or unannounced way to enter, which discouraged him—he really wanted to see the Class S teacher's defeat. Enrico gave up and began observing some students, checking their stats to see who might be useful.

'Most of them are pretty strong, but that's normal for Class S. Though I can take on the Rank 20 to 30 students here.'

They weren't important characters, but they might be useful later. He also looked at the Class A students—he hadn't seen them before leaving, so it was a good time.

'Those two characters are important but die in the Infernal Academy arc.'

Giulio Tintorelli, Rank 37, and Camila Cinzaria, Rank 39—two important characters in the first year's mid-arc. Both die in the future, but if Enrico's plan works, they won't even get close to the academy on that day.

'I should talk to them soon.'

Before he could take a step, Angela appeared behind them, startling them both.

"Dear students, Professor Virelle asked me to accompany you."

The two exchanged glances, and Angela called Elian and Sílva, who were ahead, to follow her as well. Upon entering a room, they saw Serenya and Valença.

"Are you two feeling better?"

Enrico's question made Serenya strike an arrogant pose, saying it was nothing. Valença simply nodded—ever since witnessing Enrico's power today, she had resumed training immediately after being checked by healing mages.

"Hey, guys, you're here too?"

Liam arrived, followed by Caelan, whose eyes were barely open, as if he had just woken up.

"So lazy... can't this be tomorrow?"

"That's exactly why you're falling behind."

Elian and Caelan started arguing when Seraphina arrived and sat next to Enrico, making Serenya give her a dirty look. Angela picked up a stone, and from it, a broadcast image of Professor Virelle's fight appeared. Everyone immediately gathered around, excited.

"You really want this, Professor Virelle?"

It was Professor Finguerard from Class S speaking.

"Of course. I can't let a teacher go unpunished after lying about my students."

"I didn't lie."

He wouldn't admit it so easily, so Virelle would have to force him to speak and clear her students' names. Director Hao was seated alongside other teachers such as Borem, Sir Drenholm, and even Sairus.

"You may begin."

Professor Virelle conjured a sword of vines and prepared to attack, while Professor Finguerard summoned fire and wind magic, combining both and burning her sword and entire arm. He not only had a type advantage, but also something boosting his fire's power. In this fight, unless Virelle had a second magic, she couldn't properly fight back with such a disadvantage.

The students watching the broadcast grew concerned, but Enrico remained calm, trembling with excitement about what would happen to Finguerard.

"Are you really a teacher?"

Virelle surprised him with her words, then raised her sword. She dispelled the fire by infusing it with more magic, expelling the flames, leaving the sword undamaged.

"How do you think others will see us if you keep hiding what your student did?"

An absurd amount of mana began to pour out of Virelle, and a pressure swept through the bodies of all the teachers—except Director Hao, who was merely surprised by what he was sensing. Enrico stood slightly, surprised because Virelle was about to use a seventh-circle spell—but she was supposed to keep her power hidden, unless...

"Wait, when did you become a seventh-circle mage?"

The professor was trembling. Virelle said nothing and lowered her sword as Director Hao raised his hand, casting a double-layered barrier over Finguerard, who was struck with multiple cuts. The magic and pressure were so intense that the ground beneath her was destroyed—and it would've been worse if not for a barrier protecting the subsoil as well.

"Good thing I created that barrier, or the city would've suffered major damage."

He saw that she still held back. A seventh-circle spell could destroy an entire territory if not for the world itself limiting the destruction they could cause—the hardest to contain being ninth-circle mages.

"I hope Professor Finguerard tells the truth now."

Finguerard was on the ground, covered in cuts. Hao had only placed barriers to keep him from dying. He declared Virelle the winner and said she could take his position as Class S teacher. But she refused, saying she would take the role only after a certain student advanced to that class—leaving the teachers visibly unsettled.

Back in the room, the students were surprised, especially Sílva, who was getting excited.

"Professor Virelle reached the seventh circle?"

"She's a prodigy—look, even Enrico's surprised."

They noticed Enrico looking shocked, which made sense to them—they thought he was seeing a prodigy greater than himself. But that wasn't it. Enrico was surprised because it had always been a family rule to keep his true power secret, so for Virelle to use a seventh-circle spell meant she had reached the eighth.

'She still had it… she wasn't supposed to awaken it at this time... wait, this is good.'

Enrico grew excited. He had wanted to see Finguerard humiliated more than just taking a hit—but now he would set that aside, because something even better was before him. He was now gaining more chances to survive against the evil gods. Seeing Enrico happy, Angela shook her head, thinking about how Virelle wanted her to show the battle to Enrico so he could see how great she was as a teacher.

'With this, there's no way he'll refuse to become my lady's disciple.'

Now, outside the window, on the rooftop across the way, an eye had witnessed the fight through the broadcast image. He had to be thankful to have seen this—because from now on, he would be more cautious.

'After all the effort I put into convincing those Ranvil-level Nartheis to attack the city, I can't afford to mess anything up.'

A boy sitting in a window in the infirmary had seen it all. Behind him, another boy woke up.

"That bastard… he's going to pay."

It was Deymon, thinking about Enrico defeating him, which made him furious. Even if he'd lost to another noble, he couldn't admit it—and he'd been caught off guard.

"You're awake."

Deymon lifted his head, seeing a pale boy, and wondered if he was a vampire—but that was impossible. Vampires didn't get along with any other race and saw humans only as meals, even if they hadn't caused trouble for the past hundred years.

"Who are you?"

The boy stepped down from the window and introduced himself with a smile Deymon didn't like.

"My name is Jago, and I'd like to offer you something."
